Oceans cover more than 70% of Earth and drive weather, regulate temperature, and support life on this planet. Our oceans are a vast system of diverse and complex ecosystems and natural resources; and the health of the world’s oceans is inextricably tied to the health of our planet. And amazingly, up to 95% of the ocean realm remains an unexplored mystery.

2023.03.30 00:23 kaleviko [All] He was far away
When Return got going, Agent Cooper had a quick sit-down with The Fireman, high up in his station on a rock in the middle of the purple sea, as seen later in P8. After spelling out some cryptic clues, the Fireman sent him off.
The Fireman: "You ... are far away."
Cooper flickered. Then he was gone.
Almost anything whatsoever would have been
far away from that place. Yet, it felt like we were supposed to be able to figure out where Cooper went.
Elsewhere in P2, some Cooper fell through the Black Lodge floor into "non-existence". This was then cut to some Cooper dropping on a level right outside the glass box warehouse in New York and then floating to the box itself through a hole in the wall. Suddenly, the box started multiplying back and forth like a Russian doll which was followed by Cooper floating out again.
This was cut back to Cooper falling through non-existence. Maybe these were the same Cooper, or perhaps one Cooper's glass box scene was just cut in the middle of another one falling.
So, as Cooper went in and out of the glass box, nothing happened to him and nobody saw him. This didn't come across as very meaningful.
Lynch seems to have frequently set up two strange scenes that needed a third one to make sense of both. Or at least his own kind of sense that we are not necessarily familiar or comfortable with.
In P3, Tammy was presenting her findings from New York on a large television in an FBI conference room.
Tammy: "Then on the night of the murders, on camera, this appears."
She took a remote control from the table and
pointed at the television a bit theatrically. There was
a shadowy figure inside the glass box. It wasn't Cooper or The Experiment Model but some other passer-by.
But perhaps it wasn't so much the figure that we needed to pay attention to. Maybe we got some meta play with referencing pronouns again: Tammy's "this" could also have
about the remote control that she right then took from the table. If so, as strange as it sounds, it was the remote control that appeared on the night of the murders, on camera.
A remote control is often called as just "remote". On the other hand, if a place is
far away, it can also said to be
remote. Cooper was far away, and then he appeared on the night of the murders, very much on camera, whether he got recorded or not.
You ... are remote. Cooper floating in the glass box and then vanishing somewhere was followed by Sarah Palmer watching another kind of glass box - television. Inspecting the scene closely,
her remote control was nowhere to be seen, not then nor in her later scenes in P13 and P17.
If we didn't quite get it yet, it seems this twist was demonstrated to us differently in P15. Cooper was sitting in Jones's kitchen. There was a remote control on the table in front of him. Janey-E brought him a piece of chocolate cake, and he started slowly eating it. Then,
a salt shaker caught his attention, and he moved it next to the remote.
Keep your far-away close to the shaker. Earlier in the opening episode, when the Fireman told Cooper he was "far away", it wasn't shown yet but only in a wider shot of the same room in P8 that there was a huge bell-shaped device next to him. It had a similar shape than the salt shaker, possibly implying that the remote control stood there for Agent Cooper, both "remote" in their own way. In P15, the appearance of the remote may have anticipated Cooper's return an episode later.
This was probably also meant to work together with another kind of shaker. In P4, some Bill
Shaker went to talk to the headless Cooper in the casino. The relevant part of their interaction would have been this:
Bill Shaker: "Your house has the red door. That's how I always find it. Near Merlin's Market. It's not far from here."
Cooper: "Far from here."
Bill Shaker: "No, not far from here."
So then, the surreal implication seems to have been that the remote control Tammy had with her was an abstraction for Agent Cooper. Perhaps Cooper didn't anticipate that being "far away" meant the Fireman turning him into a remote but it looks like that's how he ended up as.
This would be quite fitting regarding how the glass box warehouse was made to look like a parody of mindless television watching, with Agent Cooper thrown there to complete the setting as its "remote".
If this was now roughly followed as intended, what possible reason would this twist have served? To get closer to an answer, we might need to count those boxes that kept coming and going while Cooper floated inside the glass box.

You just don’t have the clarity. - Develop a long-term strategy to create your own niche — meaning you don’t have to worry about your “competition” playing status games.

Phase 2) Content Strategy There is one thing that separates those who make it in the digital economy and those who don’t.It’s the quality, articulation, and perceived originality of their content. The content you post has to make sense to the people you attract.Everyone has a different voice and tone that they resonate with. **That they are congruent with and trust.**It has to change their thought patterns or behavior — that’s what makes you memorable. That’s what separates you from the sea of people posting surface-level copy-cat style posts.Example and putting my money where my mouth is: - Become an expert-level speaker or writer on the topics you care about.

2023.03.30 00:14 ToastyMan767 Is the scroll intentionally this vague?
TLDR: Coping because I couldn’t find meat ball man on my own like a big boy.
I picked up the game a few days ago and have been loving every bit of it. The constant creep of new content is incredible and I feel the game had done a very good job of leading you onto the next task.
Up until getting the scroll I’ve been able to do everything without having to look anything up and I love getting that sense of accomplishment, but I feel the scroll was either designed without this breadcrumb concept in mind or is just misleading and random in the style of say cod zombies.
“Go to the bottom of Gallo Tower” was the first secret I attempted and after running down for 28 minutes getting to the dark zone and music change then dying to an Atlantean and then doing it again and still not finding the “bottom” I assumed that the glyphs on the background that now read “IAMALIVEHERE” was the spell. After that didn’t work I tried to find a clue online only to find out you have to find and defeat Leda who moves WAY slower than you among the literal sea of enemies with half your screen blacked out.
And based on some other posts there are worse offenders. So can you reasonably discover most of the scroll secrets on your own or is it kinda made to be something to force community cooperation for example?I still enjoy this game a ton but saying this didn’t lower my spirits at least a bit would be a lie. Thank your for reading my rant, enjoy your evening.

2023.03.30 00:13 henchman_87 Looking for a generator
Looking to get a generator for my new RV and not sure how much power I need. RV is a Kodiak Ultimate 3301BHSL. I'd like to run both AC units to get it as cold as possible, wife has fibromyalgia and any uncomfortable heat makes her skin feel like it's on fire. 2 slides, 37'. Currently living in Alaska (summers do get hot with sun being up 20+ hrs a day) and very few parks we want to visit have hookups. Google was all over the place between 2kW and 10kW, so looking for as many recommendations as possible. There also a possibility of living in it a few months so might be running two PCs with monitors as well.

| It was all going so well… I had the ball in the goalkeepers hands on the 84th minute with a 2-1 lead. Knew the goal was coming so I time wasted by holding onto the ball as long as possible and put it on the floor before the attackers pressed. Time wasted midway into the 89th minute before going to lump it up the pitch with my RWB. He kicks it straight into the nearest attackers face, the ball bounces fortunately for him and he runs through and sweats it across the box on 91 mins. FML lol. Start ET, in control no problem. Second half et my LWB just disappears and they run through from the halfway line and score with five minutes left to play. Shit. Oh well, I’ve got five minutes to get the goal and take it to pens, I need a kick off goal. Ball nicked by the ai immediately from kickoff and the CBs randomly part like the dead Sea leaving an easy through ball and goal. Game over! I’ll have to wait until 2034 I guess… submitted by ElZorroGigante to FifaCareers [link] [comments] |
2023.03.30 00:09 T-Rexcellent78 [D&D 5e] [Online] [Homebrew] [18+] Seeking an adventurer to join our party in a homebrew game!
Welcome Adventurer to the world of Urth! The Godspire calls to you centered in a land marred by ancient wars and mysterious machinations, surrounded by the black waters of the Thalassa Ocean. The land of Godspiria is dissected into five distinct realms. The North, land of Ice and Fire; The South, land of Leaf and Glimmer; The West, land of Isles and Iron; The East, land of Sea and Stars; and The Godspire, the eye of Godspiria, homeland to the New God’s Children.
The year is currently 499 of the 3rd age, Ever since the heroes of the 2nd age stopped Sune from falling to Urth, magic has steadily been weakening. The phenomenon became known when mages could no longer maintain the waygates between the realms. Those relying on travel and commerce had to resort to more archaic and dangerous methods, given that the wilds are home to dinosaurs and monsters. Your adventure begins when you embark on a Longneck caravan to the town of Saursburg for a reason specific to you.
My name is Matt and I'm seeking a brave adventurer to start a D&D 5e pen and paper game set in my homebrew world of Urth during the weekend! In this game I've challenged myself to use as few online resources as possible to create the world and adventure. I've managed to find 3 other party member's already, and wish to hold a session 0 with you. The other party members are folks that I have procured from Reddit so no pressure of walking into an established friend group. Our party are from all kinds of timezones so feel free to apply
As a bit of background on myself, I'm a happily married 28 year old man, living on the West Coast of the US; I've played in 4 campaigns spanning over the past 6 years or so, both D&D 5e and Pathfinder, online and in person and have DM'd 2 one shots on roll20. I understand if you are cautious as to my lack of DMing experience but I'm a dedicated, stable, and consistent person who strives to deliver a quality product to my future friends. :)
To start off the Adventure I'd like to have you create a character over a session 0, where I'll give details about Urth and you should feel free to create world elements of your own to fit a backstory for your player character. I encourage everyone to be open with most aspects of their character to foster excitement but I also see the value in keeping some parts of your characters past a mystery as well.
The Game will be played on the Saturday mornings/Afternoon as we do have an established first session on April 22nd 10:30 PST during 5+ hour sessions in a Monthly to 3 week (possibly 2 week) frequency depending on scheduling issues as everyone of has a life outside of the game. We will begin at 3rd level as you are a semi experienced adventurer in your own rite and end the campagin around roughly level 17 to 20. The only restrictions that I'm imposing for narrative reasons are specific races, I will list them below for you to decide if you are willing to make a character and play in the campaign. In addition homebrew subclasses are an option but we'll only be using any of the 14 available classes in the D&D sourcebooks. The Races have been changed in both historical description and theme so please keep that in mind, so as to not create a full fledged character before hand.
Centaur Gnome (Deep Gnomes only) Fairy Goliath Human Lizardfolk Minotaur Satyr Warforged
I intend for this to be a pen and paper game, however I will not limit you if you wish to use resources like D&D beyond and the like. I only mean that I will be making simple maps to use on webcam and not be utilizing online resources, as that is my challenge, not yours. I want to give you all as close to an "in-person" experience as possible while likely being across the world from each other. I will be wearing a costume and do my best impressions of NPC's for both your amusement as well as mine. That is to say that I don't expect you to be a master-class roleplayer, so please don't judge my goofy theatrics too harshly.
As a few out of game related rules It is imperative that everyone in the game be 18+, as it is possible that there may be some themes that may be not suitable for minors (Nothing NSFW of course). The game is meant to be celebrated but not to it's detriment so please don't become overly intoxicated both in alcohol or drugs, before or during the game.
If you are interested in playing, you’re welcome to fill out a PC application at the following link:
https://forms.gle/7GHEHkzLs9oqBGry7 . I look forward to seeing your story unfold on Urth and hope you have a wonderful week! :D

2023.03.30 00:03 biasface Phoenix Empire postgame review
2023.03.30 00:03 RascalRace Ethiopia's 2052 port diversification strategy
2023.03.30 00:02 Pun-kachu Hot take: Jagex using Navigation as the core mechanic in sailing is a mistake. It needs a quantifiable action. My suggestion:Treasure-Hunting, with Shamanism items created to complete the action, and rewards from shamanism are the treasure items you’re hunting/trading treasure to acquire. Hear me out:
No, I don’t have a 5000 paragraph essay perfectly laid out on how to make it work perfectly, who does? What I’m proposing as the skill would actually be considered a simple action of hunting treasure, but is accomplished through multiple, complex actions which incorporate the mechanics of sailing at its core.
Release Treasure-hunting as the skill, and Shamanism principles/undertones as partial updates to different skills that can contribute to the forwarding of treasure hunting as the main skill.
-Totems fletched from logs, gems cut and placed in the totems to ward off storms/bad luck, magic to imbue it with the luck (which helps your ship avoid certain problems during the treasure hunt).
-Spiritual guides can be shamalamadingdonged to help guide the ship through prayer. Sara flag for partial loot piracy, zammy ghost ships for full on wilderness chaos/piracy. Multiple concepts like this can be thought up pretty easily. Able to have two port ships, one for each sea.
- Higher tiers speed up/make easiebetter defenses/other benefits. Can only be pked by certain level ships around or below you. No 200m ships yoinking starter boats.
- Can buy totems if you don’t have the levels to make them.
- loot untradeable for obvious reasons.
-Keeping the boat alive while following maps/clue scrolls to new coordinates, fighting sea monsters along the way to gain additional loot, scales by TH level and is an OPTIONAL boost to loot. Cursed loot from wilderness seas worth more xp, but 100% pk-able.
- Then you have to return with the treasure to get the full xp conversion. A certain percent for finding it, and a certain amount for returning with it. If a pker sinks you, you lose a certain percentage of the loot in “regulated waters.” TBD. Loot obtainable scales with Treasure-Hunter level, and trades in for various rewards/xp/boat upgrades. Choose wisely!
Ships have to have a certain amount of supplies in a coffer that they need to maintain/sail the ship, and make up a cost to sail. Ship pkers have to have a certain amount of loot risked to be able to go fight boats (maybe pay Poseidon to hunt in his waters, idk).
This in my opinion takes the best from both pitches, and fixes a fundamental flaw with the sailing pitch.
This skill will cement the all time rankings on the OSRS scoreboard FOREVER. Shit should be a fucking bloodbath to get to the top first. I feel the risk vs reward of two different types of oceans accomplishes that extremely well.
Please offer your critiques and suggestions. I want to make this skill make sense, and my solution is to do a type of dual rollout of sorts to incorporate both sailing and shamanism. This is in NO WAY a perfect answer. I just hope this leads to a better skill.
What this accomplishes: -Resource burn in several skills -boost interest in associated skills and jagex can use this as a means to revitalize said skills/new moneymakers -A fun and extremely competitive experience in general and for rank 1 grinders -pirates AND ghost shaman -wilderness risk&reward -introduce both contents and reduces the expectations for rewards for combat upgrades so we dont totally break the combat structure like a bunch of degenerates (only a few minor upgrades. +1 prayer boost, skilling boosts, other boosts similar to archaeology structure in rs3)
Let’s see how this goes lol

2023.03.30 00:02 sNills 'HoL' and 'The Simpsons' (and 'The Day of the Locust' and 'La Strada')
Writing this without editing it because this subreddit doesn't get much traffic and I don't want to make an account on the forums. Just finished the book and have been looking here and on forums to fill in some gaps. One of the things I didn't see anyone talk about in any serious capacity was the multiple references to
The Simpsons (none of which are alluded to in the Index.)
The most basic explanation is that HoL was written in the 1990s, when
The Simpsons was about as ubiquitous as you could get. When MZD was writing and he needed a reference to a cartoon cat and dog or to add some color to someone watching TV,
The Simpsons was right there for him. It adds a sense of verisimilitude to the story.
But we can also think about what the references to
The Simpsons represent in the narrative.
On page XXI, Johnny says he initially thought Zampanò was so bleak he would make
Itchy and Scratchy look like
Calvin and Hobbes. (This is a really weird thing to say;
I&S is a clear parody of
Tom and Jerry, not
C&H.) I've found some passing analysis to this, but it's mainly through the lens of the discussion about animals present in HoL. If MZD wanted this to be about animals, he would've mentioned Snowball and Santa's Little Helper, the Simpsons' actual pets, not Itchy and Scratchy. (He would also not mention Calvin and Hobbes, neither of which are animals.) So why these two? For one, they're hyper-violent, a theme that runs through HoL.
I&S is also incredibly meta. (So is Calvin!) The Poochie episode alone is a deconstruction not just of television, FOX, animated television and
The Simpsons itself. The first reference is a primer for the themes that HoL is built on.
The second reference (I remember another one, but can't find it) comes on page 371. Navy watches Homer talk to his long-lost brother Herb in the episode 'Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?' The fact that he's a brother is apparent, but the fact that they're estranged and Homer "steals" Herb's "birthright" by bankrupting his company is less obvious. Yes, another Jacob and Esau tangent.
Now, have you ever read
The Day of the Locust by Nathaniel West? It's good, but largely unimportant. Only this is:
"I took that name from a minor character in the novel The Day of the Locust... Since Homer was my father's name, and I thought Simpson was a funny name in that it had the word “simp” in it, which is short for “simpleton”—I just went with it" --Matt Groening
This, I think, is important to remember when talking about the fan theory that HoL's Zampanò is the same character from
La Strada transported to a book and robbed of his sight.
La Strada has almost no thematic overlap with HoL unless you watch the film with this theory explicity in mind. There's nothing to suggest the two characters are the same except for the name. And Homer Simpson, more than representing the average American father or representing a Jacob figure, is a name that means less than it seems. (Remember that 'Simpson' is not in the Index, and also consider that 'Homer' gets three entries in the Index: once for the author of the Odyssey; once for Homer Spit, a location in Alaska; once for Homer Simpson. None for the character in
Day of the Locust.) To Groening, it was just a funny sounding name — no ironies with Homer's
Odyssey or double entendres. Perhaps this is MZD's way of winking at the camera, an admission that he just needed a name that starts with Z and contains lots of vowels for the cyphers he put in the book.
Basically, the multiple references to
The Simpsons are an admission that Zampanò is not from
La Strada but in fact signifies nothing. Death of the author and all that, but I think most of the fan theories in this vein are missing a lot.

- Learn about the future of media and code — the front-end and backend of the internet — so you can focus your efforts.
- Understand digital leverage, distribution, no-code tools, and digital assets so you can take part in the mental & financial wealth transfer.
Phase 1) Creating A Meaningful Niche Every day I hear people going on and on about trying to find their niche.I also hear people talking about how they don’t know how to combine what they love talking about with what will sell. You already have the answer. You just don’t have the clarity. - Develop a long-term strategy to create your own niche — meaning you don’t have to worry about your “competition” playing status games.
- Discover your life’s work, curiosities, and obsessions. I see too many people that are uncertain about this for years.
- Cultivate and turn your vision, goals, and values into a brand that attracts an audience you love interacting with (and that will buy from you, and only you).
Phase 2) Content Strategy There is one thing that separates those who make it in the digital economy and those who don’t.It’s the quality, articulation, and perceived originality of their content. The content you post has to make sense to the people you attract.Everyone has a different voice and tone that they resonate with. That they are congruent with and trust. It has to change their thought patterns or behavior — that’s what makes you memorable. That’s what separates you from the sea of people posting surface-level copy-cat style posts.Example and putting my money where my mouth is: - Become an expert-level speaker or writer on the topics you care about.
- Never run out of content ideas for your posts or promotions (without using content templates — that’s how you stay a commodity).
- Create posts, blogs, tweets, images, and videos that resonate with other’s on a deep level. People will actually ask you how you got so good at what you do.
- Separate yourself from the ocean of B-tier creators that struggle to sell their products, services, andhave their ideas stick in the head of their audience.
- Implement our Epistemic Research Method — which is just a fancy way of saying scientific research method… but it’s for researching your mind to craft brilliant content and product ideas.
Phase 3) Crafting Your Offer Most people are sitting on a goldmine of skills, experience, and knowledge ( that they can use to help people 1-2 steps behind them). That is what people pay for.Considering 95% of the market are beginners… if you are good at something, you can help them get to your level ( no matter how “basic” you think the information is).Do you not watch basic content all day anyway? People don’t want new information, they want to be reminded of what works. - Use our Minimum Viable Offer strategy to start monetizing immediately (and have something to improve over time, rather than procrastinating until it’s perfect).
- Have a strategy for reducing the time you spend working over time (as you build leverage and improve your offer).
- Know how to create your own customers from the audience you are building, instead of “finding” the right customer for your offer.
- Take the guesswork out of building coaching, consulting, or digital product offers.
Phase 4) Marketing Strategy You aren’t making money because you aren’t promoting yourself or your offer. That is literally the only way to make money. Have something desirable and consistently put it in front of peoples’ faces. In Phase 4, I will show you how to systemize, automate, and be consistent with simple promotions. You will be able to make money without having the chance of forgetting to do it (or letting fear of failure get in the way). - Learn to sell on social media, in your writing, and across different platforms.
- Have consistent sales coming in while focusing on your meaningful message (no need to sound salesy all the time).
- Learn advanced automation strategies that you can implement at your own pace, especially once you validate your offer.
Bonus) The Creator Command Center The Creator Command Center is a Notion template that houses all of the systems. This is how you will manage your brand, content, offer creation, marketing strategy, and systemized promotions for consistent sales. Bonus) Live Product Build & Launch In the first Digital Economics Cohort, I built out my course The 2 Hour Writer.I have videos showing how I build it with the strategies in phase 3 and 4.There is a bonus module that shows how I had an $85,000 launch that resulted in my first $100K month.I did this to prove the strategies inside Digital Economics work if you stick to the plan. And, this past Black Friday, I blew my that monthly high out of the water in 4 days. That’s the power of these strategies if you stay consistent with your life’s work. submitted by AutoModerator to Agency_Navigator_Gadz [link] [comments] |
2023.03.29 23:59 Statik-1 Lana'i Lookout
This is a true story that happened when I was 20yrs. old. My friend guys called me and said, 'Ae we go party by Koko Head Crater'. It was a cool breezy day out. We went around 10:30am. So us guys went to the store, bought lots of beer and headed out to this place called "Lana'i Lookout',, because on a clear sunny day you can see the outer islands from this lookout, on the east side of Oahu Island. We parked then carried all the brew down to the area by the water. This is a dangerous place because of the waves slamming against the rocky cliffs We're 2 stories above where the waves break, 12ft. out from the edge of the rocks, got fish and sharks. It's deep blue water and waves 6' + was shattering the
coastline. We were shooting small caliber rounds at targets. 2 to 3 hours went by in the scorching sun, We were all fucked up and hungry (forgot to bring grinds). Places along the edge of the cliffs have a Hawaiian delicacy called, "Opihi", something like barnacles, ( $22 dollars a lb). They hang where the waves break on the rocks. We found some but we would have to wait until after the "Sets",(5-6 huge waves every 5 min) roll in. The plan was I climb down while my friends watch for the Sets.. Was clear, I
climbed down, picking the Opihi then brada yell, sets, I climb up fast then 2 more times until I was scraping one and missed I broke the shell. The Hawaiian legends says,, "If you break the Opihi shell it'll start crying to the ocean". I wasn't thinking then, I was hungry and kept going. I turned to the ocean to assure
didn't have waves. Then all of a sudden the water was rising to my waist (but I didn't see any waves) then the water rose over my head sweeping me off the cliffs into the ocean leaving a gash on my shoulder, was all bleeding dripping in the water, I had about 10 minutes before the undertow would take me out to sea. Already, the amount of blood loss alerted the sharks. I let go all of the Opihi. My friends were in shock to see me in the treacherous waters. My life flashed before me. I knew this was the end so I
apologized and said I'm sorry for picking the Opihi. I was in the undertow now being pulled out to sea. Then suddenly the first of the set of waves started coming in. It was huge. I tried catching the wave in, the wave went under me, picked me up and threw me exactly where I fell in the ocean. I quickly climbed up, my friends pulling me up. I thought wow, the ocean gave me a 2nd chance at life. We immediately left this place. I never went back again. End.
