2023.06.01 08:39 IIDSIIScorpion Dog abooz!!!!!!!1!1!!!1!

Owning a dog is inherently unfair to the animal. When you purchase a dog from a breeder or a pet store, you often overlook the fact that you're depriving them of a natural and fulfilling life for your own selfish companionship. Every pet dog is born into captivity. Their mother was impregnated, most likely against her will, and when her offspring was born they were separated from their mother and siblings, and brought into an environment that can never truly replicate their natural habitat. Dogs, being descendants of wolves, have an instinctual drive to hunt, explore, and form social bonds within their pack. However, when we confine them to our homes, we strip away their freedom to engage in these natural behaviors. They don't even know their cousins and they usually have no friends that are other dogs. They are unable to experience the joy of running freely, chasing prey, or forming deep connections with other dogs.
You cut their tails and ears off and don't even let them have a girlfriend. What kind of life is that? You cut off your dogs balls and turn him into an incel until the day he dies because it's more convenient for your to not look after your dog and their significant other? Some dogs might even be gay and not ever get the chance to explore their sexuality because you're too busy making them get a tennis ball that you threw across the garden and bring it back to you. You subject them to a life of domestication, limiting their world to the four walls of our houses and control their diets; feeding them processed 'kibble'. We restrict their interactions, denying them the opportunity to form meaningful relationships with their own kind. We prioritize our own convenience and entertainment over their innate needs and desires. We've all seen that episode of Rick and Morty. Everyone reading this would hate to be a pet dog. You might even learn to love your masters eventually, but no one in their right mind would give up their autonomy and freedom to be confined to a life of drinking tap water and watching commercials all weekend, broken up by sleeping and a 30 minute walk around the block before it gets dark outside where they're restrained by their neck in case they try to make a break for it after that slight taste of freedom. To truly provide a fair life for a dog as a pet, I would argue that you would need to at least live on a vast, open farm where the dog could roam freely, hunt, and socialize with other dogs. They would have the freedom to choose their mates, raise a family, and live in harmony with their instincts. Unfortunately, this is not the reality for most pet owners and they are confined to living in a cul-de-sac and never even knowing their roots, for around 12 years until they die and you replace them with a new one. We must acknowledge that by keeping dogs as pets in our homes, we are essentially depriving them of a full and authentic existence. While we may provide them with love and care, it is important to recognize that they are still natural beasts living within the confines of a human-centric world. You stole them from their family to bring them to your house and they have to follow the rules of a place that you forced them to be like eat the same meal everyday on the floor while your tastebuds get to try cuisines from all over the world. I it's time we rethink pet ownership entirely and maybe consider alternative ways to interact with animals. Allowing them to live a real and fulfilling life with actual experiences, dreams, fears, and hopes, instead of being used just for entertainment.

2023.06.01 07:00 ShiverMeTriggers Imagine if you could staple an inheritable skill/weapon's effects to your PRF(s). What would you do and for whom?

Just for fun. Take a PRF weapon or skill your unit has, and add the effect of an inheritable weapon or skill (that fills the same slot) to it. The effect is treated as an entirely separate addition to the existing effects of your PRF weapon or skill.
Rules:
1) When adding an inheritable weapon's effect to your PRF weapon, you generally have to use the same weapon type. However, swords/lances/axes can all share (meaning a lance PRF could take an effect from an inheritable axe, for example), since there tends to be a sword/lance/axe version of the same inheritable effect (or at least two out of the three). Likewise, red/green/blue/colorless tomes can all share. Bows and daggers are separate. Since beasts don't have inheritables, they can take from swords/lances/axes/dragonstones (but they don't get adaptive damage.)
2) When adding an inheritable skill to your PRF A/B/C skill or special/assist, you have to choose an inheritable from the same slot as well an inheritable that your unit can actually use (sorry ranged fliers.)
3) If you want (and your unit could normally use it), you can combine a defensive special with an offensive special, but since that new skill could activate both on the defense or offense, you might not be able to time it as well as you'd like.
4) If your unit can you use it, you can combine your PRF special with Galeforce, if you want.
5) You can't pick Special Spiral, Scowl skills, Close/Distant Counter (and their variants), or Null C Disrupt as your "fusion" fodder.
6) For weapons, you can't use Arcane weapons, weapons with a brave effect, or firesweep weapons as "fusion" fodder. However, feel free to use an Arcane weapon as your base and fuse something else onto it. You can using a slaying weapon to add a slaying effect to your PRF weapon, but you can't stack slaying effects (or special slowing effects, if you wanted to do that for some reason.)
For example:
Rhea would benefit a lot from Surprise Breath on her weapon, with the extra ATK/RES and inflicting a massive penalty on the foe's ATK/RES.
True Dragon Wall could combo really nicely with something like ATK/RES Tempo (for some stats and preventing accelerated specials), Mystic Boost 4 (for more healing, staff counters, and the ATK debuff), or even something like regular Dragon Wall or Lull ATK/RES. Shield Pulse could potentially be fun to set up protection on the first hit, when the true damage reduction doesn't apply. ATK/RES Bulwark, if it's ever released, would be cool too.

2023.06.01 06:31 peachismile Trip Report: First trip to Japan, 8 days Mid-May (Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Nara, Kyoto)

Hi everyone! Just came back from my first trip to Japan. It has always been my biggest dream to visit Japan since I was a kid and I'm so glad I finally got the chance to go! The trip was actually planned by my boyfriend who booked everything for us in May, which is my birthday month.
Tips:
Make Reservations Months in Advance! We made reservations for cafes, activities, restaurants, and even trains months in advance to make sure we would be able to do everything we wanted; we were not taking any risks and we were so thankful for our reservations. Make sure to do your research about when to make reservations months in advance.
Pack and Travel Light. Japan isn't really suited for traveling with big luggage to haul around. The trains can get incredibly crowded, you’ll probably be walking around and using stairs frequently, and hotel rooms can be very small at times. I recommend bringing a small rolling luggage and a large backpack and only pack what you need. Leave some room in your luggage for souvenirs or snacks to bring back.
Get Yen immediately at the airport or at the nearest convenience store! You will definitely need yen for a good amount of places in Japan. My boyfriend and I tried to load money in our Suica but the machine we used only accepted yen. Luckily we found a nearby conbini that accepted our debit card but we couldn't use our credit cards for some reason because the atm required a pin number. I might have accepted Mastercard but we both didn't have one.
Bringing comfortable shoes is a must in Japan! I brought comfortable shoes and my feet still hurt by the third day because we were walking and standing most of the days. I also recommend buying Lion’s Foot Patch if you find it at a conbini (I think we bought them at Lawsons) as the gel patch felt so good after a long day of walking!
Plan more days to relax. Although I have no regrets doing all the fun things we planned for our trip, I do wish we had more rest days in Japan, especially when our feet were so sore and we were so sleep deprived from waking up early. I wish we would have stayed a full 2 weeks in Japan and planned relaxing things to do in between our activities like visiting an Onsen and staying in a Ryokan.
Get to popular places early! My boyfriend and I would wake up at 5am to get ready and beat the morning rush hour and to get to popular places before the crowds showed up, it definitely worked out well for us.
Use hotel luggage transport or lockers when necessary. The luggage transport was especially useful when traveling long distances and carrying luggage through the trains would just be a hassle. All we had to do was just talk to our hotel clerk and give him the information for our next hotel we would be sending it to, and the clerk did the rest of the work. The luggage would usually arrive 2 days after we sent it. For the rest of the time, we just used lockers at train stations to store our luggage as we went sightseeing.
Trip Report:
Sunday May 14: Arrival and TokyoDisney
Arrival at Narita Airport
Arrival was simple, fast, and easy. For immigration and customs, we just had to scan our QR codes and passport and also take a picture.
Yen situation
As we arrived at Disney by bus, we wanted to use the coin lockers to store our luggage. The lockers only took suica (maybe yen too) so we tried to buy a suica but the machines only took yen (it didn't look like it took foreign cards). We tried walking to 7/11but it was closed so we ended up just walking to our hotel to drop off luggage. We ended up spending more than an hour walking everywhere and only had 2 hours for Disney.)
Tokyo Disney
The only ride we had time for was the beauty and the beast ride and it was amazing! We loved our experience inside the castle and we were amazed how fluid the animatronics were. If I could recommend one ride in Disney it would be this one. We did have time to go on one more ride so we went on the Monsters Inc ride which was just a shooter game and was just okay.
Monday May 15: Tokyo- DisneySea
Before we went to disneysea, we wanted to try some convenience store food so we went to Lawsons and Family Mart. The convenience store food was delicious! The onigiri tastes better than the ones in the US, the chicken in the hot food section was so juicy and delicious! Definitely recommend eating the hot foods and drinks. We tried getting money out of the ATM with our Visa credit cards but it didnt work so we used our debit card because the atm required a pin number.
Tokyo Disneysea
We arrived at Disneysea almost an hour early and we still had to wait in line. After the gates opened, we went straight to Journey to the Center of the Earth, but it broke down before we were able to ride it. The staff did offer us a fast pass to use for the ride later when it would be fixed. When the ride was working again, we headed back, used the fast pass and immediately got on the ride. It was a fun. fast, and short ride. All the rides at disneysea are pretty short and are moderately thrilling. Afterwards, we went to the submarine ride, 20,000 leagues under the sea, which was a unique experience and a very chill ride. Next was the Indiana jones ride; it was fun and a much better ride than the one in california. Then we went to Tower of terror which wasn't too scary. We also went to Soaring which actually has really long lines and wait time but it was a cool experience. The ride with the longest line was probably toy story mania; we decided not to go on the ride because of the long lines and we've been to the one in california. Kings triton castle was the most beautiful area to look at and explore, our favorite part of the area was exploring ariel's trinket room. Lots of rides were closed the day we went so we didnt get to ride on the spirits roller coaster, autopia, and explorers. My favorite food i tried there was the Ukiwa bun.
We also got to eat at Magellan which is one of the more expensive dining options. We didn't make a reservation until that very same day but we luckily able to reserve a spot in the morning. The food was tasty and it was my first time going to a fancier kind of restaurant that offered 3 course meal that were all tiny portions. I got the cheaper option (around $40 or $60, i cant remember) and it was very delicious. My boyfriend got the most expensive option (around $100) and it tasted terrible! I wouldnt recommend getting the most expensive option there.
Tuesday May 16: Tokyo-Harajuku
Harajuku
We took the trains to get to Harajuku and it was a little overwhelming trying to figure out how to find our train the first few times but, after a while, it became a very easy process. We used google maps to find the trains we needed to take. Then at the train stations, we looked for signs with the name of the train line we needed and followed the arrows and asked for directions when we needed extra help. Then we used our suica card to tap into the specific station we needed to be at to find our train. Next we looked for the PLATFORM NUMBER our train would be arriving at and followed the signs for that number. Once at the platform, we confirmed if we were at the right place by making sure the ARRIVAL TIME, PLATFORM NUMBER, and TRAIN LINE on the digital signs matched the one from our google maps. Make sure to follow train etiquette by stepping to the side to let people out of the train and putting your backpack in front of you if the train is really crowded.
At Harajuku station, we put our luggage in coin lockers for the day so we could explore. We went to a conbini, grabbed some food for breakfast and went to Yoyogi park to eat since nothing was open at 7am. After eating, we went to Meiji shrine for a bit, which is also near yoyogi park, and then headed back to harajuku so we wouldn't be late for our mipig reservations.
Mipig cafe was our favorite cafe and one of our favorite experiences in japan! The pigs were so loving and friendly, they came right up to us and laid on our laps after the staff put some blankets on us. They were adorable and as many as 2-3 pigs would come up to us and sit on our laps. Some pigs would even get aggressive with other piggies if you gave one too much attention. Some pigs started chewing on my dress so I had to get another blanket to hide my dress from being eaten.
After Mipig, we wanted to get some food. We tried Marian crepes, candied strawberries, and some small cafes. We visited Anakuma cafe and it was definitely an interesting experience. A bear hand would come out of hole in the wall and give us candy and a coin to put in a gacha machine and it would also play rock paper scissor with us.
Next stop was Hedgehog cafe which i wouldnt recommend only because I learned later that hedgehogs are nocturnal and they were sleeping most of the time we were there. We ended up leaving early because there was not much to do as we felt bad disturbing the little guys.
Afterwards we visited the Kiddyland store and I enjoyed the studio ghibli section but they also had kirby, pokemon, and sanrio merchandise.
Teamlabs
Next we took a train to team labs, we got there early but we had to wait until it was closer to our reservation time before we could line up. After getting inside we had to put our shoes and backpacks in lockers so we could go through the water exhibition first. They offer shorts if you are wearing dresses as some of the exhibitions have mirror floors. I wasnt too into the water exhibition but I did like the lights exhibition and flower exhibition the best. Overall it was a cool experience and I got some amazing photos out of it.
Shibuya sky
Lastly we went to shibuya sky. We also couldn't get inside until our reservation time started. The elevator ride up was pretty cool as they played a video on the ceiling. They have some restaurants and cafes near the top, I wish I came earlier to try them but we were so tired I didnt want to stay too long. The top of shibuya sky was outside and it was cold (i wish i brought a sweater) but it was incredibly beautiful, especially at night. It's a nice place to relax and look at views. This was probably my favorite sky building out of the three i went (shibuya sky, umeda sky, and tokyo skytree).
Wednesday May 17: Nagoya-Ghibli Park
Ghibli park
We left early morning to get on the train and avoid morning rush hour. We ended up taking the Nozomi train to Nagoya. We bought our shinkansen tickets at the JR ticket booth. We recommend reserving seats as its only a couple yen more and gives you peace of mind knowing you get to choose your seats. We also grabbed some ekibens which were delicious, my favorite was the blue one with mt. fuji on it. Next we had to take a bus to ghibli park which was actually very hard to find. We had to ask for help to find it. To pay for the bus, you can use a suica card or yen to pay as you board the bus.
We arrived super early, and put some of our bags in the lockers. We went to lawsons nearby and bought a ghibli park book which features the exhibitions inside. We walked around the park a bit before we were allowed to start lining up for our reservation times. There are also no trash cans at ghibli park so make sure you bring a trash bag with you to take all your trash back with you.
Around 12pm we went inside and went straight to the first exhibition (Becoming characters in Memorable Ghibli scenes) and there was already a line to get in. Once we got in we took pictures with Noface from spirited away, ponyo, princess mononoke scene, and many more movie scenes.
The next exhibition we went to was the food exhibition (Delicious! Animating Memorable Meals). You can't take pictures in that area but it was cool to be able to interact in the kitchen spaces from your favorite movie scenes. Also, in the end of this exhibition, you can take pictures with totoro and the cat bus!
We visited the ghibli store next because I heard the lines can get rather long at the end of the day and I bought some merchandise from there.
Afterwards, we took pictures at the central staircase, the castle in the sky scene, and the scene with Yubaba.
Next, we took the elevator down to the bottom floor and took pictures in the arietty scenes, it was cool feeling so tiny while everything was supersized!
Lastly we went to the bakery to get some sandwiches. Unfortunately, the food does sell out and there were not a lot of choices left by the time we got there. The food we got was okay but nothing special.
Osaka: Ichiran ramen
After Ghibli park we took the train to Osaka. In Osaka, we lined up to get into Ichiran ramen. We ordered our ramen through a vending machine and it gave us our ticket to give to our server. We were seated in these small cubicle areas but we were also able to close the partition in between us so my boyfriend and I could share our table space together. I thought it was a unique dining experience; it was cool not having to say a single word to our server, and the food was also delicious too.
Thursday May 18: Osaka-Universal Studios Japan
Got to USJ an hour before it opened and there were still super long lines! As the gates opened up, we ran to nintendoland to make sure we got in. We went to toadstool cafe to get ticket reservations but they didn't open until 9am so we decided to take the single rider line for the mario kart ride, it was a bad idea. For some reason the single rider line still took us 30 minutes to complete and it felt like it was going slower than the regular lines. The mario kart ride was cool, it used like a VR headset and you were able to shoot shells at others but I really didn't understand what was going on.
Toadstool cafe
We went back to toadstool but all the tickets were gone, I tried talking to one of the workers if they would offer tickets later but I don't think he understood what i was saying. He actually just let me in the line after I asked a few times if they had anymore tickets for the afternoon. After waiting in line and ordering, we grabbed our drinks and table number and sat down at our table. The drinks were delicious! Definitely recommend. We also ordered some kind of mushroom pesto soup and it was bomb! We recommend that too since they don't offer it in the California Universal. We also got peaches cake for like $30 which is supposed to be for 4 people but just the 2 of us ate it. It was light and fluffy and we recommend getting it as they also dont offer it in the California Universal. The staff also came by and offered to take pics of us which was so nice.
Next we bought the limited edition wrist bands and started playing some of the mini games. We played about 3 games before we decided to leave nintendo land and check out the other areas because we also bought a reserved time to get back into nintendoland to use our fastpass for the yoshi ride.
We had a fastpass for the Jurassic park ride so we went on that next. Make sure you are prepared to get wet cause you will get soaked at the end. Then we went to Hogwarts and watched some of the shows they offered and grabbed a meatpie. We didn't stay long here as we have already been to Hogwarts in california. Next we got in line for the mario strawberry shortcake pancake and it was delicious light and fluffy! I think we also had a fastpass ride for jaws and that ride was actually really cooler than I expected . The next fastpass ride was for despicable me ride so we did that one too and it was actually better than the california version. And lastly we went back to nintendoland to use our reservation time and our fastpass for the yoshi ride. It was a cute slow ride but it had nice views of the park. I enjoyed it even though it was a kiddy ride. Lastly, we had the yakisoba shells and melon lassi and both were delicious
By this time our feet were so sore from walking for days so we left early to go rest at our hotel. I ended up being so sore and tired I just knocked out early. My boyfriend bought Lions Foot Patches from Lawson and put them on my feet while i slept. They felt so nice and cool on my feet. I recommed getting those foot patches while you're in japan.
We woke up for a late dinner and got some nearby mcdonalds. I'm not a fan of mcdonalds in the US but i wanted to try japan's mcdonalds to see if its better. I honestly didn't like the Japan Mcdonalds either even though it does taste different, I'm not sure what the hype is about with the japanese mcdonalds. I found that japan's convenience store chicken was much juicer and tasted better than the mcdonalds chicken.
Friday May 19: Kyoto-Fushimi Inari Taisha, Nishiki market, Ninenzaka
Fushimi inari taisha shrine
We got to the shrine early, maybe around 7am,and it was not very crowded but there were still people there. It was raining a bit so luckily i brought my umbrella, unfortunately my boyfriend did not, this would haunt him later. We took a picture of a map to see which way to go to reach the top as there are different routes you can take. It was a gradual climb up but my boyfriend really struggled as his feet still hurt from the days before. The gates were beautiful and there were so many areas to look at and explore as we climbed. Unfortunately my boyfriend was tired and we were in a time crunch so we didn't explore every area but I wish I could have because this was the most beautiful place I had visited in Japan. As we neared the top it started to rain more heavily and my boyfriend ended up getting soaked. The top of the shrine was anticlimactic, but we took our picture and headed back down. On our way we stopped by the little stores and bought an umbrella for my boyfriend which we were thankful they had some. As we went down the steps in the rain, my boyfriend accidentally slipped and fell on his back pretty badly. He ended up with a deep gash on his finger as the blood gushed all over the floor. Luckily I had some tissues to wrap up his finger. We headed back down the mountain and bought some bandaids at a conbini store. We also bought some strawberry daifuku at a small little shop and it was the best daifuku I ate in Japan. The mochi was a great consistency and the strawberry was the juiciest strawberry i ever had. I wish i had bought more from there.
Nishiki market
We went to Nishiki market around 11am and it was super crowded while the path was so small and narrow. We literally had to push through the crowds at times because there were so many people, it was not a fun time for me. I also ended up losing my suica card somewhere around there. I'm also not the biggest fan of seafood but my boyfriend is so he ended up eating most of the food. We ended up not staying long for all those reasons and ended up going to a nearby store that sold all kinds of different food which I liked a lot better because there weren't crowds of people there.
Ninenzaka
Next we walked to Ninenzaka which was like a 30 minute walk. It was still raining so we were just looking for a place to stop and eat for a bit. We went to Kudamono cafe and got the cloud dessert. It was pretty good and fluffy and the dessert looked so pretty. Afterwards, we had room for more dessert so we tried Meccha cafe. We ordered the matcha tiramisu and the parfait. The matcha tiramisu was probably the best dessert i had in Japan, I definitely recommend getting it! We also visited Donguri and bought more totoro merchandise. At this point, my boyfriend was so tired and soaked from the rain we decided to go back to the hotel. We took the bus this time and it was packed! We had to push people just to get out.
Saturday May 20: Kyoto, Nara, Osaka
Kyoto:
Arashiyama bamboo forest
We got to the bamboo forest early at 7am, there were a few people there but not too many like later in the day. I recommend going super early to beat the crowds. The bamboo forest was super short but it was still a cool area to check out and plus there are many things to do around the area. We walked to a nearby park next to a big river and the views were absolutely gorgeous! Kyoto is really breathtaking. After walking a while and checking out the scenery we headed back to the bamboo forest to board the Sagano Romantic Train.
Sagano Romantic Train
We had reserved seats for the Sagano Romantic Train and the views from the train were amazing! Get there early because you might have to do some minor paperwork stuff to print out your ticket if you reserved in advance. The reserved seating we had was in a train with no glass windows so you can just feel the air rushing through your hair as the train moves. Truly it was a memorable and fun experience with a lot of breathtaking nature views. After coming back to our initial departure spot on the train, we left for Monkey Park.
Monkey Park
We rushed over to Monkey park and by this time the streets of kyoto became much crowded as we had to dodge pedestrians left and right. We paid a fee to get into the monkey park and hiked our way up to the park, there were a couple benches to take rest if needed. At the top, you can see monkeys running around and playing with one another. We went inside a little building where you can buy food for the monkeys and feed them through windows covered with a mesh net. We didnt stay long as we had a full schedule planned for the day so we left to go catch a train to Nara but we did eat some amazing street food on the way. I don't know why but the street food in Kyoto was so delicious, the best I had in Japan probably.
Nara:
Nakatanidou
We arrived at Nara from the trains and went straight to Nakatanidou for some mochi and it was packed with people! It was even hard trying to get a space to watch them make the mochis. It was cool to experience the mochi making and to taste the mochi but I probably wouldn't go back there again because of the crowds.
Nara Park
After the mochis, we walked to Nara park and it was amazing! There were so many deers and they were so friendly and polite! This was my favorite part of nara for sure. For a few yen, we bought some crackers and found some deers that would bow everytime they wanted a cracker, it was too cute. The deers were literally everywhere, on the streets and even at temples.
Shrines
There were lots of shrines around the area but we came pretty late so most of them were closing up but the ones we did see were pretty neat to look at. We also ate some udon at a little restaurant next to a small lake, the views of the lake were amazing from inside the restaurant.
Osaka:
After Nara, we came back to Osaka and the streets were so crowded at night. I tried shopping at don quixote but there were just to many people to weave through that I just decide to give up and try a 10 yen cheese bread near the store. The line was kind of long but I decided to try it out, it was actually really big, not that good, and made my stomach hurt. I would not be getting that again haha
Matsusakagyu Yakiniku Restaurant
My boyfriend had reserved this place for Thursday but we were so tired that day that we decided to cancel our reservation. We decided to try to go in person on this day to see if we could get in. We were lucky that they had a spot available and we ordered a platter of A5 wagyu beef for more than $100 US dollar. Im not really a meat person but the beef was very tender and delicious and the service was very good. They took pictures of me and my boyfriend and gave me free ice cream for my birthday.
Sunday May 21: Tokyo-Joypolis, Akihabara, skytree
Joypolis
The next morning we took the Nozumi back to Tokyo and headed straight to joypolis. We got tickets that allowed us to go on pretty much any ride there. Joypolis was small but had some interesting and unique rides and attractions. My favorite was the rhythm rollercoaster where you play rhythm games on a small roller coaster. We also played a VR Laser tag which was actually pretty fun even though I dont really play VR. There was an Attack on Titan walkthrough attraction that was completely in Japanese so I didnt understand any of it but it had some very cool props inside. The other interesting attraction was a scary house, where you have to get into these lockers and a girl comes and bangs on them and then the lockers flip you back horizontally. It wasnt that scary but it was pretty unique.
Akihabara
Next we went to Akihabara just to check out but we were actually super tired so we didnt stay long. We went to a couple stores but to be honest it was actually kind of boring as I am no longer as into anime as I was when I was a kid so we ended leaving akihabara fairly quickly.
Tokyo Skytree
Instead of going to akihabara I kind of wish I just went to the tokyo skytree shopping area because there was so much cool things to do there! They have a pokemon center, a kirby cafe, studio ghibli shop, and so many stores to shop or restaurants to eat at! We also went to the top of skytree but it honestly wasnt worth the money as the very top didnt have that much stuff and we just had to wait in these super long lines to get both up and down the skytree. After the skytree, we found a yakitori spot and ate some beef skewers which were delicious. We wished we went restaurant hopping more as there were just so many places to eat in this area.
Monday May 22: Ueno Park and Departure
Ueno park
Before we left to the airport, we visited Ueno park which was only a few blocks away from our hotel. It had a beautiful lake which was covered with some sort of lily pads. The park was pretty big and it was nice just walking around the area.
Life Mart
We decided to stop at Life Mart to get some food before we left to the airport. The Meat was so delicious and was so cheap, and it had different options from conbinis. We took train back to Narita Airport, this train I think you have to reserve in advance.
Narita airport
Going back through immigrations and customs and tsa was super easy and fast. We recommended getting lunch or snack early because there were pretty long lines as our departure time approached.
We also bought Tokyo Banana for souvenir snacks to bring back to our families, its very delicious!
In the end, visiting Japan was better than I could ever imagine and I just cant wait to go back! Please let me know what your favorite parts of Japan are and what other areas in Japan I must check out!

2023.06.01 06:14 CopiumF2Pain 3.7 Abyss is a nightmare

Hello everyone I hope everyone is doing good
Okay rant time, I recently started posting spiral abyss content in YT everything is going well and I'm gaining subs at a steady pace. yes as my username says the channel's name is also copium.
I thought 3.6 12-1 was a nightmare with those consecrated beasts but after fighting them on a daily basis for content i figured out the rng behind the beasts and life was easy.
Usually abyss floors are catered in way that it'll make you wanna pull for the specific patch's limited 5 stars.
But idk what is hoyoverse thinking but the new 12-1 doesn't make sense 😂
You have the annoying whopper flowers in first half which just tp even if you group them hugging the wall and there's 2 waves. You get past them to meet 2 waves of mini doritos which again will disappear if you don't kill them fast enough so having a electro unit is a must.
From f2p perspective without kazuha you'll have less than 1 minute 40 seconds for the second half.
Now for the second half you have a hydro and cryo mage in the first wave which are no big deal if you have Xiangling and Bennet but then the difficulty cranks upto 1000 you get not one but 3 abyss heralds one of them is hydro and the remaining 2 are cryo.
For some odd reason the cryo heralds are in sync like 90% of the time so without a shielder you get one shotted even a 55k hp zhongli shield will only withstand 4 of those attacks and those cryo heralds do a fast 4 hit combo, with 2 of them it's a 8 hit combo while the hydro herald will be spinning like a Beyblade and one hit from him you get frozen because you're already inflicted with cryo from the other heralds.
Now for the fun part when you bring them to 20% hp and they shield up the rng goes wack. They just keep moving away from you wasting so much time it is literally impossible to 3 star without having brain damage.
During this shield phase the chances of getting frozen is very high because the attacks will be infused with their respective elements.
Cryo Herald's shield won't budge THAT THING DOES NOT GO DOWN EVEN IN A TRIPLE PYRO BENNET,KAZUHA, XIANGLING COMBO.
Now we have a look at 12-2 and 12-3 second half we have the thunder bat and the Baptist
You cannot raiden national 12-2 because the bat is immune to electro unless you have a busted Xiangling with 60-150 C6 6-9-9 talents and 250 ER
You can't use a hyperbloom team also since the bat will reverse uno them back to you.
Like what do you want us to do mihoyo for 150 primos it's just too much work 😂
Realistically there's only like maybe 4 team comps that you can use if you want to 9 star this abyss cycle and from both CC and player's perspective it's not good.
Mihoyo I'd like to have my death roll crocodile back in 12-1 thanks
Idk,what do you all think that can be used in floor 12 because the floor gave me a huge migrane first thing in the morning
Anyone who comes across this post I'd appreciate some team suggestions and strats, thanks in advance 😇

2023.06.01 06:06 EzekielWinters Draven, the Liberator of Zion [LitRPG, Cyberpunk, Fantasy] - Ch 1

Draven sliced through the neck of a feral mutant, his sword cleanly splitting throw its thick bone exoskeleton. The creature was a Marrow, a humanoid mutant creature that looked like a cross between a human and a gorilla. Thick white bone exoskeleton covered the Marrow as protective armor. Like all other mutants created through magic, Marrows were Hollows. Human beings that had their humanity hollowed by magic, transforming them into abominations.
The sense of impending death bombarded Draven’s mind, warning him of danger. He leaned to the side, dodging a bone spike launched. His hand shot out, plucking the bone spike from the air.
“Ari, turn the suit up to 100%,” Draven said as he locked on to the mutant who launched the bone spike at him. The creature was a Hollow Spike, longed limbed and thin like a rail. Sharp bone spikes protruded from its skin.
“Will do,” Ari, the AI part of his exosuit, voiced back. Steam drifted out of the air vents of the suit as the power core kicked into overdrive.
Draven launched himself at the Hollow Spike. Dirt exploded with every step he took as he blurred toward his opponent.
He focused his mind and dove into the Weave. Thousands of Sympathetic Threads become visible to his eyes, interconnecting every object around him. Draven focused on the Thread connecting the bone spike in his hand and the mutant Hollow in front of him. Mana essence flowed from his core and solidified the sympathetic connection.
Draven pulled the bone spike towards him, the spike taking on the weight of the Hollow as well now that they were bound together. The Hollow Spike came hurtling towards Draven’s charging form. Draven swung his blade, and flames manifested around it as it sliced through the mutant's midsection. Killing the creature in an instant.
Draven looked around, searching for more Hollow. But the only other person standing nearby was Master Sygvar. The rest of the Hollow had run away, seeking to live another day.
“Ari, disable combat mode.” Draven sheathed his blade as he approached Master Sygvar, “Do we give chase?”
Sygvar turned towards his disciple, “Yes, they might lead us to whoever is behind the attacks on the government.”
Sygvar looked towards the sky and whistled.
A mighty roar answered back, and the clouds parted as a massive object descended toward their position. Draven was in awe as the Fire Dragon Tywen plummeted towards the earth. The land quaked as the massive beast landed on the ground.
“You called,” the voice of Tywen was deep and gravelly. The dragon was massive, at least five to six war horses long. And easily taller than a two-story house. And Tywen was still growing. Black and red scales covered the dragon.
“Yes, we need you to follow the fleeing Hollow,” Sygvar said as he jumped onto Tywen’s back. He used a telekinetic push to give him a boost.
Draven followed after his master, using the same trick with telekineses to enhance his jump. He landed just behind Sygvar on Tywen’s back.

Draven smiled, “Master, my system awakened.” Draven’s eyes roamed across his status sheet. All his attributes were at least two points higher than the standard starting nine points everyone gets on their 18 birthday. His Strength and Fortitude were his highest stats, each ten points higher than average.
Sygvar tapped Tywen on the neck, and the dragon took to the sky, soaring throw the clouds. Down below, Draven could see the Hollow feeling through the fields.
“That’s good. We’ll have a celebration later today. Now tell me the paths you have available,” Sygvar said.
Draven opened his status and selected the Paths tab.
Paths:
The Way of the Al’Manti
Dragonborn of Fire
Mind Supremacy
Body Supremacy
Arcane Weaver
Exosuit Pilot
Al’Manti 5th Blade Kata
Draven read each off to his master.
“Pick the Way of the Al’Manti. That one will give you the Al’Manti Disciple class when you complete it. Now tell me the Talents you have selected.”
Draven selected the Way of the Al’Manti, and the other paths disappeared.
You have selected the Way of the Al’Manti.
The Al’Manti are an Order of Dragon Knights. Sworn to protect the Imperium and its five kingdoms. By selecting this path, you will embark on a long journey that will grant you great power and burden you with great responsibility.
Path Selected: The Way of the Al’Manti 0 / 9
Draven exited the Paths tab and opened the Talents tab.
Talents:
Draconic Pyromancy
Sympathy
Entropy
Apathy
Mind Supremacy
Body Supremacy
Soul Supremacy
Al’Manti 5th Blade Kata
Exosuit Pilot
Arcane Weaving
Telekinesis
Telepathy
Empathy

Enhanced Senses
Synesthesia
“Take Draconic Pyromancy, Mind Supremacy, Body Supremacy, Soul Supremacy, and Al’Manti 5th Blade Kata. You can fill the other four remaining slots with whatever you want.” Sygvar said.
Draven click the five Talents his master suggested.
You select the Draconic Pyromancy Talent!
You are a Dragonborn, born with the power of fire. Creating and controlling fire is as easy as breathing for you. Your draconic flames burn hotter than normal fire. Easily able to melt throw the toughest of metals. Go forth and set the world ablaze young Dragon. - Grants the ability to create and manipulate draconic fire - Grants the ability to create and manipulate fire

You select the Mind Supremacy Talent!
You have mastered your mind, and it bends to your will. - Grants the ability to shape your mind

You select the Soul Supremacy Talent!

You select the Al’Manti 5th Blade Kata Talent!
The 5th Blade Kata of the Al’Manti focuses on the offensive. Dominate your opponent with an unrelenting assault. End them with swift attacks. You are one with the blade. The blade is one with you.
Techniques: None
“Why those?” Draven asked.
“Because you have been training those five skills since you join the Al’Manti. Your skill level is higher than the common level 0 those Talents will start at. This means you will level extremely fast, and you will get Path Points faster for a short time.”
“Do you have any other suggestions?” Draven asked.
“If you want more Path Points, pick Exosuit Pilot, Sympathy, Apathy, and Entropy. If you want a more well-rounded build, go for Arcane Weaver, Synesthesia, Precognition, and Postcognition. Those will enhance your senses, especially when connected to the Weave.”
Draven nodded and closed his status. He was not in a rush to select his Talents. He had all day to think about it.
Tywen banked downwards, the wind blasting against Draven’s exosuit almost making him fall off. Draven leaned down, making his body more aerodynamic. Tywen landed with a thump, shaking the ground as he landed.
“The Hollowed went into that cave,” the Tywen said.
Draven jumped down from Tywen’s back, followed by Master Sygvar. They approached the cave on foot, Draven eager to try out his new Talents and progress his new path.
Draven followed after Sygvar as they entered the cave the Hollows fled into. He conjured a flame above his hand, providing light so that they could see. The cave was cold, and the air was stale from being underground. The floor was smooth, a sign that some type of machinery was used to smooth over the surface.
Then after a few paces, the cave opened up, and the walls transformed from their rocky texture to a smooth metallic surface of interlaying metal sheets.
“What is this place,” Draven asked as he took in the full view of the room they found themselves in. The room was three stories tall, with walkways leading into various rooms along the walls. Lights fixtures provided light, painting the room in a yellowish tint. Draven put out the flame above his palm, wanting to conserve energy.
“I hope it’s not what I think it is,” Sygvar said as he continued towards a computer console sitting in the middle of the room.
Suddenly, Draven heard roars, screams, and feet hitting the metal flooring. Sygvar drew his blade, and instantly a layer of flames began to coat the sword. Draven followed Sygvar’s example and returned his suit to combat mode.
Marrow and Spike Hollows flooded the room, screaming and pounding against the metal floor.
Draven threw himself forward, propelling himself with jets of fire from his feet. He flew towards a Marrow. Draven twirled, his blade leaving behind a fire trail as he cut through the Marrow like a tornado.

A bone spike sailed toward Draven’s head. He deflected it with the armor on his arm. Conjuring a fire blast, he sent it towards the Spike that attacked him.
New Draconic Pyromancy Technique! Fireball
The Spike fled as soon as the fireball came close to it. Draven used Sympathy and [Draconic Pyromancy] to steer the fireball toward the Spike. Upon contact with the Spike, Draven detonated the fireball, blowing the Spike to bits.

Draven took a punch to the gut, the armor around his exosuit taking the brunt of the damage. A Marrow had snuck up on him, roaring as it aimed to slam him into the ground with its fist.
Draven rolled out of the way, sending a fire current into the Marrow's face.
New Draconic Pyromancy Technique! Fire stream
The creature screamed as it pulled away. Hands covering its flaming face.
Draven sent out a telekinetic blast, knocking the Marrow off its feet onto the ground. Then he charged, denting the ground under him as he sliced through the Marrow's neck.
Two more Marrows came charging out of a tunnel, and a Spike followed behind them.
Al’Manti 5th Blade Kata Level 2!
Draconic Pryomacy Level 3!
Soul Supremacy Level 2!
Mind Supremacy Level 2!
Body Supremacy Level 2!

Draven connected his senses to the Weave. He dodged the bone projectiles the Spike sent flying toward him. He conjured flames around his blade and slashed toward the charging Marrows. An arc of superheated fire cut straight throw the charging Marrows, cauterizing the wounds made by the attack. The two Marrows fell into pieces before Draven.
New Draconic Pyromancy Technique! Flaming Slash
Centering his mind, Draven telekinetically pulled the Spike hollowed towards him. The creature sailed throw the air, impaling itself onto his blade.

Clapping echoed off the walls of the base. Draven turned his head searching for the source of the noise. Spotting a man in an exosuit guarded by two Bone Devils standing three stories up on a walkway.
“What do we have here?” The man said as he jumped down and landed on a cushion of air. The air manipulation was a sign of an Air Dragonborn. The two Bone Devils followed him, thudding against the ground as they landed.
“An Al’Manti and his little disciple? This should be fun.” A smile bled through the man’s voice as he drew a blade from his waist. He whistled, and the Bone Devils screamed, charging Draven and Sygvar.

Respect Juggernaut

This won’t hurt me! Nothing can!
♫Theme
Cain Marko was the son of nuclear scientist Kurt Marko, who worked in Alamogordo, New Mexico with Brian Xavier. After Brian died in a lab accident, Kurt married Brian’s widow Sharon for her family’s money, resulting in Cain becoming the stepbrother of the Xavier’s son Charles, the eventual founder of the X-Men. Kurt proved to be an abusive father to both Cain and Charles, which combined with Cain’s jealousy over his brother’s telepathy, fostered a lasting resentment between the two of them. After Kurt died saving them from another lab accident, Charles and Cain would end up serving with the army together in Korea. During their service, Cain would stumble across a cave that had a temple dedicated to the powerful mystic being known as Cyttorak. Touching a crimson gem at the heart of the temple, Cain was transformed into Cyttorak’s avatar on Earth, an unstoppable human Juggernaut. Shortly after, the cave collapsed, with Xavier barely managing to escape. Years later Cain would dig his way out and seek revenge on Charles for the perceived slights he had inflicted upon him. In doing so, Cain would come into conflict with the X-Men, Hulk, Spider-Man, Thor, Doctor Strange, and many other superheroes before eventually burying the hatchet with his brother. However, despite joining the X-Men and later Thunderbolts, Cain would return to being a villain each time. Throughout his life and various goals and motivations, only one constant has remained for Cain Marko. No matter the obstacle, he will never stop.

2023.06.01 03:49 TheoRyswell Orc Harem - 8

It was late in the morning when Adam woke from his dreamless sleep. Warm sunlight poured through the cracks between the window blinds, casting bars of shadow along his naked body.
Sleeping naked was a habit he had picked up from Jen. She had insisted upon it, to his great bemusement. Because why would a man wear clothes to keep warm in bed when a woman could do the job much better? Being a young man, Adam couldn’t find fault in that particular orcish custom.
But some orcish customs… Adam had learned how disruptive they could be.
Adam threw his legs over the side of the bed so that he sat upright. He stared off into space, frowning.
Disqualified.
Somewhere in his mind, in a hazy construct of the great hall back home, that word hung over his portrait on a gilded plaque. Right next to the words Disappointment and Failure.
Adam shook his head, groaning. Was it frustration? Disgust? Adam couldn’t tell. He knew the thought was absurd. His family wouldn’t disown him for losing a tourney much less getting disqualified from one - especially since getting kicked out wasn’t even his fault.
The Castermans were a proud, ancient house, this was true. But they didn’t put so much value on trophies and medals and honors the way other Stakari houses did. They would never consider tossing their youngest aside… But that didn’t stop Adam from feeling fear and doubt.
Every young man who ever lived feared being a disappointment to his family. And as the fourth son of his father’s line, Adam had the unenviable position of being measured against his older brothers. Royce, Dane, and Garen, loving and supportive as they were, weren’t simply his older brothers. They were titans, looming tall and casting their shadows over their baby brother.
His brothers had all been exceptional at the paths they chose. Military man, beast wrangler, and a bonafide wizard. All impressive and noble occupations. Of course Adam was happy for them. But his brothers had set some incredibly high standards. All through his youth, the youngest Casterman feared he would never measure up.
But then, in his teens, Adam discovered his passion for history. Stories of kings, warriors, tyrants, and heroes. Of great bloody battles and fallen cities. Of ferocious beasts and mighty slayers. Adam drank it all in like a man finding an oasis after wandering lost through the desert sands. Especially so for the history of his home, the Kingdom of Stakaria, as well as his family and his own noble blood.
The Castermans had earned their greatness, Adam proudly reminded himself. Jorr Casterman won his knighthood defending the Lord of the Bluewater several centuries back. During a skirmish against a wild raiding party, the lord had been unhorsed and at the mercy of a monstrous ogre. He would have died on that battlefield had Jorr not slain the towering beast.
Adam had no towering beast to slay. The days where men could make their names with sword and shield were long past. So the youngest Casterman chose to sharpen his mind. His battles would be fought and won with pen and ink. Not at all the kind of man a she-orc would fall for, one might have thought.
The young noble pondered on that for a moment as he stood up and stretched. He groaned, his body still quite sore from the tourney matches he had managed to win. Then he went to the dresser at the foot of his bed and dug out a pair of boxers.
As he tugged them on, his mind drifted to Jen… and her sister, Sayla.
His girlfriend’s sister had interfered during one of his matches and got him disqualified from the tourney. Attacked him with real daggers, too. It was a wonder she hadn’t been arrested - though the security staff might have simply thought she was part of some viral stunt.
The whole situation was absurd. So absurd that Adam was more bewildered than upset - though he wasn’t without anger. He had worked hard to get into the lists. And to have it all taken away because of his girlfriend’s secret plan…
Adam tightened his jaw as Jen and Sayla’s “clan chief” business came to the forefront of his mind. He still needed to talk to them about that. He might as well, right? There was nothing that was going to un-disqualify him as far as he could tell. So why not learn more about the absurdity that screwed with his life?
He inhaled deeply through his nose, then frowned. The scent of sweat stung his nostrils. He would need to shower soon. But first, he would check his phone. He hadn’t answered anything from anybody after he left Jen and Sayla at the diner last night. No doubt his voicemail and email had some build up that needed some looking over.
Adam found his cellphone right where he left it, sitting on his desk. Sure enough, he found a long list of missed calls and unread messages. All of them from Jen.
The corner of his mouth twitched some at the sight. It wasn’t quite a smile, but there was a wryness about it.
In a way, the attention felt nice. It showed that Jen cared. Adam already knew that, of course. Jen was the kind of girl who was very open - and physical - with her affections. But the dozens of messages of apology proved that Jen at least felt appropriately guilty over the whole mess. The disqualification and the secret plan to make him her clan’s chieftain.
Chieftain Adam Casterman, leader of the G’Kalis Clan. Reader of books, slayer of essays, husband to she-orcs. Adam grinned at the sheer absurdity of it.
On the one hand, becoming a clan chief would have been a rather unique way of making a name for himself. And Adam had read up on orcish clan customs. He couldn’t deny that taking multiple wives had a certain appeal.
But Adam was nothing if not a realist.
Surely being a chieftain came with a whole mountain of responsibility. Even if Adam agreed to Jen’s proposition, where would he find the time to fulfill all of the duties that came with his new role? By the Allfather, he was a college student barely out of his teen years. He already had responsibilities here on campus. And what would he even tell his parents? That his girlfriend asked him to essentially marry her and her sisters and he said yes on a whim?
Adam rubbed his temple. It was way too early for such heavy thoughts. He put down his phone and switched over to his laptop to check his email.
His inbox was mostly as expected. Some newsletter stuff, spam that hadn’t been filtered out… And one message from Trevelyan Institute Administration.
That last one gave Adam a moment of pause. He stared at it, the email sitting unread on his computer screen. Dread slowly crept into him, slithering up his back, under his skin, making his hair stand on end.
It was a disciplinary response to the nonsense at the tourney. Adam knew it. Was he being put on probation? Was he expelled?
His mouth had gone dry. Surely, his face had gone ghostly white as well.
Adam collected himself, gathering his wits and nerves.
He ran the cursor over the email and clicked on it.

“Stop calling him.”
Quiet.” Jenakka snapped, glaring at her clan-sister. The green she-orc turned her eyes back to her phone, staring at the message of apology she had just finished writing. She’d already written several others, but there was always something that Jenakka felt like she forgot to say. So she ended up writing another.
The G’Kalis clan scholar had been pacing around her dorm room ever since she woke up. She’d hardly gotten any sleep last night. Sayla, of course, had slept like a rock.
She’s as thick as one too…
The gray-skinned champion sat on Jenakka’s bed, her back pressed against the wall with her long legs stretched out. Sayla watched her sister walk back and forth across her dorm room, boredom clear in her red eyes.
Boredom and not an ounce of guilt. Typical.
Jenakka huffed through her nose and hit send.
“You’ve already left several messages. You’re making yourself look desperate.” Sayla droned in a flat voice. There was another look about her now, Jenakka noted. Distaste. The clan champion continued, muttering. “More than you already have…
Jenakka whirled around on her heels, fuming. She pointed accusingly at her clan-sister, a scowl twisting across her face.
“You’re the last person who should be giving advice!” Jenakka was near-shrieking. The other students who lived on her floor might have heard her, but Jenakka did not care. Her relationship with Adam might have been irreparably damaged because of the brainless fool sitting on her bed. The clan scholar collected herself just a bit, breathing in. “After that debacle at the arena it was a miracle you weren’t detained. The clan can’t afford to have its champion behind bars, as you well know.
Sayla was on her feet then, but Jenakka feared her little. Tall and strong her older clan-sister was, but Jenakka knew Sayla took her clan oaths as seriously as Mystic Akari. She would never hurt anyone of the clan. Still, Jenakka glared as the taller she-orc stepped up to her.
“Don’t lecture me, sister. Don’t you dare.” Sayla growled, her red eyes hard and cold. “I took action. You’re the one who spent a year playing Lord and Lady with her darling human. And such a wonderful choice, too.”
Jenakka’s anger flared hotter, now blazing in her heart.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“You promised the clan you’d find us a chieftain.” Sayla raised her voice, her words hard with anger. “Instead, you spent all this time on some pretty boy lordling. Beyond ideal? Don’t make me laugh!”
Sayla turned away then, scoffing. Jenakka glowered, her hands tightening into fists.
“He beat you didn’t he?”
“He did not beat me.” Sayla snarled as she whirled back around. Her red eyes were now sharp like her daggers. Her lips tightened into what was almost a pout. “Our fight was interrupted.
There was a knock at the door then. Both orc women turned their eyes towards it. Sayla merely looked annoyed at the disturbance, but Jenakka deflated some, her shoulders falling slack. It was probably one of the other dorm residents coming to check because of the shouting.
The knocking came again. Jenakka sighed and went to answer it, collecting herself just enough to put on a fake smile.
No problem here, ma’am. Just two orc sisters having a shouting match over the future of their clan!
She opened the door… and found her dear Adam standing in the hall!
“Hi.” He said, wearing a small smile.
Jenakka felt a rush of emotions then. Relief that Adam bothered to come see her. Happiness at seeing her love in the flesh. Embarrassment because she didn’t know what to say. All those text messages were nothing compared to seeing him again face-to-face.
Leaping forward, she wrapped her arms around him in perhaps the tightest hug she had ever given. With her face buried into his neck, she took in his scent. He smelled of paper and wood and steel. And a hint of soap as well. He showered recently, she noted. As she pulled back, she also noticed his clothing. He had dressed nicely. A brown coat over a white shirt and fitted jeans. Adam always made some effort to look presentable. But the fact that he bothered at all today was a good sign. Jenakka’s heart fluttered.
“I’m glad you came.” She said warmly, pulling the fresh-faced human into her dorm room. She closed the door shut behind them. Then she reached out and took Adam’s hands with hers. She stared into his eyes, hoping he would see the sincerity of her words. “And again, I’m so, so sorry about the tourney.”
Jenakka then shot an expecting look towards Sayla, who was standing by her desk with her arms crossed.
The clan champion gave Jenakka’s boyfriend a once-over. Then she wrinkled her nose.
“I’m not.” Sayla answered bluntly. She gave Adam a curt nod. “You still need to prove your worth as a fighter, pup.”
“He’s only two years younger than you.” Jenakka simmered. To her irritation, her clan-sister merely shrugged.
“Still younger than me. Still a pup.”
Jenakka frowned, fighting the fire inside her that Sayla was unapologetically stoking. She wasn’t going to break into another argument in front of Adam. He had dealt with enough problems because of her.
She turned her eyes back onto her boyfriend, giving him a regretful look.
“Sorry about her, too.” She told him.
“It’s no problem.” Adam said. A moment of silence passed, with Adam’s eyes roaming around Jenakka’s dorm room. Jenakka wanted to try and imagine what he was thinking, but the prospect made her anxious. So she simply waited. Finally, he spoke again. “So… I’m here.”
Jenakka stepped closer, hesitant but hopeful. She allowed herself a tiny smile.
“Does… does that mean you have an answer for us?”
Adam nodded.
“I spent a long time thinking last night.” Her boyfriend started. Jenakka tried to parse the tone of his voice, but the words came from his lips level and even. “Thinking about you. About us. I’d be lying if I said these last few months weren’t some of the best of my life.”
Another moment of silence. Jenakka drank in the lines of Adam’s face, watching him clench and unclench his jaw. She bit her lip, waiting.
“Growing up, I was always afraid that I’d never be as strong or as handsome or as skilled as my older brothers.” Adam spoke again, his brow furrowing as a sliver of discomfort weaved into his words. “I always questioned my worth as a man. Until I met you.”
Jenakka’s heart ached for him. She moved even closer, close enough that she could enjoy his scent again. On instinct, she darted forward and kissed him softly. The taste of his lips was quite welcome after the doubt and worry that plagued her last night. And surely Adam found the affection pleasing. He did not push her away.
The clan scholar pulled back after a time, sighing.
“I never cared if you were a fourth son. I wouldn’t have cared if you were the fortieth. I love you, Adam.” Jenakka spoke those words with her entire heart and spirit. She could only pray that her human would truly listen.
“But you still kept the truth from me.” He answered in a cool tone.
Jenakka winced. She averted her eyes from his for a moment. Was it shame? Regret? Embarrassment? Or all of them at once?
“I was waiting for the right time to tell you. But no moment ever felt right.” It was the truth. But Jenakka feared - no, she knew it wasn’t enough. She hadn’t told Adam about her intentions for him. For her clan. The fault for the resulting mess belonged to her and her alone.
Jenakka knew Adam was the understanding type. But was he the forgiving type? She could only hope.
“Do you have an answer or did you come here to waste more of our time?” Sayla’s sharp voice cleaved through their intimate moment.
Jenakka whipped her head around to shoot her sister a withering glare. A venomous retort bubbled up in her throat, ready to spew. But then Adam broke into a flat chuckle.
"Wow.” He said to Sayla, deep laughs rumbling in his chest. “You are a real piece of work.”
Sayla only gave a rude gesture in response. Jenakka felt a flash of anger, but it was tempered by the fact that Adam almost certainly had no idea what it meant.
“She’s always been like that.” Jenakka murmured into her boyfriend’s neck.
Adam chuckled again. Jenakka took it as a good sign. Next, he pulled away some so that he could look her in the eyes.
“I can… understand how your situation might have been awkward. I don’t like it, but I get it. If you told me about the clan stuff from the start, I might have just blown you off as a loony.” Adam pressed his lips into a line, appearing to consider his next words. “Being your clan’s chieftain… I take it that this is a big responsibility…”
Jenakka’s heart soared. He wasn’t refusing her outright. And that was enough for her. She jumped on the opening, seizing the opportunity as her clan-mother taught her.
“You wouldn’t need to carry that whole weight by yourself.” She insisted, clutching his hands tightly in hers. Her thumbs brushed over his knuckles, gentle and loving. “G’Kalis is a small clan, but you’d still have five of us to help you understand and perform your duties.”
Adam quirked his lips, weighing her answer in his head. He gave a short nod.
“That’s… good to hear, I suppose. And the extra free time will probably help, too.”
Jenakka blinked. She held her breath.
“What do you mean?” She asked cautiously. She needed to hear him say it.
Adam gave her a faint grin. He breathed in deeply through his nose.
“I got an email this morning.” Her tall, strapping human started, his grin widening some. “From the university administration. After that whole deal with Miss Daggers last night, I was afraid I was going to face some disciplinary action.”
“They didn’t blame you for that, did they?” Jenakka winced as the chaos from the arena flashed in her head.
“No. Turns out the email wasn’t about that tourney stuff at all. I’ve been exempt.” Adam gave her an incredulous look. “From all of my classes until spring. Special clan privileges, apparently. Clan members get excused from course work if they have spiritual rites that require their attention.”
Jenakka reeled back, bewildered. Why would Adam have special clan privileges…
Oh.
Realization struck her like a mace to the back of her head. The clan scholar turned and gave Sayla an accusing look. But the eldest daughter of G’Kalis appeared as baffled as any of them.
“Don’t look at me.” Sayla said, shrugging. “I only came here to initiate my chieftain trial.”
Jenakka narrowed her eyes, looking from Sayla to Adam. She only had to think for a moment before an answer presented itself to her. The only answer that made any sense, at least.
“Matriarch Hera.” Jenakka whispered. She looked into Adam’s eyes, hoping he was following along. He nodded back to her and she took it as a good sign. “Our clan-mother. She must have registered you as our chieftain already. Either her or Akari.”
“How?” Adam didn’t seem shocked or offended, only confused. Jenakka couldn’t blame him. These last several hours or so had completely turned his life into some absurdist comedy.
“I might have sent my clan your personal information.” Jenakka winced as she said it. A sour look crossed Adam’s face. She gave her boyfriend an apologetic look. “I just thought they wanted to know more about you! I’ll fix it. We’ll fix it! Sayla and I, we’ll head back to our clan and we’ll clear all this up! I promise!”
“We’re all going.” Adam told her. Jenakka was taken aback for a moment. She felt the urge to ask him to elaborate on what that meant. But the look in his blue eyes told her everything. And deep in her heart, Jenakka G’Kalis felt jubilation. Her boyfriend… her chieftain turned his eyes to Sayla, his words hammering out like black iron.
“If I’m going to be your clan’s chieftain, then it’s time I met the rest of you.”

2023.06.01 03:29 rodog22 Requesting feedback on first chapter

Is anyone interested in critiquing the first chapter of my planned cultivation fantasy series. Sort of an alpha reader? it's less than 1800 words. I want to get several people's opinions of my prose before I write more chapters.
“I can’t wait to eat it.” Gong Li salivated over his next meal. Which was unfortunate, on account of the fact that it wasn’t dead yet.
Over 30 paces away from where he hid was a gnarlwood elk, its hind quarters marked by significant scarring that almost resembled burn marks. Presumably from a recent run in with a predator.
The gnarlwood elk was a truly majestic spirit beast that naturally cultivated the aspect of wood. And as was typically the case for spirit beasts, the path of its cultivation expressed itself in its unique physiology. The creature’s skin was the color of smooth, deep brown bark. It had fur like a normal elk, but it was green and looked more like moss that covered little of the lower half of the beast’s body. The elk sported massive antlers that more closely resembled gnarled tree branches, hence its namesake, with large flower buds growing out from it. Those flower buds were more than mere decoration, however. When opened, they would produce a pollen like substance. When exposed to it, a potential predator would experience severe irritation in its eyes and respiratory system. Also, the beast was about the size of a draft horse.
Li licked his lips in anticipation. “Mhm wood chi infused venison. My meat and veggies all in one bite.”
The Gnarlwood Elk stood cautiously in a clearing in the forest. It drank from a nearby brook, occasionally scanning the area for any signs of predators.
But Gong Li’s next meal wouldn’t find him. He had been on hunts before, but this was the first time he was permitted to join in on the hunt of a spirit beast. Such a thing would normally be too dangerous for someone of his cultivation and he was not expected to take part in the hunt itself. But the important thing was that the spirit beast didn’t notice him. This was an opportunity for Li to demonstrate his ability to suppress his spiritual power. What little he had as a mortal realm cultivator, anyway. Failing to do so might cost him and others their lives the elders of his clan told him. So he was sent on this hunt alongside his cousin Gong Fang and his team of beast hunters to prove his worth.
“Ready”, whispered the man himself in the bushes on Gong Li’s left. Gong Fang sported wild, spiky black hair that shimmered in the noonday sun with oil. His lean corded muscles clearly visible, as he wasn’t wearing a shirt. They bulged as if ready to rip out of his skin as he prepared himself for the hunt.
“Ready,” To Gong Fang’s own left was a woman. Gong Yue was built tall but slender. She shared the tanned complexion that most of the Gong Clan sported, which contrasted nicely with her short, silver hair. After a brief flash of light surrounded her uplifted hands, a wooden bow with a dark blue stone above the grip appeared in her grasp.
“Fire,” Gong Fang catapulted himself out of his hiding spot and into the clearing keeping up a storm of dirt and grass as he went. Gong Yue summoned an updraft, allowing her to take flight and break off small tree branches. As she knocked her arrow, the dark blue stone socketed into her bow’s limbs glowed with sparks of lightning inside. The sparks made their way to the bow proper, and Gong Li could smell the faint hint of ozone in the air.
The beast immediately knew something was wrong, but it was too late. Just as the gnarlwood elk popped its head back up, the arrow struck its neck. The beast reeled.
Gong Fang continued his charge, summoning a massive curved cleaver from his storage ring.
Gong Li watched as the beast struggled to get back on its feet, but the electrical current from the arrow had overloaded its nervous system. It violently flung mud into the air as Gong Yue fired another arrow into its flank.
As he closed in Gong Fang launched himself over ten paces into the air. He came down on the creature’s neck hard; The weight of the sword, his body and his technique. Together they easily cleaved through the base of the creature's neck. Gore sputtered out from the elk’s body and onto Fang but he jumped away from his fallen prey before the flower buds on the antlers blossomed. The beauty of the vibrant yellow petals were marred by the red gore that now covered them.
Fang was grinning. Grinning with the mischievous glee like a kid in an abandoned candy shop.
“Yeah! That’s what I’m talking about.” Fang triumphed over his kill. His enthusiasm was contagious. Li couldn’t help but cheer as well, despite the gory scene.
As Li and Yue caught up to Fang, Yue generated a current of air around them. The current, shaped like a dome, would keep the pollen from the flowers from getting to them.
Fang looked down at Li was a few finger widths shorter. “so little cousin tell me what you think of our technique?”
“Your methods are solid. Yue using lightning to paralyze the target, which gives you time to close the distance and quickly deliver a killing blow. I initially wondered why you use a cleaver instead of a spear as a melee hunting weapon, but now I see the logic of it. Cooks typically use cleavers to cut through bone and thick meat. However, a cleaver style sword can also be an effective way of killing an enemy quickly if you have the strength and precision to wield it. If you attempted to pierce the large Grade 2 beast’s neck with a spear and raw strength alone, it wouldn’t have guaranteed a kill. Given the strong hide and healing factor of the target. But by using force chi, you can apply greater kinetic energy and wield a heavier weapon.”
Fang grinned and looked towards Yue. “Told you he was a smart one.”
“Do you use this strategy against all your targets?” Li asked.
“No. Different prey calls for different methods. Although this is the strategy we use most often. We specialize in hunting large herbivores. That’s what sells the best prices on the market, anyway. They’re also the main course for the most profitable dishes of the clan owned restaurant. Also you’d be amazed what a pair of testicles from just about any large spirit beast would go for.
Li raised a skeptical eyebrow. “Spirit beast testicles?”
Yue interjected. “Many people think the testicles of large spirit beasts make for a potent aphrodisiac and may even increase fertility. There’s not much evidence to support the claim, but who am I to deny a fool so eager to part with his money?”
Fang barked a laugh. “Especially if it’s lining my pockets, eh.”
“We should get moving now,” Yue started scanning the area. “The scars on the elk may look old, but wood aspected beasts have an especially efficient healing factor. The creature that gave it those wounds could be nearby.
“Alright then, just give me five minutes to clean my sword and wash the blood off in the brook.
As Fang made his way to the brook Li turned towards Yue. “I was wondering, cousin Yue. Why use a bow with a lightning aspected beast core instead of cultivating it yourself? It would seem like the perfect fit to supplement your wind path.”
Yue shook her head, “Well, for one, the lightning aspect is hard on the body. It’s one of the most difficult aspects to cultivate.”
“No offense, but you don’t cross me as the type who would fear a little hard work.”
“No I’m not. But…” Yue trailed off.
“Funds. Right?
Yue gave Fang a regrettable expression. “Lightning is also one of the rarer aspects out there. To learn to adapt to cycling it through my meridians, any large quantity would require me to go through several Grade 2 beast cores. The clan simply doesn’t have those kinds of resources anymore. Our current situation is the reason why the elders requested we take you on this hunt with us. While your own path was designed for smithing the metal and fire aspect have obvious combat applications. They want as many of us prepared to defend the clan as possible. Should our enemies decide to take advantage of our weakness and hasten the clan’s fall.
As Li contemplated the clan’s current predicament, he found himself suddenly slapped with a torrent of water. After recovering from the initial shock, Li looked in Fang’s general direction. And there he was beaming with satisfaction in the brook over 10 paces away, sword in hand.
“You bastard.” Yue screamed.
Fang simply laughed and pulled back his weapon. He dipped the bulk of the cleaver in the water and made a sweeping motion back towards Li and Yue creating another wave of water. The water was accelerated to deceptively high velocities due to his application of force chi to enhance the swing. Yue was ready for him this time however. She generated a wall of wind chi that redirected the wave of water back at Fang. The combined force of the water and Yue’s wind technique knocked Fang off his feet submerging him in the brook’s shallow waters.
Yue laughed.
Li flicked off a piece of the gnarlwood elk’s bark-like carapace off his shoulder with a sigh of irration. “You’re a child cousin Fa-.”
Li found himself smacked hard by a current of air. He went spinning and before he knew his face smacked hard into the dirt, dazed. It took a moment to realize what had happened. Yue had struck him with her own technique. But why? He was only a mortal realm cultivator. She wouldn’t have hit him with an attack that hard, only for her own amusement.
His head was spinning, but Li did his best to lift it up and look around. It was then that he came to realize what had happened.
The impact knocked him a clean fifteen paces away, on the other side of the stream for his own safety. For the predator had arrived to claim its wounded prey.

2023.06.01 03:11 British_Tea_Company Respect: Marneus Calgar (Warhammer 40k)

Chapter Master Marneus Augustus Calgar

Chapter Master Calgar is the Current chapter Master of the Ultramarines. Considered to be the most successful Ultramarine period short of Guilliman himself, Calgar had relatively humble origins as a servant-boy named "Tacitan". Tacitan's best friend was the noble scion of House Calgar, the original Marneus Calgar whom he idolized. When the original Calgar was killed by a chaos corrupted trainer, Tacitan took the name of "Marneus Calgar" in his honor and eventually went to become a full fledged Space Marine.
Calgar has a long and storied history as the Ultramarine Chapter Master with notable deeds of marshalling the defense of Ultramar against Hive Fleet Behemoth, being the last man standing defying the Ork Hordes of Zalathras and facing down Abaddon the Despoiler upon Vigilus. Calgar's career and repitoire continues to grow, especially after crossing the Rubicon Primaris now nicknamed the "Calgar Procedure" due to him being the first volunteer to become Primaris as a firstborn Space Marine.
Feats are labelled "Primaris" are done post Rubicon Primaris. Any feat not labeled as such is prior.

2023.06.01 02:33 Elthaco Did your players fight Fangafa?

Despite all the warnings from Xanathâ my players decided to take the underworld path to the tomb.
Any suggestions on how should I handle Fangafa? I think combat is inevitable. But from the lore she seems to be a pretty old and powerful enemy. I don't want them to just beat her, or get killed.

My ideas: Fangafa has been madly clawing the stone to get into the Tomb. Her blood has spread corruption in the area, so there will be some effect on the players. R1 - Summons thorn beasts to aid. R2 - probably knocks a player with full tentacle attacks.
R3 - Xanathâ shows up and engage. Both fight tearing walls apart, and falling into a whole in the ground, letting the players to fight off the thorn beasts before climbing up to the tomb.

2023.06.01 02:29 StrikingResolution My experience on CARS test day

Not really a vent but it’s the best fit. So I took the MCAT 4/28 and got a 129 on CARS. Weird since my first FL was a 130. However, I studied for this section the most and learned more from it than almost any other course I’ve ever taken. Particularly in the way of self-study. I studied this section full time for a week before my exam, I was feeling like a beast after correcting my mistakes and logically connecting EVERYTHING, yet I still didn’t get it. After the CARS diagnostic I got obliterated by CARS pack 1. My percentage was still not good enough and I was getting questions wrong. My approach was this: read the passage trying to understand standout ideas and elements, answer questions, mark all questions I’m not sure on or get wrong and write them into a word doc.
Perhaps I didn’t adapt the correct new behaviors based on this feedback. Almost none of my practice was timed. Maybe I needed more practice, but I should have improved with the time I spent. Honestly, I’m going to go back finish all the AAMC CARS material this summer when I have time. They’re a lot like the puzzles I do in my free time. Plus they’re a great source of books.
A hint might lie in my math. It’s my strongest subject but I still copy the textbook. It’s so lazy. Maybe I should be putting in more effort.
As for the other passages, man I got lucky. Jack Westin saved my life on PS. BB was pretty hard. CP was simple.
I’m interested to hear from people who’ve broken a wall on tests. What’s it like?

2023.06.01 02:27 EzekielWinters Draven, the Liberator of Zion [LitRPG, Cyberpunk, Fantasy] - Ch 1

Draven exited the Paths tab and opened the Talents tab.

Draconic Pryomacy Level 3!
Soul Supremacy Level 2!
Mind Supremacy Level 2!

2023.06.01 02:17 Nexrender Awesome survey up right now!

The quest survey please do it everyone, great questions on there.
Thanks for giving us the option to strongly disagree to the "chosen one" bs and the "gods visit runescape" plotlines.
The story is so much more compelling as an observer (A powerful one, but still just some guy who's done some neat stuff) and the gods not being directly involved. Killing off multiple gods literally just ripped off the "call in to kill robin" trope and left some major continuity errors in the world that are still lingering in rs3.
That said, I wish there was a comment space for some of the questions. I feel like the Troll questline is kindof in a good space and we really need some of these older quest lines wrapped up so we can explore some new things. we're sitting on like 6 cliffhangers and the potential for some new bosses or content from those is amazing. I also saw at one point I think (Mod Ash?) talking about bringing back Nomad and that's a HARD no for me. The two events I remember souring the game for me at least was EoC and the "Nomad wall." Some people got really good RNG or had amazing gear, but for the majority of my friends and I, bleeding millions of gold in potions and yak tabs was not fun content. It seemed almost designed just to be a brick wall for anyone with a quest cape and relied HEAVILY on RNG. Fuck Nomad. Let his bald ass sit in a dead minigame where he belongs.
I feel like the white knight's storyline could button up into some sort of repeatable content (A quest based slayer type activity from Sir Tiffy Cashien? Missions of some sort feels like a great conclusion.)
DS2 was actually pretty great and so was Secrets of the North. We're kindof in a Majharrat year but i'd love to see maybe Dwarf or Fairytale finish out in the next year.
Penguin questline seems almost too goofy for osrs. It's a good fit for RS3 because of how weird that game is now, but i'd love it if that's one of the questlines they take in a totally different direction. IDK I feel like OSRS has a more adult tone compared to RS3.
Rocking Out was a solid quest and it was one of the last quests I remember fondly before quitting RS2.
Quest I would love to see come to OSRS or ones that weren't mentioned: Buyers and Cellars, an expansion of the demon slayer questline, first resort (who else remembers bandos pool before gwd runs?!), love story, void knight.
I'd also love to fight Jormungand again for some cosmetics. Maybe some fresh new fremmenik armor looks? Small boost to those sets would be interesting!
I'm always excited about new quests it's my favorite part of the game.

2023.06.01 02:11 Marco_Livelli A large, useless list of characters for whoever might want it

Hello, so for years, basically since 2016 when I started reading with Rebirth, I have had this note that I updated periodically with DC characters, some alone, some grouped by family, so by team, overall by really confusing personnal criteria that only makes sense to my neuro divergent brian and that it tires me to explain. Lately I am making some changes to my life for the well being of my mental health and that includes getting rides of the many notes I have like this one to appease my OCD. Many I will delete and others like this one I will archive in a folder in the bottom of my drive to be forgotten about. But before that I wanted to share it one last time. Back in the day I would hang a lot on the discussion forum of the DC Wikia and sometime share this notes, so I want to do it one last time. But idk if the Wikia forum exist anymore, I will check it out later, so meanwhile I will just share it here on Reddit, where I hang out more often now on day, for if someone want to put it to some kind of use. Good luck figuring out how it's sorted out.

2023.06.01 01:56 RoiVampire I’m trying to find the name of this western but all I know is the tagline.

This burger joint in my hometown had all these old western posters on the walls and one of them had a tagline that always stuck with me.
“They fought like beasts, for wealth and women.”
The poster had a painting of two gunslingers dueling. I’ve tried google a few times over the years to no avail. Does it ring a bell for anyone?
