2023.06.01 18:39 MethadoneMarvin How long was it before you started using minoxidil&dying your hair after your hair transplant?

I've heard different answers. I'm post 6 weeks transplant in the ugly duckling stage. I started using Rogaine foam again on my crown as it was only my hairline/temple area that received the transplant. I'd love to start using it on my hairline again but I'm fair-skinned and the area is still a bit red
Also before I got my transplant I would dye my hair pretty regularly as the back and sides were grey. I'd love to start dying my hair again soon but don't want to take any chances. If you dye your hair, how long did you wait post-op?

2023.06.01 18:38 AsteriskRX Weekly Recap - 6/1/23

Happy June, everyone. I'm a few hours early this week, but it's time for the weekly recap!

Top Posts

Reddit incident reported: New comments are not showing
There was an incident where new comments were not showing up on posts a few days ago. That was resolved within a few hours, but as always, if you notice a bug like this, please send a report over to our helpdesk so that we can look into it.
Did Reddit make it so all videos are automatically unmuted?
This is a bug that we're looking into currently. I don't have any timeline I can share, but we hope to have this fixed as soon as we can.
How to turn off recommended subreddits?
These are what are known as home feed recommendations. If you’d like to turn off home feed recommendations on web, visit your feed settings and turn off the toggle next to Enable home feed recommendations: Allow us to introduce recommended posts in your home feed.
If you're on iOS or Android, go to your account settings and scroll down to Personalized Recommendations. From there, you'll see the option to turn off the toggle to Enable home feed recommendations.

Top Contributors

And of course, our top contributors for the week:
Thank you all!

New Trophy

I promised you all a surprise a few weeks ago. It's now ready! Every month, in addition to the helper tier trophies that are given out, there are three extra trophies for the folks that are top contributors to help, much like how I recognize them every week in this recap post.
So what are the criteria for a trophy such as this? I won't give out numbers or anything, but the key to getting this trophy is to give out quality answers week after week for a whole month. These trophies will be going out later today, so keep an eye out. If you read these posts weekly, you may have an idea as to who is getting them this month already.
That's all for this week!
As usual, if you think I missed a post or comment that you think deserves to be highlighted, feel free to drop it in the comments!

2023.06.01 18:38 IzzyAB Building experience as a GM

Feel these sorts of posts happen frequently here, and figured I'd give it a shot. Any feedback would be appreciated.
I've been a player for a bit, and I'm starting to put in more effort to learn how to GM myself. Now personally I'm a fan of 5e D&D, but I've messed around with White Wolf's Scion, a homebrewed FATE game, 1e Pathfinder, and a couple other one shots of things. This is just to say, I do have experience with other systems. LIMITED AND NARROW EXPERIENCE, BUT EXPERIENCE NONETHELESS.
While I'm still ironing out the lore and world for a future 5e or Pathfinder 2E campaign I want to run with a steady table, I still want to gain some experience as a GM.
And as it turns out, I have a couple of friends that want to play while I work on my lunatic ravings at night while I worldbuild.
Now I've heard simply GM a system you're excited about and while true I'd also love to hear some suggestions if possible.
Currently I'm thinking about three systems.
5e (the one I'm most familiar with and my favorite system due to that familiarity)
Kids on Brooms (Seems rules lite and I figure the slight deviation from medieval Europe in the setting that most newer players encounter might be a breathe of fresh air for everyone)
Call of Cthulhu (Don't know much about this one honestly, but the spook factor and change of setting seems interesting, but I am a little concerned this system doesn't lend itself for more than a one-shot)
They're a little less into roleplay and I'm unsure how hard it'll be to get them to engage with a new system (they sort of know 5e) or playing a game week after week.
For my sake in growing as a GM, I've done a handful of one-shots but I'd like to try something a bit more long term.
TLDR: This has been a very long post to simply ask, for someone who doesn't GM much, what's a good system to try for newer players who aren't super into roleplay and just want to hang out?

2023.06.01 18:37 atkarot9170 [PC] [1995-2001] A game about a werewolf.

Platform: PC (Windows 95/98)
Genre: First person mystery/puzzle adventure, similar to the old Nancy Drew games.
Estimated Year of Release: Between 1995 and 2001.
Graphics/Art Style: Pre-rendered 3D graphics. Again, something like Nancy Drew. From what little I remember of this game, its lighting was really dark, lots of grays and browns, and the style was mostly realistic... well, as realistic as you could make a game look at the time. I think one of the locations was someone's laboratory, and maybe a library or bookshelf was found in another location.
Notable Characters: At the start of the game (or at least early on), there is a pre-rendered cutscene of a man in a laboratory. The man falls onto the floor and off screen. Then, his hand reaches up and you watch it transform from a human hand to one with claws.
Notable Gameplay Mechanics: From what I remember, the game played almost identically to the classic Nancy Drew games. It was a first person point-and-click, and even had the same sort of UI. For reference:
You'd travel around all the "3D" spaces by clicking where you wanted to go. You'd interact with stuff by clicking them as well.
Other Details: Much like my post the other day about MissionForce: CyberStorm, this is another game I watched my dad play when I was 2-5 years old. Unfortunately, neither of us remember much other than the scene with the claw hand.
There are 2 interesting things he did mention, though. First, he remembers the title being something simple, possibly just "Werewolf," which didn't yield any results for me when I looked for it. Second, he remembers it being made by the same people behind an archaeologist/mummy-themed game that we played before this. Hopefully finding this game will help me in finding the other.

2023.06.01 18:37 Sharky-PI June 22-25 events; Hi & Cova Santa great DJs but nightmarish clubs?

Hi all, I'm coming to Ibiza for 4 days with the missus and looking to get at least 2 days clubbing. Staying in Santa Eulalia. Options seems to be:
Cova Santa, All Day I Dream: ADID is brilliant but the club sounds awful.
Hi: Tale of Us: ditto, club sounds like a nightmare.
Eden: Oakenfold extended set, trance & ibiza classics. Cheesy or amazing? San Antonio so a bit of a hike, esp as we'll have landed earlier & likely looking to relax
Amnesia "no event" = Overmono, could be dope, cheap tix
Pacha: Claptone & esp Flight Facilities are fab but same club as Sunday, bit samey? But Pacha's the closest club to us and is apparently really nice...
Pikes: Bushwacka, middle of nowhere but club/hotel looks super interesting.
Solomun + Chloé going to book 100%.
On the face of it, given I'm 100% keen to do Solomun Sunday, and the missus is likely only gonna wanna do 2 nights out, I'd choose Tale of Us @ Hi. BUT loads of reviews on TripAdvisor are terrible, specifically saying how dangerously overcrowded it is. My missus will 100% have a panic attack if this is the case, BUT, reading between the lines, maybe it was the case that all those folks were at the closing party with David Guetta? Which still sucks for them but maybe it's not the same on a random Thursday?? Would really appreciate the opinions of anyone who's been a few times, including this season. Cheers!
Similarly, Cova Santa: I love All Day I Dream but again the reviews are terrible. But again, maybe mitigating circumstances - reviews seem to be for the restaurant, so eat somewhere else, get a few drinks (or other) into us, and turn up for the club only?
Thanks for any intel folks. Also to avoid falling asleep during Solomun it'd be great to have a lovvey little pick-me-up; if anyone has any tips, I'd be incredibly grateful if they could DM me. Cheers all!

2023.06.01 18:37 dysteach-MT How do you handle the process of losing your independence?

Hi all, fairly new to Reddit, so please let me know if this is the right place to post. Warning- pretty long.
I was diagnosed with MS in 2012 when I was 38. I had weird vision issues, it felt like one eye wasn’t coordinating with the other. I could look at my classroom and see the students, but their faces were blurry. I couldn’t drive at night because of light tracers. Went through the normal ophthalmology channels and was referred to a neurologic ophthalmologist. He did a MRI just to be safe because there were no signs of optic neuritis. After my very first MRI, the nurse asked if this was my first, and said the doctor would call me the next day. I told her my doctor was leaving for a month and he said he’d follow up with me when he got back. The nurse said no, he would call me the next day. Surprise! You have MS and aren’t having acid flashbacks from the one time you took it at age 18.
Luckily, I was living in an amazing state with an impressive University medical center. My neurologist taught at the U and going to an appointment was like attending a class. He whipped out a sharpie and starting making amazing flow charts on the paper covering the exam table. He gave it to me at the end. Since the MRI showed active lesions, I took a super high dose of steroids. In the following 5 years, MRIs showed no new lesions, so I never started any medication. My brain developed new pathways and my vision cleared up.
In 2017, I decided to move home to Montana. After the fun experience of establishing care, I was given an absolutely wonderful neurologist in my large and growing city. He wasn’t an MS specialist, but there are only 2 in our state. At this point, I didn’t think I had MS since no new lesions in 5 years. So, I got an MRI here, and low and behold, new lesions. (Part of the reason is the MRI machine here is newer with better quality.) I was started on Copaxone. About 4 months after starting, I had a relapse and lost some mild functioning in my left hand. In addition, I started having problems with my vision again- same issue as before. Had a follow up MRI showing no new lesions. I was also under a ton of stress during that time. I’ve now figured out that when I get stressed, my brain “forgets” the new neural pathway and reverts to the old broken pathway.
So, I was struggling with high stress from my job and extreme exhaustion. He sent me for a sleep study and I was diagnosed with apnea and started using a C-Pap. No change on the exhaustion. They started me on Modafinil and it was a game changer. Over the next 2 years, I lost a significant amount of weight (in a healthy way). My next sleep study showed no apnea at all (yay!) but my oxygen levels dropped significantly when I slept. So now, I’m on oxygen when I sleep. My sleep doctor did some blood tests that showed my iron levels were low but my ferritin test was high, so I couldn’t take any supplements.
Then, my neurologist, who I absolutely adore, explained that the entire neurology department (doctors only) quit due to the horrible administration. I had access to a PA over the next year. Just to be clear, there are two MS specialists in my state- the one 2 hours away was not accepting any new patients and the one 3 hours away had a 2 year wait. I live in the fastest growing city in the US, and it’s a college town. The hospital here is very large and serves all the rural communities. Luckily, a new health clinic extension is opening and I’m hoping the competition will bring positive changes. But, new clinic won’t have a neurologist for at least another year.
In the meantime, my cognitive and executive functioning have fallen off of a cliff. My short term memory is the same as a goldfish. My exhaustion is at an all time high and Modafinil assistance has plateaued. I quit my job and now am doing private tutoring- but I can usually only handle 4 hours a day. I can still tutor because I have been doing the same program for over 20 years, but learning something new is almost impossible. Perfect example of executive functioning issues: I went over to help a friend learn how to can and make jam. No problem! Then I go to pack up my stuff and I can’t figure out how to do it. It usually takes me 3 or 4 tries to leave the house, even if I have tried to set out what I need the night before. I have a waitlist of private clients needing help, but I’ve become so flaky with cancelling sessions because I never know when I will hit a brick wall, so I don’t want to start with any new clients.
Then, I get a call scheduling me with a new neurologist to establish care. Yay!!! And I find out that he is a neurology generalist, and of course, 1 neurologist to cover a large population. I like the new neurologist, but can tell he was stressed and overworked. I had the hard conversation about going on a partial disability. I am also having some cardiac issues that also cause fatigue. And surprise- here is another lesion that they missed on my last MRI a year ago. I asked how to start the disability process, and the doctor said the hospital used to have a social worker to help but not any more.
Now, I’m scheduled for a follow up MRI and neuropsych evaluation. I had to have an internal heart monitor installed. A new cardiologist ordered genetic testing, and that came back with an “unknown marker”. I’m also having problems with my joints hurting and popping out of place (this is also congenital- my joints dislocate super easy). I am depressed over not being able to afford to live. I am overwhelmed with trying to figure out public assistance here. The local Human Rights non profit has helped me apply for SNAP and emergency rental assistance, and I found someone at our low income clinic to help with disability paperwork today, but she said I will be denied and it will be a long process.
I can’t do the paperwork on my own. I did find a counselor and have an appointment next week. I feel like I am drowning and am grieving losing my independence. The worst part is that my MS is invisible. I have no lesions on my spine, and one optic nerve is slightly larger than the other, but healed. My left hand is a little slow, but only I notice. I grew up in a family (and state culture!) that you pull yourself up by your bootstraps and don’t ask for help. People can’t see that I’m struggling. I’ve been accused of being high when I repeat a conversation or have a hard time coming up with a word. My fabulous brother accused me of making it all up to be a “freeloader” that is too lazy to work. There are no MS support groups here. Parkinson’s & Huntington’s have multiple groups. Even attending an MS group is difficult because I don’t have mobility problems and I don’t feel welcome.
Any helpful advice? (After the new MRI, we will revisit changing from Copaxone to another medication.)

2023.06.01 18:34 wezp94 Most reliable, high mpg, auto family sized car for £19k

Apologies, I would have posted in the mega thread but I feel my requirements are a bit more bespoke.
I'm looking to buy a new(ish) car that's not a tiny hatchback, so more like a family sized hatchback/SUV/saloon. My requirements in order of priority are: 1. automatic = 2. As good an mpg as possible (recent fuel cost rises have worried me) = 2. Reliable (fed up of my '07 320d being in the garage) 4. Petrol (I know mpg won't stack up but again, concerned about the gov introducing more tax against diesels, overall I just want low fill up costs)
I don't care much for brands, I'd get a Corolla or CH-R which would tick most of those boxes if it wasn't for my partner not liking the looks. Looks matter but I'm just trying to understand my options.
Japanese cars come out top for reliability from what I've read. Hear that fords newer auto's are quite good. The two I've come up with myself so far is a 20 plate Focus 1.0 125 auto and a Mazda 3 skyactiv-X auto.
Can't go electric with where I live but fine with a hybrid if that's the best option (providing it's not plug-in)
I read so many different things about their 'true' mpg though. So any help is greatly appreciated!

2023.06.01 18:33 gdblu How to arrange/decorate with multiple themes/interests

When you have multiple interests that you want to incorporate into a room, what's the best way to do so? For example:
In my home office, I have my bourbon collection and some bourbon/cigar decor, military paraphernalia, college football items, and then some random items that were gifts from kids. On top of that, my wife got me a race bib/medal display, plus I have some random things like a cross made from pallet wood, etc. This room falls under my wife's scrutiny because it's highly visible and the first room you see when you enter our home (I've already gotten rid of all my geeky stuff, as a result). I'd like it to look classy, too, and not completely random or like the walls of a Cracker Barrel.
In my garage, I have more military & college football items (flags & stuff that wouldn't fit the aesthetic I was going for in the home office), my Volkswagen collection (die-cast, framed posters, art work), and more (some old NASCAR stuff, etc).
Is there a certain number of themes you can mix together before it becomes too much? Do I need to condense/niche down? And do you group each theme together, or spread them all out/mix them?

2023.06.01 18:31 ferretgr Nitecore NB10000 Gen 1 - Troubleshooting

Hi folks,
I feel like ultralight are the experts when it comes to this particular piece of gear. Hopefully someone can help me puzzle this bit out.
My NB10000 was stored in the fall in working condition. I broke it out for a trip about a month ago, charged it (which went smoothly), and went about my business. When I attempted to charge using it, I was unable to do so. I tested multiple cables, both output ports, on multiple devices needing charge, and nothing worked, so I think it's fair to say it's definitely the NB10000. Since both ports failed at once, I'd imagine it's some failure aside from the individual ports themselves, ie. neither is being fed power for some reason.
Any ideas? Has anyone here ever cracked one open and poked around inside?

I feel a little mislead by this subreddit and posts on the web. :) I tried Speculoos and was very underwhelmed. They just taste like a generic spice cookie with a slightly burnt taste. I don't get the hype.
I'd choose virtually any other TJ sweet/cookie over them.
