2023.06.01 10:53 unikartgurgaon A Comprehensive Guide to Pursuing an Online MBA: Eligibility, Fees, Placements, and More

Online MBA: A Convenient Path to Professional Advancement in today's fast-paced and highly competitive business world, pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree has become increasingly essential for career growth and success. Traditionally, earning an MBA required candidates to attend on-campus classes, which often posed challenges for working professionals or those with personal commitments. However, the advent of technology has revolutionized the educational landscape, making it possible for individuals to pursue an MBA through online programs.
An online MBA program offers flexibility, convenience, and the opportunity to balance professional and personal commitments while advancing one's education. Let's explore various aspects of pursuing an online MBA, including eligibility criteria, fees structure, placements, entrance exams, syllabus, job prospects, the value of the degree, and the admission process.
Online MBA Program: An online MBA program is designed to provide the same quality of education and curriculum as a traditional on-campus MBA program. It covers various aspects of business administration, including finance, marketing, operations, human resources, entrepreneurship, and strategic management. The program typically lasts for two years and offers the flexibility of asynchronous learning, allowing students to access course materials and lectures at their convenience.
Online MBA Course: The online MBA course curriculum focuses on providing a comprehensive understanding of business concepts, strategic thinking, leadership skills, and analytical problem-solving. Students engage in virtual discussions, case studies, group projects, and assignments to develop practical skills and apply theoretical knowledge to real-world business scenarios. The coursework is often supplemented with industry guest lectures and virtual simulations to enhance the learning experience.
Online MBA Eligibility: Eligibility criteria for an online MBA program may vary among universities, but generally, candidates are required to possess a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution. Some programs may also require a minimum number of years of work experience in a relevant field. Additionally, candidates may need to submit standardized test scores, such as the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) or GRE (Graduate Record Examination).
Online MBA Fees Structure: The fees structure for online MBA programs can vary significantly depending on the institution, program reputation, and duration. Typically, online MBA programs are more cost-effective than their on-campus counterparts due to the elimination of expenses associated with commuting, accommodation, and campus facilities. It is important for prospective students to carefully evaluate the fees structure and consider financial aid or scholarship opportunities that may be available.
Online MBA Placements: Online MBA programs often offer comprehensive career services and placement support to help students secure employment opportunities. These services may include resume building, interview preparation, networking events, and access to job databases. While placements are generally based on the individual's skills, experience, and performance, the reputation of the institution and its alumni network can also play a significant role in opening doors to lucrative job opportunities.
Online MBA Entrance Exams: Many online MBA programs require candidates to submit standardized test scores, such as the GMAT or GRE, as part of the admission process. These exams assess the candidate's verbal, quantitative, analytical writing, and critical thinking skills. However, some online MBA programs may offer waivers for these exams based on certain criteria, such as relevant work experience or academic achievements.
Online MBA Syllabus: The syllabus of an online MBA program typically covers a wide range of subjects, including core business disciplines and specialized courses. Core subjects may include managerial economics, accounting, finance, marketing, operations management, organizational behavior, and strategic management. Specialized courses allow students to focus on areas of interest such as entrepreneurship, international business, data analytics, or supply chain management.
Online MBA Jobs and Salary: An online MBA opens up diverse career opportunities across industries and sectors. Graduates of online MBA programs can pursue roles such as management consultants, business analysts, marketing managers, operations managers, financial analysts, or entrepreneurs. The salary potential for MBA graduates varies based on factors such as experience, industry, job role, and location. However, an MBA degree often translates into higher earning potential and increased career advancement opportunities.
Online MBA Degree: An online MBA degree holds the same value and recognition as a traditional on-campus MBA degree. Employers today increasingly recognize the value of online education and appreciate the skills and knowledge gained through online MBA programs. Accredited online MBA programs undergo rigorous quality assessments to ensure that they meet the highest educational standards and provide a valuable learning experience.
Online MBA Admission Process: The admission process for online MBA programs typically involves submitting an application form along with academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, a statement of purpose, and standardized test scores if required. Some programs may also require a personal interview or an essay. It is crucial for prospective students to carefully review the admission requirements and deadlines for each program they wish to apply to.
In conclusion, pursuing an online MBA offers working professionals and individuals with personal commitments a flexible and convenient pathway to enhance their business acumen and advance their careers. With rigorous curriculum, comprehensive support services, and the recognition of employers, an online MBA can be a catalyst for professional growth and open doors to exciting opportunities in the dynamic business world.

2023.06.01 10:40 ladyskullz Why do people believe Dr Curry over Dr Hughes?

Dr Curry is a non-board certified psychologist who doesn't specialise in IPV. She conducted 2 tests on Amber, and one of the tests didn't show elevated scores. She also didn't speak to Amber's treating psychologists, which was a huge red flag for me.
Dr Hughes is a board certified forensic psychologist who specialises in IPV and PTSD. She conducted 16 tests on Amber and spoke to her psychologists. She also pointed out that Dr Curry had misinterpretated one of the tests she did on Amber.
Dr Hughes seemed way more credible and her diagnosis was similar to Ambers treating doctors, not at odds with it like Dr Curry.
Dr Curry's diagnosis has been heavily criticised by other forensic psychologists. And it seemed to me that she was paid to diagnose Amber with mental health conditions she didn't have.
Why do people still believe Dr Curry over Dr Hughes?
On a side note, I think it was disgusting that Johnny Depp stans review bombed Dr Hughes and threatened her just for doing her job.

2023.06.01 10:14 sylvaron Suddenly said goodbye to my baby girl (a sweet old cat)

I know this is obvious, but content warning on this post: I talk about a lot of diseases here and I don't want anyone to freak out if they have health anxiety for themselves or their pets.
------------------------
I had to say goodbye to my cat of 8 years. She was 16 years old, roughly, my wife and I got her from a shelter so we aren't sure. She was kept in the cages, seperate from other cats as she hadn't been acclimated yet. When they opened the cage she jumped into my wife's arms and started purring. We knew she was our cat at that very moment and that we would love her completely.
I really just want to chronicle my experience with her here, including all of her health issues because I need to validate myself for putting her through euthanasia.
This cat was an outstanding companion. She was the best companion I could ask for, and I was there for her through an enormous amount of health issues. Within a week of us adopting her from that shelter, she became very sick. Labored breathing, looking away from us, hiding as much as possible. She had an ear polyp that had grown so large it was hurting her greatly. The adoption center told us we could give her back and they would take care of her surgeries. We declined, told them we would keep her, and they told us they would pay for the main surgery. We took her to a multitude of appointments and a surgery center and helped her recover. She was great for a while. A few years, 2015 to 2019 everything was pretty golden with her and it was the best time of my life when I got to spend time with her.
In 2019 we received the worst possible news, she had mammary cancer on her left chain of breasts. They told us it had a high chance of mortality within a year, but that we could slow it down with surgery in case it hadn't spread to her lymphatic system yet. We opted to do the surgery and she came out on the other side doing wonderfully. We waited that year, upset as the date approached when it would be the 365th day. That came, and she was fine. Another year passed, and she was fine, or so we though--I felt more bumps, but on the other side of body. The cancer had infected her right mammary chain. We were worried about her surviving the surgery, as she was 14 and had already been through a few. Luckily she came out of it just fine, the recover was a bit rough but she was back to her old self within two weeks! Around this time we also found out she was deaf and most likely had been the entire time we had had her--haha! Everything, once again, was amazing for a while.
2021 hits and she has a massive eye ulcer. Her eye is clouded and bloodshot. The vets treat her for an eye ulcer as if it is bacterial for two weeks and it gets worse and worse. I take her to an emergency vet and they state she clearly as FHV and the infection is viral--it needs antivirals, not antibiotics. It clears but her eye is permanently damaged and she is probably 90% blind out of it.
2022 comes, and we notice some stuff changing in her--the vet lets us know she has kidney disease. It's relatively early, it'll probably give her another two years. I assume the cancer will get her before the kidney disease will, and just adjust the way I take care of her to fit her new disease.
Enter 2023, everything is still going well. She is slowing down a little bit day by day, sleeping more, probably up to about 20 hours a day by April. But she loves us, and she is so, so happy. Always purring, eating well, keeping herself hydrated despite her kidney disease progressing. May 28th hits, she's crying out at night and seems a little confused. I keep trying to bring her into bed but she gets down in really odd ways that aren't normal for her. I don't think too much of it. I wake up the next morning to my wife telling me that our girl was inconsolable last night and was crying out even when she picked her up to love on her. I go check her out and immediately notice something odd--she doesn't seem to see me. I walk around, wave my hand in front of her face, no registration. I pet her and she purrs. I get her to walk and she will walk-- into very odd areas of the house, into walls, into corners, trying to scout where she is. She's repeatedly trying to walk into walls on her right side. Her left side also has a bit of a limp to the back leg, it's constantly touching her front paw when she walks. She cries out and I go to her, she registers I'm there but wants to keep walking into things. We assume she is totally blind and are extremely unsettled as she is also known to be deaf. We go buy a laser point and she can see it! Three inches from her face, and only on her right side. So much so on her right that she won't register it if it's on her left at all--even if her right eye can see it. She doesn't register our other cat even though it is immediately to her left and she bumps into her, freaking my other cat out.
We take her to the emergency vet and wait for hours. The vet comes out and gives us some mixture of terrible news, starting with some small things--She has an ear infection, she has periodontitis, she has a galloping heartbeat, and it's starting to get worse, she has a blood pressure reading of 250 even after letting her rest for a bit. Anything over 180 is hospitalization for a cat (and for people fyi). To top it all off, they tested her in an empty room and determined she had a great deal of mental deficiencies. She was "a-visual," or lacking vision, she would constantly try to turn into walls even when she knew they were there, and she seemed to not recognize her left side of her body as I had mentioned. They figured, without testing to confirm, that she probably had a stroke or a tumor so advanced that it had affected her brain function. They were leaning towards stroke. They wanted to keep her there overnight for further tests and then recommended hospitalization as it would be unsafe to bring her home given her blood pressure. My wife and I looked at eachother and had the same thought, as unsettling as it was. We asked the vet to step away while we discussed--euthanasia? Could we really subject her to further testing, staying in a hospital for who knows how long when chances were she wouldn't get better? And if she got better, if they lowered her blood pressure and got her stable for us to bring home, how much longer would she have lasted given that she also had advancing cancer and kidney disease? I was willing to go to any measures to make her comfortable due to the lack of vision, hearing, and lack of awareness of her left side. I can deal with that. But I can't deal with her sitting in a hospital for so long, so confused and scared why we aren't there, when the only way she can recognize us is through touch and smell and those things aren't there with her. We told the vet we wanted to euthanize, through heavy tears. The vet had never mentioned this option (I don't know if this is normal, I think maybe it is usually left to the owner to come up with the idea maybe?). But she told us we could euthanize there, that we would get a little room and as much time with her as we wanted. We went to the room, our baby was brought to us and of course she couldn't see us. But there she was, and we were able to bring her out and cuddle her. This is the worst part. She was there for us. She licked my wife, and layed in my lap, she seemed relatively normal and loving. I just can't wrap my head around it, she had so many things going wrong and here she was giving us love. This is the part that hurts me and makes me feel like I did something wrong. How could an animal that needs to be euthanized still be loving on us? With everything listed though and me being utterly terrified of her having to stay in a hospital and possibly dying there, we went through with it. I held her until the very end, knowing I was never going to be the same person.
I am devastated, lost, confused, and searching to figure out if I made the right decision. The thing is, given the information and the number of systems failing in her body, logically it should be. But to know she still had fight in her, love in her? Love for me? To end her like that, was it mercy? Should I have let her continue, with the chance that maybe I would get to have her back in my arms at home, with things being relatively normal for a little while longer? What if things got way, way worse, would I feel even more terrible about myself to have let her go too far and to have her in too much pain? I think so, but I don't know as I chose to "early" option, if it was early. I'm just at a loss without a pet that I loved as much as my very own child. She was my everything, my comfort after work, after a stressful event she was there for me and now she isn't, and I cannot process that.
--------------------------
On a happier note, let me talk about her demeanor for a bit because that's what I loved about her! She was a deaf cat, an old cat, and a sickly cat as I listed above. This means that I was responsible for her well being much more than a normal animal. It was like taking care of an elderly parent, or a baby. Constantly monitoring her, helping her eat, go to the bathroom, waking up 10-15 times a night to collect her as she cried out for me. These things strengthened my bond with her enormously. She was such a sweet girl, always wanting in my lap or to lay beside me. If I laid in bed for one minute, or sat down for one minute, there she was! She had places she loved to sleep, including on the beanbag in my wife's office. She would sleep there for 6-8 hours at a time, and then come around the corner to the living room sniffling (she had FHV so constant sniffles and sneezing), and we'd greet her with such excitement. She would follow me everywhere when she was awake, never ever wanting to leave my side. She would lick me any time I pet her (and continue licking me until I stopped). She would bite my nose when I put my face up to her face, lovingly. She had stinky breath from the gum disease but I didn't care. She loved using a heating pad we had sitting on the ground for her all year round as it helped her joints. She just loved heat--she would constantly try to jump into the oven when I opened it, or shove herself into the air fryer. Sunlight was king in her eyes and she would find it and camp it all day. She was nothing but purrs and love--immense, intense love for me that I gave her in return. I miss her, I miss her more than I could ever fathom. My love for her was so incredibly deep that it scares me to think I may never get to feel that with a pet again.
Thank you for listening to me if you read this though I don't need anybody to, I just really needed to get this off my chest somewhere and to have a written record of my time with her somewhere besides my heart. I know a lot of it is health concerns, a lot of it sounds negative, but the health issues I faced with her through the years were ways that I grew closer to her, and it is only the end that hurts me. The rest is simply a history of my love for her.

2023.06.01 10:05 anti-jannie-jannie Weekly Overlord Whiner

title is clickbait.
this is less of a whiny copypasta (but you can use it as such if it does become stupid) and more of an attempt at walking through my experiences and hoping to keep an open mind about whether or not continuing the series would be worth it.

Warning: my writing tends to be more or less an incoherent mess as I jump around and write what I think of off the top of my head.

I read the manga up to the current chapter and at the end was left in a pretty negative vibe and hesitant on whether i'd enjoy the rest of the anime and LN if I invested time into it.

Prologue:
I was browsing youtube and the scene with Zanac discussion and beheading came up. I tend to care less about major plot points getting spoiled and will usually read through summaries of things in advance. I value twists/big plot points less than how well they are executed. Interesting enough so I decided to read the manga. I chose manga over anime/LN because 20 minutes per episode usually doesnt slot well and LN requires more mental imagination of things.

The Manga:
Gonna break down my reactions based on first time reading them

The Undead King Arc

Yup pretty chill intro, we get to see some of the basic things going down w Momonga, e.g. friendship, his relation to the guardians, his [guild's] cool crib, his overpowered abilities. Off to a start with Momonga helping the village and giving free items.
Nice villain premise seems solid
Guardians deciding to go for world domination interesting.
My expectations for the story based on this arc: "Ainz will become the anti hero who fights evil with killing so at least it isnt shit ass talk no jutsu I guess"

The Dark Warrior Arc

Momonga does some basic isekai/adventurer shit. Seems legit I guess.
First taste of good guys dying brutally. Corpses get defiled not cool.
My expectations for the story based on this arc is same as above really, good guy who isnt above killing.

The Bloody Valkyrie Arc

Ainz realizes there are people with power. Possible challenge? Ainz might have to exert some effort?
My expectations for story are same as above + seek revenge on the strong NPCs motivation, gonna fight a lot of mini enemies before reaching top of organization.

The Lizard Man Heroes Arc

I skim/read really fast but yeah the "Biped Sheep" went over my head as much as it did Ainz's. Honestly the giveaway should've been the lack of wool mentions and just directly talking about skin w/o stuff like meat or innards since it would make sense to make use of all parts of a sheep.
Lizardmen sex haha funny.
First taste of real evil brutality and it was underwhelming tbh.
At this point I kinda expected at least Zaryushu to be revived and Crusch to survive because they had baby making. yeah just based on that. honestly i believe baby making > actual children in terms of plot armor.
Interesting/funny how Demiurge and Albedo guide Ainz's reasoning unintentionally.

Overall, nice of Ainz to let Cocytus step up, sorta gives the parent teaching kid vibe.
Cocytus choosing to spare the Lizardmen of his own volition, showing that the guardians can act independently of Ainz and have their own personalities. I understood Cocytus's choice was out of honor rather than mercy.

My expectations for the story based on this arc is will Demiurge notice that Ainz isnt really the super mega genius brain he is and manipulate Ainz into pushing his own goals (or just Nazarick's goals). Alternatively Demiurge instead of intentionally manipulating, simply subconsciously manipulates.

The Men in the Kingdom Arc

Meeting the other guys.
Sebas being a good person baited me into thinking that Nazarick would really be nice guys after all. After finishing the manga I feel like Ainz's compassion for the sister thing was too much of an asspull. In order to justify keeping that girl alive they had to make her related. Because otherwise there was no way Ainz would've had any reason to keep her alive. It doesnt seem like she appears later so she more so functions as a bait to keep the reader thinking that they're really good people after all (in the manga).
Demiurge being Demiurge I guess, absolute murder happy feller.
My expectations for the story based on this arc is above + will the guardians become nicer + Ainz will continue pushing a hero persona while instigating the villainy himself. Evil yes but it'd be interesting to watch him be a fake good guy.

The Invaders of the Large Tomb Arc

He said they would die so I expected them to die. They died.
I honestly put 0 value into anime waifus. None whatsoever. Arche sad backstory? Yeah cool but I already knew she wouldn't be an exception so she died. The End.
Honestly? I got the kick out of watching the guardians exert their skills or personality to handle intruders.
The only slight nagging I had at the back of my brain was "Is Momonga going to do anything (is Ainz going to let them go to keep Momonga's identity intact)". I honestly dont know what was up with this line of reasoning but it was still sorta "Ainz is still technically good" copium. Turns out I didnt need to worry about Momonga identity at all because it gets buried and nobody ever really thinks about or brings it up again since he decides to go into Sorcerer King mode.
My expectations for the story based on this arc: "Ainz will kill people to 'protect' Nazarin from shit like looters/adventurers who dare trespass"

The Two Leaders Arc

Woah check out the side characters. Remember these guys Ainz helped? They're doing normal stuff and just trying to chill but get jumped by monsters!
Ainz decides to kill some more high end monsters! yippee!
My expectations for the story based on this arc same as before

The Magic Caster of Destruction Arc

bro killed 70k real people just to summon some murder monsters to kill even more. yeah honestly, what's the point i cant fuck with this anymore.
even though I didnt expect anyone to survive its still not a fun thing to just watch everyone get murdered.
My expectations for the story based on this arc: "Ainz will just kill almost everyone i guess and then enslave the rest"

Epilogue:
After hitting the chapter 76 (last chapter I could find), I just felt subdued disappointment.
I dosed partial copium in two aspects
  1. It's still a "game". Yes I know its another world but there are constant reminders that everyone else is an NPC, MC is looking for players, etc etc. The New World might as well still be the video game and MC is killing everyone simply because they aren't real people.
  2. Undead = less morality. I would say the isekai shifted his personality though we dont see much of it in the manga. There's no way this guy would've passed any sort of mental health test. Then again its a dystopian future so they might not even have enough funds for mental health check.
Yeah I definitely did the seething and coping but I just decided that eh whatever it just isn't worth pushing manga/LN for if this is the series going forward. It felt like a shift from the first two arcs for sure.
Copying the names for the arcs it turns out the part where Ainz announces his utopia thing is right after it, which might've changed my mind on continuing the manga.

Then I went on reddit

Browsing the Hot Posts

some good memes, not too much to talk about tbh

Searching for "evil"

Seeing some diverse opinions that were all pretty well received
"He is evil"
"He is just benefitting Nazarick at the expense of everyone else"
"He is justice/based"
I get last ones a meme and I'm honestly with number 2/3 combined ones where they acknowledge from a general moral compass perspective it is evil but his intentions are to further Nazarick.

Searching for "redo"

I'll admit, this was just kinda copium trying to find hypocrisy where there is none. I barely touched redo, looked at a few chapters, its just hentai with adventurer element trying to do a story. Still came up in my mind since I wanted to compare the "blatantly villain guys"
Specifically wanted to see the subset of fans that dunk on redo for rape specifically (rather than shitty story/hentai) and mentally calling them out for being okay with genocide but not rape.
I did see someone who mentioned how certain animes trigger them because of violence/sexual violence but Overlord is fine since its from Ainz's perspective but that's honestly acceptable and isnt a real good indicator of hypocrisy since PTSD can manifest differently.

Searching for "tanya"

I actually never read tanya but I already mentally had a dislike of the thing because of the "child hitler" thing. Yes yes imperial germany but the whole child conducting war crimes premise was not a great hook for me.
Turns out overlord and tanya are homies and thats just great i guess. Mass murderers rise up.

Searching for "arche"

Yup I agree with the common sentiment "Arche simps are cringe. Backstory =/= survivable". Gonna pat myself on the back for being so uncringe.

Searching for "arche sisters"

On this I regained strong feelings.
I would've been completely fine if it was "le salt mines". I would've been fine if they died in an orphanage fire. I would've been fine if Ainz just teleported, time stopped and killed them w one touch insta kill.
But really...
really?
as forgone as it was in terms of dark world + no other forms of child labor, I cant for the life of me imagine 5 year old children in that kinda situation ever and people casually joking about it. Given the non zero amount of fans who joke about it and the non zero amount of fans who enjoy the Overlord genocides there is definitely a non zero number of fans who got off on that. I would also argue there's definitely a difference between 5 and 10. Specifically, school starting at 6 years old (in modern societies technically). If the author chose 10, maybe less fucked up idk since they'd have awareness. Man could've chosen 1 year old and had the parents sell their baby children and it wouldn't have been that fucked up.
Idk how new fans would process this information while being called degenerates for simping Arche by the same people who joke about this.
I guess I'll keep snorting the "they died mercifully" copium instead of the alternative.

Overall reasons for disliking
  1. Manga format.Honestly I should've read the LN because the manga is both behind anime and still kinda graphic in presentation. Also cuts some details compared to the LN format. LN allows the reader to tone up/down their mental images and allows some readers to just read w/o imagining at all.
  2. Switches up goals/personalities way too quickA lot of the early stuff feels like isekai bait. Switches from hero to world domination really fast. Momonga personality dropped and gone. Idk how much smoother the transition is in the LN compared to the manga
  3. Arche's sisters too fucked up
  4. Horny/sexualization out of place. Straw that broke the camel's back for me. Honestly the whole dark humor story didn't need horny tacked on. It feels grossly out of place to read Albedo thirsting over Ainz and then Ainz murdering everyone. If I'm being honest I've never enjoyed horny in manga where story isnt about horny. Curious how Albedo's body pillow never got brought up after he murdered all the trespassers... edit: taking this even further, i think the idea of best girls in this is silly. Ainz has 0 sex drive or romantic motivation and shipping any of the characters to Ainz seems futile. well shippers gonna ship I guess. edit: changed to out of place because yes I agree the sexualization is less compared to other isekais.

Everything aside, I've never really gotten into Isekai at all.
I read SAO once. once. pretty much killed all interest in isekai after that. and the sexualization is not my jam.
I've guilty pleasured some power of friendship stuff like MHA but that's never been my bread and butter.
Honestly might've moved past shonen as a whole.

Two of my favorite mangas are Moriarty the Patriot (anti-hero, alternative history of Moriarty but from a sympathetic perspective. Commits murder for a goal, willing to sacrifice self to better country) and Ya Boy Kongming (Alternative version of famous chinese strategist Kongming, uses his military strategies to help singer succeed in market)

Maybe the real issue is that I dont like isekai. I'd love to hear any armchair psychologist thoughts you guys might have and some refutations to any shit points I made.
I'm willing to give LN another shot but I want to hear some rebuttals or agree/disagree on opinions stated

tl;dr
overlord kills way too many people that i wish he'd just instant kill 80% and just slave the rest, no point in getting interested in characters outside of nazarick because they'll just get dumpstered.

edit: I understand that there are people with WCI and therefore its still important for him to be conscious of that. I retract that part and apologize for not considering that.

Issue putting controls further from a mixer
Making a karaoke machine, I get to put mic volume, fx level and stereo channel volume on a plate, a few meters away from the mixer.
Where I am now is testing this shorter length prototype. Everything works but I've got an issue : The mic vol pot does not work fine. I only get volume at the end of the pot course, all the "there's sound", from "a little bit" to "way too much" is between 8 and 10. It's not the case with the channel 2 even with same mic and settings.
The moved away pot I put is the same as the factory one : a 10k log. I tested with a 10k lin, a 5k log, and it's always the exact same problem.
I suspect the fly wires to stop too much of the signal but I don't know if it's just that, what your thougts on this ?
I know another technician made working karaoke machines with those exact mixers, wires and pots but I can't reach them at the moment for health issues.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my English !

2023.06.01 10:02 seti_at_home Nobody thrives on rejection – here are reasons I didn’t take job offers - "Christian Heilmann"

Apologies for long text, this is copied from Christian Heilmann's blog where he explains his latest job looking experience after working for Microsoft quite some time. It is really good read so I wanted to share it with you all.
End of this month is my last day at Microsoft. I didn’t plan this. My original plan was to keep being a representative of that company and work on the amazing products it builds. Market forces, however, caused yet another reorg and as there was no other department with openings for remote work in Germany, we agreed to split. Who knows? Maybe things will change, but given the current trend of all big tech companies to “healthshrink”, I looked around for smaller, local companies.
Having been focused on my employer for 8 years without any interests in other opportunities I dived into the job market, brushing up my resume and using my network of great folks I interacted with over the years. So after a month of unemployment benefits, I will start a new role on the first of July.
All in all I sent out 19 applications, 11 of which got offered to me by contacts, recruiters, or the companies directly. Yes, I am a lucky person with a lot of privilege. But I also have a 20+ years track record I worked very hard on. My main source was LinkedIn but I also paid for two more services, both of which were pointless, but at least the payment is tax deductible.
I had a stressful time finding and choosing, mostly because of the people I met in the process. Everybody was nice and exciting to get to know. The offers, too, were really good and some made impostor syndrome hop about like a mechanical cymbal wielding monkey in my head. I had a hard time disappointing some dedicated people and hope I didn’t burn all bridges. In short, recruiters are people, too, so treat them like you want to be treated.
I also want to point out that the list I’m about to write feels weird as it may make me come across as a spoiled brat – at least to me. But I think it might be helpful for companies to know which things can cause someone like me to say no, even when all interactions were positive up to the last moment.
So, without more beating around the bush, here goes:
Work from office / bonkers hybrid work demands
With the hiatus in the pandemic it seems that most companies remembered that they have expensive offices their employers should use. Often they also had bad experiences with people working remotely. And I get it. Working face to face in a small company is a lot more efficient. I’m looking forward to working from an office from time to time again. But I don’t see the point of being a lead of a distributed team and having to do this from a place with a one hour commute when all my interactions would be virtual anyway. One company even asked if I could work from their office 400 kilometres away twice a week.
Remote work in tech is the most obvious thing to do – so don’t force people to waste time on the road who don’t want to.
Complex and rigid application processes and systems
Bureaucracy and red tape in companies is generally mentioned as one of the main sources of employee dissatisfaction. Therefore it is baffling to see how many companies made me jump through rows and rows of hoops – some of them burning – just to get to the first interview. I get it, at Microsoft we were also swamped with applications and there are many SaaS offers out there that promise a company to deal with that in a convenient fashion for the recruiters.
But having to replicate all the information in a secondary system after people found me on LinkedIn and got my CV through the “Easy Apply” process was always the first indicator that we won’t get to where we both apparently want to.
I keep my LinkedIn profile tidy and up-to-date, same with my CV. So having to fill in multi-step forms, some of them with two factor authentication and CAPTCHAs with the same information is not only a colossal waste of time, but also worries me as it means there is a copy of my information that will not get an update when I change my CV.
Other companies made me sign an NDA to get information about the job. Well, as an open source advocate this doesn’t bode well to what I will create in this role.
I wrote in more detail about one company asking me to answer a lot of questions in a written interview. They then sent me an online test to assess my skills that I had to do within a week and took three hours, demanding a full block of that time as you couldn’t pause and continue.
As stated in that earlier post, I get the idea of treating every hire equally, but treating me like applicant number 2324234 instead of catering the test to my skills and the role was another big flag for me.
I have to mention one special case though: one company asked me to do a case study showing my skills and explaining how I solved issues and paid for my time. This was a very interesting approach which gives the company something to work with and the applicant a feeling of not wasting time.
Super aggressive timelines
Starting a new job is a big decision and nobody likes to get badgered. I understand that it’s also a lot of work for companies to hire new folks and get them up and running.
I explained in each communication when and why I can start and that I needed some time to stomach the change and get ready for the new job. And yet seven companies asked if I could start weeks earlier as things are broken and it would need my amazing fixing skills right now. This is flattering, but also a big red flag.
Another thing several companies did was send me a contract that I needed to digitally sign that had a fixed offer expiration date two days later. Sometimes these came on a Friday and I was asked to sign by Monday. Huge, 9-10 page contracts full of boilerplate not enforceable or even applicable.
This isn’t “I read the terms and conditions” before downloading a demo app. This is our professional work agreement. Companies and applicants should expect that there is a necessary review and alteration period.
Automated responses and processes with no context of your application
Especially with US companies but also with agencies and government affiliated companies I had a few run-ins when it comes to automated gatekeeping. Although the job offers mentioned “degree or comparable experience” many had forms where adding a degree was mandatory and I got automatically filtered out.
It also felt like a massive waste of time being contacted by recruiters because of your profile just to be asked by every single interviewer to repeat the information in the profile in interview forms. You can give an applicant a much better feeling of being in an onboarding process if information already provided gets sent on through the stages.
Boilerplate social benefits without insight into local or personal requirements
There is a big difference between a company providing a social benefits net to feel safe in and a company that tries to impress you with perk offers that seem great, but ultimately don’t apply to you.
Some companies I talked to obviously partnered with a third party provider that offered a US package that would make folks there happy but didn’t even cover the basic legal requirements in Germany. Workplaces need to contribute to the public healthcare fund or cover part of your personal insurance.
It is great that companies offer social perks, but the most grating thing I found in some of the offers is that they are a non-starter. Many social perks, like a personal pension fund partly covered by your employer, need years of accumulation to make sense. I had quite a few companies that offered them but when I asked about the average retention of employees in the company people admitted that most folks stay for a year and move on. This felt like a strange disconnect.
Aggressive haggling and the myth of competitive salary
There was no doubt that it would be tough for European companies to match the salary and compensation package of an 8 year career in a US tech giant. So I slashed 20% of what I had earned for the convenience of working for a company that isn’t confused about European tax, social packages benefits and support instead of perpetual growth demands.
However, some of the offers were just incredibly low considering the high taxation here. Even worse were offers that had no range or figure but offered “competitive salary” instead. When I offer “competitive skills” people probably would have questions, too.
I was very candid in my demands, which went down really well with all the people I talked to. When candid answers then told me that I would earn more than most of my peers or even managers I knew I couldn’t do it. It’s good to be clear.
Huge discrepancy between skills offered and skills needed without a plan to cover the gap
I was flattered by some of the offers as it would mean I had to push myself to learn new skills or transfer to have the ones I got into other environments. It’s also a concern when there was no mention of an adjustment period or introduction to internal systems and processes programs.
Sure, some skills are easy to transfer, but I remember vividly how much I hated dealing with managers coming in not knowing half of what I did and keeping things generic not to be found out. Maybe I was too chicken there, but it would be good not to be thrown into situations where you need to prove your skills to yourself and to the people you are supposed to lead.
No job offer will be a perfect match and it is a back and forth to meet in the middle. But it would be great to have clarity on what the process of getting to learn about the company environment is and how much time you have to get enough confidence to start running the team without feeling like a fraud.
Things applicants and companies can do to make this smoother
All in all, I had a positive experience on a human level but I found that there is a lot to be improved in the processes of finding a job in tech even on the senior level I am at. I can only imagine what it would be like to apply as a junior where the human excitement of your application isn’t as high. So here are some things I found any applicant should do and I could have done better.
As an applicant you should:
Get ready to have a lot of demands, things to fill out and do. I was kind of rushing things in the beginning, freaking out that I will need to find a new job soon. This lead to me applying for a lot of things at the same time and feeling overwhelmed with the work this meant. Don’t panic. You will find a job eventually. It makes a lot more sense to focus on a few offers and prepare yourself thoroughly than casting a wide net.
Have a clear goal what you want to do – there are a lot of exciting job offers, but if you apply for the reason of having a “cool” job, you ultimately don’t have the skills for and don’t feel you will get the time to learn them upfront, you are wasting people’s – and your – time.
Have a list of “must have” benefits and perks you don’t back out from – that includes a minimal salary and work situation definition (remote, hybrid, on-site – in the latter case including the information how long of a commute you are ready to take on)
Do your homework learning about the job offer, the company behind it and what you specifically can bring to the table. This includes a CV catered to the job application and role.
Communicate clearly your earliest possible start date and availability for interviews and tests – I used Calendly for that.
Communicate if you have other offers and by when these decisions are due – this is great to speed up the process
Appreciate the efforts and time of people involved – recruiters and interviewers have to deal with a lot of applications. Be on time for your interviews, don’t leave people hanging with answers and have your materials ready for the different steps of the process.
Companies should:
Value the work applicants put into the process. We spend a lot of time writing and optimising our CVs and LinkedIn profile, so use this information but don’t ask us to repeat it all the time or fill out your internal systems.
Be aware of the fact that automated systems with arbitrary gatekeeping mechanisms are great to stem the flood of mass applications and fake applications but will make you miss out on great talent and start the process with a bad experience if there are false positives
Value the time people need to ponder your job offer and give enough time read through contracts
Be aware that a job application and how it is handled is a first impression that goes both ways. We always have the impression that applicants have to put their best foot forward and spruce up to get the job, but in a highly paid environment with a severe lack of talent this very much goes both ways.
Give a sense of clarity of what the company wants to do in the next few years and how it would affect the applicant. Freelancing is always an option and people choose to join a company for the reason of having security, not help a company even find its place in the market.
I hope this is helpful to some. It helped me, writing it down. I am happy to have met so many interesting companies and people during this last month and hope to keep in contact and work together in other capacities.

  1. Impacted wisdom teeth: Wisdom teeth, also called third molars, often come in wrong or get stuck. This can cause pain, infection, and damage to the teeth around them. To avoid these problems, it may be suggested that the tooth be taken out.
  2. Orthodontic treatment: Some dental treatments, like braces, need to remove a tooth to make room for the other teeth to line up correctly.
The Tooth Extraction Process at Kiddie Dental Home
1. Consultation: The journey begins with a consultation with our experienced dentist for tooth extraction in PCMC, Dr. Ketaki Gudadhe-Shinde. She will examine your teeth, review X-rays if necessary, and discuss the reasons for extraction, the procedure itself, and any potential complications or risks.
2. Preparing for extraction: Before the extraction, our dentist will probably ask you a lot of questions about your health to make sure you are in good health generally. If you have certain health problems, they may also tell you to take medicines to prevent getting sick.
3. Local anesthesia: To make sure the extraction is not painful, a local anaesthetic will be used to numb the area. For difficult extractions or nervous patients, conscious sedation or general anaesthesia may be used.
4. Extraction techniques: The extraction method will depend on the condition and position of the tooth. Using an elevator to release the tooth and forceps to remove it, a simple extraction is performed. For impacted or severely damaged teeth, surgical extraction may be necessary, which involves making an incision to access the tooth and removing it in sections if necessary.
5. Post-extraction care: After the tooth is taken out, a piece of paper will be placed on the area to stop bleeding. Our dentist will give you detailed directions on how to care for yourself after a tooth extraction, including how to deal with pain, what foods to avoid, and how to clean your mouth properly.
Advantages of Tooth Extraction
1. Relief from Dental Pain: Extraction of a tooth may reduce serious pain caused by decay, infection, or trauma.
2. Preventing Infection Spread: The removal of a severely decayed or infected tooth can prevent the infection from extending to adjacent teeth and other areas of the mouth.
3. Orthodontic Preparation: Some dental treatments, like braces, may need to remove teeth to make room.
4. Wisdom Teeth Removal: Wisdom teeth are often the cause of crowding and misalignment, so they are usually taken out to keep the mouth healthy.
5. Preparing for Dentures: In some cases, removing teeth is the only way to make a good base for dentures.

2023.06.01 09:00 Robocentric Research lab animals use in medical biotech development (Robocentric biotech development plan)

https://reddit.com/link/13xamgt/video/ga4wy15bnc3b1/player

Animal testing is absolutely necessary for advancing biotech, I've concluded. When the right time, right circumstance, and right money come, I will do laboratory animal testing for advancing medical biotech, human longevity biotech, human genetic engineering biotech, human body manufacturing and replacement biotech, human fertility duration lengthening biotech, and other types of biotechnologies. I've a multidecadal commitment to advancing biotech for enabling long-lasting human life and youth, longer human fertility duration, and better human health for everyone.

Doing laboratory animal testing in the U.S. requires adhering to the U.S. federal, state, and local regulations. Boston in Massachusettes, and San Franciso in California, in particular, perform the most numbers of animal tests in the U.S., for advancing biomedicine and biotech.
The Animal Welfare Act is the U.S. federal law that regulates testing on certain types of animals.
According to my calculation, maintaining an Animal Welfare Act compliant animal testing facility in the U.S. requires at least a multiple six-figure U.S. dollars annual overhead or biotech research expense, and most likely over one-million U.S. dollars annual biotech research overhead; as such, it is not cheap.
Because my aim is building a variety of biotech businesses at Robocentric, with multiple biotech product lines, I don't have to have an Animal Welfare Act compliant animal testing facility in the U.S. to launch the first Robocentric biotech products. As such, I'll first establish and operate an animal testing facility in the U.S. that isn't applicable to the Animal Welfare Act, a non-Animal Welfare Act applicable animal testing facility in the U.S., which will be much cheaper than operating an Animal Welfare Act compliant animal testing facility in the U.S., and have very low overhead.
Robocentric will get into a variety of biotech businesses—namely research and medical biotech devices development and manufacturing, medicinal biotech, cosmetic biotech, supplement biotech, and industrial and consumer biomatter design and manufacturing biotech.
For a lot of the biotech products that Robocentric will develop and market, an Animal Welfare Act compliant animal testing facility won't be absolutely required, and a non-Animal Welfare Act applicable animal testing facility will do, although eventually Robocentric will need one or more Animal Welfare Act compliant animal testing facilities—perhaps in Boston, San Francisco, or both and maybe in other locations—for pushing biotech development and commercialization to the uttermost extremes.
Robocentric will do nonhuman animals genetic engineering experiments, documentation, and publication for advancing medical biotech for curing human genetic diseases by replacing disease-causing human genes with healthy human genes.
Robocentric will do fully robotized genetically engineered nonhuman animal care in confinement for the experiments, 3D scanning, and results publication.
Robocentric will write and publish "Robocentric biotech development plan for nonhuman animals genetic engineering experiments, documentation, and publication for advancing medical biotech for curing human genetic diseases by replacing disease-causing human genes with healthy genes".
Robocentric will do genetic engineering experiments especially on nonhuman primates, for creating improved nonhuman primates with faster reproduction cycles, and for creating human genetic disease cures.
Robocentric will write and publish "Robocentric biotech development protocols and processes for breeding and performing experiments on nonhuman primates for developing medical biotech with regulations to abide by".
Robocentric will do age acceleration and deceleration, anti-aging, and deaging biotech development experiments on nonhuman primates such as on chimps for medical research including cancer cure research, human longevity biotech development, and nonhuman-animal and human aging control biotech development.
Robocentric biotech research nonhuman animal breeding and nursery facility in the U.S. will have maximum robotization with less than US$250,000 per year upkeep cost, with all animals in triple confinement (three layers of walls and doors), in comfortably large spaces, with robot-only access in animal confinements for cleaning, feeding, and animal wastes removal.
Robocentric will develop and commercialize chimpanzee genetic engineering biotech, growth hormone biotech, and neurotech—for enabling chimpanzee growth accelerator (for enabling reaching sexual maturity in less than a year), and breeding accelerator (for enabling reproducing every year or less), for much faster biomedical research.
Robocentric will build and maintain its biotech research nonhuman animal breeding and nursery facility or facilities in the U.S., starting at the most appropriate time.
Robocentric will do human fertility duration lengthening biotech R&D (especially for women), which will require nonhuman animal testing, on both non-primates and primates.
Robocentric will do human blindness and deafness cure research, including medical human genetic engineering biotech research. More than 350 eye diseases are attributed to hereditary factors.
Robocentric will do animal testing because research lab animals will provide valuable biological insights for curing the human body diseases, disabilities, damages, and conditions.
At Robocentric Biotech, we'll treat our research lab animals with dignity, respect, and humane care.
Robocentric will specify in writing and publish how and why research lab animals are used at Robocentric Biotech research facility—for curing human body diseases and disabilities and damages, for developing human longevity biotech, for developing human fertility duration lengthening biotech, for curing human-food animal diseases, for biotech research data measurement, documentation, and publication.
The types of research lab animals used at Robocentric Biotech research facility will be rodents, farm animals, nonhuman primates including chimps, and more.
For developing and commercializing aging control and human fertility duration lengthening biotechnologies, Robocentric will research creating genetically engineered chimpanzees and bonobos with fast growth and sexual maturity, and shorter reproduction cycle.
I will author and publish "Robocentric biotech development sequence and research lab animals breeding, nurturing, and usage plan", which will include the following.
First, rodent, human-food animal, and nonhuman primates whole-body microscopic 3D scanning, recording, and publication. Second, rodent, human-food animal, and nonhuman primates whole-body biochemical composition analysis and determination, recording, and publication. Third, rodent, human-food animal, and nonhuman primates cancer cure biotech, neurological diseases cure biotech, infectious diseases cure biotech, anti-aging and deaging biotech, genetic engineering biotech, and neurotech development, result recording and publication.
The Robocentric biotech development lab will have enough space for breeding and nurturing all the lab animals–rodents, human-food animals, nonhuman primates, and many more.
At Robocentric, GE-NHP means Genetically Engineered NonHuman Primate. Robocentric will do GE-NHP biomolecule, cell component, cell, tissue, organ, limb, and whole-body manufacturing and replacement experiments for developing human body manufacturing and replacement biotech.
My view is avoiding live animal testing to the maximum extent possible, especially nonhuman primate testing, opting to use manufactured human and nonhuman biomolecules, cell components, cells, tissues, organs, and limbs instead.
Performing tests on live research-lab animals is something I would love to avoid in developing medical biotech, human longevity biotech, and human fertility duration lengthening biotech, because I prefer to avoid harming animals, but for now I think some degree of live research-lab animal testing will probably have to be done to some extent in developing medical biotech, human longevity biotech, and human fertility duration lengthening biotech. I want to avoid doing experiments on nonhuman primates, so I'll avoid it to the maximum extent possible.
But I'm aware that some difficult choices will have to be made in performing tests on live research-lab animals, especially nonhuman primates. For example, when developing a human genetic engineering biotech for curing a genetically caused human blindness, blindness cure genetic engineering tests must be performed on nonhuman primates, such as monkeys, chimpanzees, and other apes—before human clinical trials—and the test-subject nonhuman primates will have to euthanized and dissected, and their body parts will have to be photographed, microscoped, spectroscoped, biochemically analyzed, recorded, and published for advancing bioscience and biotechnology.
Sacrificing nonhuman animal lives to protect and save human lives is a difficult choice to make; but I'm aware that it's a difficult decision that must be made, and a difficult act that must be performed, because that is the only way to develop human disease cures and protect and safeguard human lives. So, when the time comes, I'll plan, direct, coordinate, fund, and publicly communicate performing tests on live research-lab animals, for developing medical biotech, human longevity biotech, and human fertility duration lengthening biotech.
At Robocentric Biotech, first and foremost, biotech development experiments will be done on the animals excluded from the Animal Welfare Act—namely, "birds (such as turkey and chicken), rats of the genus Rattus, and mice of the genus Mus, bred for use in research, and cold-blooded animals, insects, and invertebrates".
Biotech development experiments on the species of animals covered by the Animal Welfare Act will be done according to the regulation.
Starting with microscopic 3D biomatter scanning, biomatter biochemical analysis and determination, genetic engineering, biomatter manufacturing and replacement testing, neurotech testing on lab-research birds, rats, mice, cold-blooded animals, insects, and invertebrates—then expanding to the species of animals covered by the Animal Welfare Act according to the regulation.
Robocentric will do research on developing nonhuman-primate artificial wombs, for developing human fertility disease and disability cures, and lengthening human fertility periods.
Robocentric will design and publish triple-walled lab animal enclosures—initially for birds, rats, mice, cold-blooded animals, insects, and invertebrates—with security and survelliance cameras, then eventually for the animals covered by the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) for expanding biotech development experiments with a licensing by and registration with USDA under the AWA or Animal Welfare Act.
Before each lab-animal surgery for biotech development and testing, Robocentric will notify the relevant federal, state, and local government agencies and relevant institutions (such as National Institutes of Health) in writing.
Robocentric will constantly report to the relevant federal, state, and local government agencies, and related organizations and institutions, when doing live animal testing for biotech development, with citing their laws, their promotions, their policies, and their recommended practices—as a part of Robocentric biotech development and commercialization process constellation.
In doing animal testing for biotech development and commercialization, Robocentric will work with the applicable U.S. federal government agencies (namely, FDA, USDA, and DEA if using controlled substances in animal testing), state government agencies (namely state board of pharmacy and state board of veterinary medical examiners), and local government agencies. Robocentric will also work with relevant institutions and organizations such as National Institutes of Health, and American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).

It's the month of JUNE and this is the THIRD straight year I'm creating an awareness post regarding an issue I believe is an important one in our beloved country of Malaysia! [Featuring the beautiful #JalurGaymilang Flag]

The beautiful flag above was designed 6 years ago >>here<<. by lelarentaka.

Hello Malaysia!

Every year since 2021, I've been creating a post to improve the awareness on the persecutions, sufferings and discrimination faced by the LGBT community in our country. My previous posts can be found below:
2021 LGBTQ+ Pride Month awareness for Malaysia article and poll:

Create a safe country for the LGBT community in Malaysia!

Why highlight awareness about LGBTQ+ rights?

Although I have my own religious views personally (as seen >>here<<), I still believe that the LGBTQ+ community should have basic human rights. We bleed the same red blood cells and to be kind/respectful to one another is just the right thing to do if we want to move forward as a nation.

What are the rights we're talking about here?

(1) Protection from violence and hate crimes
Hate crimes against LGBTQ individuals are still shockingly prevalent across Malaysia. We can see online bullying and condemnation like it's normal in this country. Hate towards LGBTQ+ community in Malaysia is like drinking water. The scary thing is... we don't know how far the bullying goes for LGBTQ+ students at school, work places and so on.
Coldplay and LGBT issues brought up in Malaysia
(2) Employment Discrimination
In most cases in Malaysia, gay and trans individuals are frowned upon. Regardless of job performance or ability, a person can lose their job if their boss finds out about and disagrees with their identity. The lack of protections force individuals (of the LGBTQ+ community) in work places to remain in the closet, guarding the secrets of who they are, in order to earn a living. This should not be the case for an employee working their ass off in this country.
LOVE is LOVE
(3) The right to get married in civil union or even be intimate with each other
They can get jailed or even whacked if being caught doing so and at the very least, 2 guys who wanna get married can't roll up to JPN (Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara) and do so.
(4) Others
There are many other rights that are lacking for the LGBTQ+ community.. Parenting la.. this la.. that la.. but I think the above things are the priority to get things going for our country.

Introduction

The LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) community in Malaysia faces unique challenges within the cultural and legal landscape of the country. Malaysia, a Southeast Asian nation known for its diverse ethnic makeup and predominantly Muslim population, has traditionally held conservative attitudes towards homosexuality and transgender identities.
In Malaysia, same-sex sexual activity is criminalized under Section 377 of the Penal Code, a colonial-era law inherited from British rule. This law imposes penalties for "carnal intercourse against the order of nature," which is broadly interpreted to include same-sex relations. The legal environment creates a climate of discrimination and marginalization for LGBT individuals.

Public discourse surrounding LGBT issues in Malaysia often reflects a combination of religious, cultural, and political perspectives. Conservative religious beliefs, particularly influenced by Islam, play a significant role in shaping societal attitudes towards homosexuality and gender non-conformity.
As a result of these factors, the LGBT community in Malaysia faces various challenges. They often experience stigma, discrimination, and harassment, both in their personal lives and within broader society. This can manifest in issues such as limited legal protections, employment discrimination, social ostracization, and restricted access to healthcare services.
Sinar Harian's guide to pinpoint an LGBT person
Despite these challenges, the LGBT community in Malaysia continues to work towards greater visibility, acceptance, and equality. Activists and organizations have emerged to advocate for LGBT rights, providing support, education, and resources to the community. Their efforts aim to challenge stereotypes, promote understanding, and foster a more inclusive society.
It is important to note that discussing LGBT topics openly in Malaysia may still be considered sensitive, and individuals advocating for LGBT rights often face opposition and legal challenges.

Accepting the LGBT community in Malaysia is crucial for several reasons:

  • Human Rights and Equality: Acceptance of the LGBT community is a fundamental aspect of upholding human rights and equality. All individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, deserve the same basic rights and protections as any other citizen. Embracing diversity and respecting the rights of LGBT individuals ensures that they are not subjected to discrimination, violence, or harassment solely based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.
  • Well-being and Mental Health: Acceptance plays a significant role in the well-being and mental health of LGBT individuals. When individuals are accepted for who they are, they experience a sense of belonging and self-worth. Conversely, when they face rejection or discrimination, it can lead to higher rates of depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. Acceptance and support from families, friends, and society at large can positively impact the mental and emotional well-being of LGBT individuals.

  • Social Harmony and Inclusion: Acceptance of the LGBT community fosters social harmony and inclusion. A society that values diversity and respects the rights of all its members is more likely to be cohesive and inclusive. By embracing LGBT individuals and recognizing their contributions to society, Malaysia can work towards creating an environment that celebrates differences and promotes unity among its citizens.
  • Economic Benefits: Embracing the LGBT community can have positive economic effects. When discrimination against LGBT individuals is reduced, they can fully participate in the workforce, contribute their skills and talents, and drive economic growth. Inclusive workplaces that value diversity and provide equal opportunities for all employees tend to be more productive and innovative.

  • International Reputation: Malaysia's stance on LGBT rights can have an impact on its international reputation. A country that demonstrates a commitment to human rights, inclusivity, and acceptance is often viewed positively by the global community. This can contribute to stronger diplomatic relations, attract international investments, and promote tourism.
Ultimately, accepting the LGBT community in Malaysia is about recognizing the inherent dignity and worth of all individuals. It is an essential step towards building a more just, equal, and compassionate society where everyone can live authentically and without fear of discrimination.

Making Indonesia as an example to accept the LGBT community

Malaysia could look to Indonesia as an example of how certain regions within a Muslim-majority country have embraced LGBTQ acceptance to some extent. While Indonesia still faces challenges, it has seen the emergence of LGBTQ organizations and social initiatives advocating for equal rights. The presence of such organizations could inspire Malaysian activists to foster similar initiatives and promote dialogue and understanding surrounding LGBTQ issues.

Furthermore, Malaysia and Indonesia share cultural and historical ties, and both countries have diverse interpretations of Islam. Malaysia could draw from Indonesia's experience to encourage open discussions within its own society, emphasizing the principles of compassion, respect, and justice within the Islamic framework. By engaging in dialogue and learning from Indonesia's progress, Malaysia can work towards fostering greater acceptance and inclusivity for the LGBTQ community.

From the article >>HERE<<, we can see a great example of the above. Here is a quick summary regarding the article:
The article discusses the rare oasis of LGBTQ acceptance in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, at the Al-Fatah Islamic school. Founded by Shinta Ratri, a trans woman, the school provides education and support to transgender women. The article highlights the challenges faced by the LGBTQ community in Muslim-majority countries, where same-sex relationships are often criminalized and LGBTQ individuals face discrimination and hostility.
The article mentions Indonesia's relative tolerance compared to many other Muslim nations, where LGBTQ organizations operate openly and advocate for equal rights. However, there are still limitations and conservative attitudes prevail, especially in provinces practicing Sharia law. The resistance to LGBTQ rights is reinforced by religious authorities and cultural values, and outside pressure for change is often dismissed as interference.
https://preview.redd.it/244eshzxqc3b1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=dcfc3c11bf4e8aa25f0bf1e6d7597407159ff51b
The situation in other Muslim and Arab countries is also discussed, highlighting the lack of progress in terms of LGBTQ rights and the combination of religious attitudes and resentment towards external influence. The article touches on cases from Lebanon, Turkey, and Iraq, where LGBTQ individuals face discrimination, violence, and legal persecution.
In conclusion, the article portrays a challenging landscape for LGBTQ acceptance in Muslim-majority countries, with pockets of progress but limited government support and widespread societal prejudice.

Accepting the LGBT community in Malaysia brings about numerous benefits:

  • Social Progress: Embracing the LGBT community promotes social progress and inclusivity. It signals a shift towards a more open-minded and tolerant society that values diversity. This progress allows for greater acceptance of all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, fostering a more harmonious and cohesive society.
  • Health and Well-being: Acceptance positively impacts the health and well-being of LGBT individuals. When they feel accepted and supported, they are more likely to seek healthcare services, access mental health support, and maintain overall well-being. This can lead to improved physical and mental health outcomes for the LGBT community.
Malaysia LGBT Flag
  • Economic Growth: Acceptance of the LGBT community can contribute to economic growth. By promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities, businesses and organizations can harness the skills, talents, and purchasing power of the LGBT community. This leads to increased productivity, innovation, and consumer spending, benefiting both individual businesses and the overall economy.
  • Tourism and International Relations: Embracing the LGBT community can have a positive impact on tourism and international relations. Many countries and travelers consider LGBT-friendly destinations when making travel choices. By cultivating an inclusive and welcoming environment, Malaysia can attract a broader range of tourists, boost its tourism industry, and enhance its international reputation as a progressive and inclusive nation.
  • Talent Retention and Attraction: Acceptance of the LGBT community is attractive to talented individuals, including both Malaysians and international professionals. Creating an inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated helps to retain local talent and attract skilled individuals from around the world. This benefits various sectors, including academia, arts and culture, technology, and entrepreneurship.
https://preview.redd.it/xl65o4lvlc3b1.png?width=700&format=png&auto=webp&s=7796e6aeb3e1eb0665ea8478644aa82fc2f8ef5f
  • Reduction in Discrimination and Violence: Acceptance can contribute to a reduction in discrimination and violence against the LGBT community. When societal attitudes shift towards acceptance, individuals are less likely to face harassment, hate crimes, or social exclusion. This creates safer environments where individuals can express their identities freely, fostering a culture of respect and understanding.
  • Human Rights and Equality: Embracing the LGBT community is an affirmation of human rights and equality. It reinforces the principle that every individual, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, deserves equal rights, dignity, and protection under the law. This commitment to human rights strengthens the overall fabric of society and upholds the principles of justice and fairness.

In summary, accepting the LGBT community in Malaysia leads to social progress, better health outcomes, economic growth, improved international relations, talent retention, reduced discrimination and violence, and upholding human rights and equality. It is a step towards building a more inclusive, prosperous, and harmonious society for all Malaysians.

CLOSING WORDS

Malaysia still has a long way to go in terms of accepting the LGBT community as they are. The country's cultural, religious, and legal context has presented significant challenges for progress in this area. However, change is possible, and there are steps that can be taken to promote acceptance and understanding.
Promoting education and raising awareness about sexual orientation, gender identity, and the experiences of the LGBT community can help challenge misconceptions and reduce stigma. Initiatives in schools, universities, workplaces, and community organizations can foster understanding and empathy through education and awareness campaigns.
We need to educate future Malaysians continuously!
Advocacy for legal reforms is essential for advancing LGBT rights in Malaysia. Reviewing and amending existing laws that criminalize same-sex sexual activity can be a crucial step toward decriminalization. Additionally, introducing anti-discrimination laws that protect individuals based on sexual orientation and gender identity can help prevent discrimination in various spheres of life.
Ensuring that healthcare services are inclusive and sensitive to the needs of the LGBT community is vital. Training healthcare professionals to provide non-judgmental care, addressing specific health concerns of LGBT individuals, and promoting access to gender-affirming healthcare are crucial steps toward improving the overall well-being of the community.
While the road to acceptance may be challenging, progress can be made through a collective effort involving individuals, communities, organizations, and policymakers. It requires ongoing dialogue, advocacy, and a commitment to human rights and equality to create a more inclusive and accepting Malaysia for the LGBT community.

2023.06.01 07:54 blackhawkfan312 GYNO: Mirena IUD - sharp stabbing pains. MD checked device placement last week, it’s placement and strings are fine. What could be wrong?

F33, 5’3” 130lbs, generally physically healthy. no alcohol for over a year, no rec drugs.
I’m headed to schedule a follow up for an ultrasound but I wanted to ask because I’m curious.
Pregnancy test last week at the doctors office was negative. Not sexually active for about 6 months.
I had a Mirena IUD implanted over a year ago.
A month ago I felt a series of stabbing pains - not cramps - like something was stabbing me with the point of a knife. Made me double over a few times. Slight spotting (enough to use a tampon) at this time.
Lately I feel abdominal fullness when I sit and drive. I feel the stabbing less frequently now so I’m not AS worried, but I’m still scheduling the ultrasound. I still know something is wrong. 😔
My mom had a hysterectomy for some reason when she was my age (me-30’s, she was 40-or 50-something.) but I forgot to ask her why. This may give some clues when I ask her.
Physical health is otherwise fine.
Wondered what some GYNs would have to say.
Thanks.
Uteruses can be a pain.

2023.06.01 07:48 thiccbeefpatty Is this supposed to be there?

Is this supposed to be there?
Went to ER last night, had face swelling and droopy right side of lip, tightness in throat area that won’t go away. Ct scan says no stroke, which I’m happy about. Supposedly all images were reviewed along with blood tests. I was pumped with steroids for rash /swelling and discharged. The images were posted to my portal this morning and I saw this white long rectangular spots on my throat area. I had to follow up with my primary this morning, she insists is from my hospital gown. I had only undies under my gown and a very small stretchy band to hold my hair. I don’t know what to think. Throat still feels a little tight and currently still getting rashes in neck and clavicle area despite steroid shots. For more background info, I had an endoscopy to check some stomach issues a bit over a month ago, couldn’t eat much after, been kinda uncomfortable ever since but tried not to think much about it, since supposedly “everything went well”. help please !Thank you in advance!

2023.06.01 07:43 Chan-chan-mannn Muslim gay man please help… ( long reddit post, sorry)

Hello everyone, I’m an Albanian muslim guy born and raised in America. Im not a practicing muslim but i do believe in Allah and the Quran. I’ve had this dilemma every since i was young, around 5 years old I started noticing i could be gay, i felt something was different. I thought boys were cute and had crushes. I’ve always suppressed these feelings till this day i am 31 years old now. Growing up i always knew i could be gay but was in a deep denial. People in school would always ask if i was gay and bully me about it even when denying it and some cousins would tease me due to my feminine traits.
I grew up knowing everyone around me hated gay people and knowing i could possibly be gay was very hard and lonely thing to deal with. You start to mask your self and lead a life with 2 sides one on the outside that is approved by your family and society, and one that is all in your head that know one knows about.
It was a very lonely experience growing up knowing i could not speak to anyone about this issue because the fear of what could happen. Keeping everything bottled up, Always watching what you say and do just not to tip off anyones gaydar. my family wasn’t too religious but we believed in god. i knew this was a totally taboo issue in islam. My mom developed schizophrenia when i was 8 years old and soon after my family and relatives became very into the religion. Throughout the years i really struggled with my sexuality and my mental health declined due to this.
I was diagnosed with OCD and Depression at 16 years old. Although i always had symptoms it didn’t become as bad and noticeable until around 16 years old and seeked help from a mental health professional whom prescribed me antidepressants and anxiety medication. I dealt with severe OCD which robbed me of my teenage years and my twenties. I dropped out of high school in 11th grade because the OCD and Depression became so severe I couldn’t even get out of bed and make it to class. when i did make it to class i was filled with so much anxiety i would end up cutting class to escape it.
In my late teens and twenties I would stay home alot and would isolate from the world. I developed social anxiety as well during my time being isolated. A few years ago i started to break free from my demons during the pandemic and feel alot better than i ever have ever since developing OCD and depression. I also stopped taking medication when the pandemic started because I wanted to know how it feels to be medication free, i wanted to feel.
I’ve only had one girl friend in my life and that was at 15 years old. I am a virgin and have never done anything with a girl or guy in my life. I hate that i am attracted to men and am not attracted to women, it kills me because i don’t want to live that lifestyle whatsoever.
I just can’t imagine being with a women and getting married, having children while lying/acting for the rest of my life. I would never want to put any women in that position and bring kids into this life and do that to them as well. I don’t want to live a dishonest life but i also can’t imagine live a gay lifestyle. I try to imagine my life single, celibate and alone but what a miserable life that would be. I see my friends and family getting into relationships, engaged and married and i get so depressed knowing that will never be me. Family and friends asking if i am talking to anyone or if I’m in a relationship and offering to set me up. Im 31 and i know people are suspicious as to why i haven’t been in a relationship and am always single. I understand this is a test from Allah but why, why me?
I feel this has destroyed my whole life and i missed out on so much time, experience and love that i can never get back. My life has been a standstill for so many years and i don’t know how much of this i could take. I fear Allah and fear committing this sin if i ever decided to give in to my desires. I fear what my family will say and do if i ever told them. I have an amazing family but this would destroy them and they would look at me differently from then on, and probably disown me.
So reddit i ask what would you do? Any advice? Please don’t be harsh I’m already embarrassed enough posting this on here.
Thank you in advanced..

2023.06.01 07:12 Emotional_League5017 Gastritis tips/advice

Here are some things I’ve learned.. still learning
-You have to be a little tough with yourself, especially with avoiding alcohol. I loved coffee and alcohol these last few years but now I haven’t had any in months and will probably continue not to. A little sad but I’m realizing the health benefits of avoiding it, I actually have more energy, I’m not so reliant/addicted. I’ve had some matcha and a few sips of wine for taste and that’s been ok
-Managing anxiety, stress, emotions. We live in stressful times and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this community grew in pandemic times, even among very young people. Trying to lessen stress is so important.. and worrying too much about certain foods or micro symptoms can make it worse. Breathe, stay busy, talk it out, get outside, one day at a time.. I’ve also learned: stress/anxiety causes gastritis but gastritis causes as a symptom more stress/anxiety. I am not super anxious naturally, but during a bad flare up I felt an unusual type of physical, inflamed anxiety which subsided when my other symptoms did.. worst in the morning too. So you’re probably not going crazy like you think you are. It’s a symptom. And I’m here if anyone needs to talk!
-Make sure you don’t get anemic which could magnify tiredness, shortness of breath, etc (I sometimes take a tonic from Whole Foods- Floradix, and drink some wheatgrass smoothies..supplements don’t help much) This is especially important for ladies after their time of the month
-Also keep your blood sugar up too, or you could feel worse. Sometimes you do feel better after an eating.. even if you think you won’t. Even just a snack. Helps with mood dips and energy too
-Back when I had no idea what was going on but suspected stomach issues I tried good old pepto bismo which gave me some relief. But if you suspect an ulcer don’t try it!
-Calm magnesium drink helps with anxiety.. low mag can cause anxiety and PPI can deplete magnesium! It’s available on Amazon or at Whole Foods
-I wanted to do all the tests I could for peace of mind. The nurse thought I was “too young” for an endoscopy but I’m glad I did it since it can detect all kinds of issues. (I was nervous but I didn’t remember any of it!) You have to be a little persistent. Ask questions, record symptoms
-So many mixed reviews on PPI.. but I think if it’s not getting better for weeks, months it’s worth a try. I finally found some relief with it. If you don’t want to try it or if it gives you side effects, Pepcid is a good alternative. Natural remedies are always best.. but sometimes you do need a little extra help
Hope this can help someone out a little!
