2023.06.04 05:56 Earllad How much of your state standards do you folks actually achieve in a year?
I am just curious as I really can't wrap my head around the TEKS(texas standards) for my subject (physics) sometimes. There are nine huge strands. I'm looking at about 145 clean instructional days next year after subtracting the usual testing days and other disruptions. It's just not possible to do it all and usually I get about 7/9 done befor the EOY. My pacing is good, we don't waste time but we do cover everything well. Grade level teks cover many huge topic not even addressed in AP lol.
Never get to the end of the scope and sequence, though. I feel slightly guilty at the end of the year that we couldn't cram it all in there, but at the same time it's not a reasonable sequence IMHO.
Just curious, other folks out there, how close do you get? Do you think it's a big deal to hit it all in an upper level course, or hit some but very well?

Did a valve clean, one where you spray the can into the engine air intake. Followed the instructions exactly how it said on the can. Waited for an hour and went for a drive for a bit. Now sometimes there this metallic rattling noise, sounds like it's coming from the front. Only lasted a few seconds then went away and back again a minute or so later. Seemed to be when accelerating and it felt like it affected how it was accelerating but I'm not completely positive. Might just be something loose in the engine bay. I'll check it out tomorrow when there's light but I just want an idea what I should check exactly. Any advice would be appreciated

2023.06.04 04:33 chickennugget8008 15 minute restart time when clicking restart on windows 11, less than a minute to turn off, and turn on, even when the pc is 100 percent shut off, cpu and everything.
Ive made sure everything is updated cleaned, barely any apps on startup other than essentials(drivers antivirus), ive updated the bios giving me a panic attack in the procces (not literally).
I dont know what the issue is, i am using mcaffe antivirus which is annoying but I am not the one paying for it, basic specs are

- This is the CQI version (date code AV on the box) which fixed the lock disengage flaw in the first iteration.
- It has some very minor vertical play if you wiggle the tip of the blade. I posted about this on the Spyderco forums as my only experience with their backlocks is a Native 5 which was rock solid. Apparently this is common and expected on some of the backlock Spyderco product lines. Doesn't show up on video but you can feel it if you're manipulating it just right. Drops shut about half way (right onto your finger if you aren't choked up all the way).

I did read the instructions and it says to clean with a damp mop and dry immediately, however I have animals and a kid (both gross) so I would feel better using something to kill germs. Yesterday, a person DMed me and invited me to join his Discord server. Before clicking on any link, I googled the name of the project and it looked legit.
I joined the discord and i needed to get verified. Normally, discord servers are using bots such as Double Counter. This Discord server was using a similar tool (I forgot the name). Before doing the verification, I googled the name of the tool, and it seemed legit.
I didn't click on the link provided on the server. I went by myself on the website using Google. The website was really nice and clean and the instructions were very clear: there is a button that needs to be dragged in the Chrome bookmark section. Once done, click on it while the Discord is open. I followed those steps since it is fairly similar to double counter.
Few second after, I started to see that my discord was in Chinese and a very kitch blinking window with a skull popped up... I lost access to my discord. The 2FA was activated but somehow the guy bypassed it.
I immediately totally formated my computer (complete formating), I re-installed all my softwares from scratch and I made a new Discord account. After a fight with the hacker, (me logging him, him unlogging me, me changing the password since I have the 2FA and reconnecting, him reconnecting as well etc.) I managed to get my account back and i deleted it.
I turned on avanced protection on chrome and I added the avast extension.
But since nowadays, everything is synchronized with chrome, how can I be sure that I got rid of the vulnerability?

I'm in a situation where my radiator is collecting a lot of water and coming out the drainage holes. I've cleaned out the outside unit very well and all the fans and motors appear to be functioning well. Based on my research that means it's most likely either low on refrigerant, or the coil is corroded as hell. The company I've spoken to want $150cdn (about $111 US) per pound plus likely about $300 in labor. It's a 3 pound 12 oz system. The other issue of course is that there may be a leak, which would waste a lot of money if I charge it and find that out. They said they can pump some micro hole filler or something but I'm not sure how well that will work. Although this system is like 30 years old so is it possible it just slowly reduced without a leak over that time? Anyway it's a crappy situation. Thanks for any help.

I definitely understand the sentiment behind going SEAL Team 6 and cleaning house on Valley of the Dolls. I mean, you bought the game, play how you want. But in my opinion, taking the high profile suspects alive and being impartial with your RoE is what makes your SWAT team the best. The rest of LSPD is either corrupt or burnt out, and your precinct is in shambles, your team is the last line of defence between chaos and justice. I know it's a game, but I shouldn't have to expressly mention I want to take suspects alive, I feel like that should be a given, then if we want to go John Wick, we can offer it up. I dunno, I'm just salty that every match up wants to go guns blazing and it kinda ruins the challenge and immersion, for me at least.

Now his friend comes over every weekend and stays the night. He usually asks to have the apartment to himself, so I’ll sleep at a friend’s place or, a couple of times now, my parents’ house. He knows I don’t really feel safe there and it usually brings up some trauma, but I respect the boundary he’s set and do my best to deal with it. Coming back is the worst, though. This weekend I came home to see a half-finished bottle of wine on the counter that they had together, his bedroom a mess, and all kinds of gifts and snacks from this new person. I’m almost positive they smoked out of my bong together but he won’t admit it. There’s always traces of their weekend together all around OUR apartment and him not even bothering to clean it up, after basically kicking me out of the house, feels like taunting me. His new friend also ended up blocking me on Tinder out of nowhere weeks after they had started talking, which means at some point they talked about me. I asked him about this because it felt weird and he said they put the pieces together themself about who I was and he didn’t ask them to do it. I believe him but it still made me uncomfortable.
They’re also basically a carbon copy of me. He always said I was so different from who he’d dated before, and I know what kind of people he usually goes for and who he was talking to before this person and it definitely comes as a surprise. The new person looks and dresses just like me, and most of their common interests he’s mentioned are media that I showed him when we were together. He’s mentioned to me a few times that we would get along and he’d like us to meet eventually, and seems sincere about it, but I don’t know if I could do that. Him moving on and finding somebody was always going to hurt, but it being somebody so starkly similar to me makes it feel really weird.
And to be honest, I don’t think it’s him that doesn’t want me around, and I believe he didn’t tell them to block me and that he’d like us to meet. This kind of stuff is totally out of character for him and our friendship and living situation has been great otherwise. He’s a big sweetheart and will often ask me if I’d rather not hear about it or if he’s making me uncomfortable when he tells me about them. I got to thinking about the Tinder situation, and both of us have our Tinder accounts linked to our Instagram, where we have photos up with each other and still follow each other. It’s completely reasonable for somebody who’s matched and talked with both of us to figure out that we know each other, if not that we used to date. I’m very suspicious of someone who would see both of our profiles, start hanging out with him, suddenly block me, and then I can’t be around while they’re together. I don’t know what this relative stranger’s motive would be to mess with me, but it all comes together too well for me to not suspect something.
On the weekends when I give him the apartment, or when I go into the kitchen and see remnants of their fun nights together, I feel totally crushed. I get sick to my stomach thinking that somebody whose face I’ve seen is sleeping in the bed with him that I slept in all those years. And it makes it so, so much worse that I get asked to leave my own home for them to spend time together and to come home to see their shit everywhere. I know this is all selfish, but it hurts to see him running around having fun with basically my doppelganger while I’m still recovering from our four year relationship and have no interest in dating. And all these other things, like leaving traces and them randomly blocking me, just feel like twisting the knife. I don’t have the financial means to move out and really don’t want to, and his friendship is so important to me, but this new person is making me feel taunted and unwelcome in my own home and it’s really getting to me.
TLDR: My ex (who is also my roommate) is seeing a new person who very suspiciously blocked me and looks uncomfortably similar to me. They kick me out of our apartment every weekend, usually to my abusive parents’ house, and leave all the evidence of their fun romantic weekends out in the open for me to see. It feels like the new person is orchestrating all this and it makes it hard for me to live there.

Me and my boyfriend of four years made the difficult decision to break up earlier this year. It was a mutual, amicable decision and we remained great friends. We were each other’s only support through the pandemic, he stood by me through a very complicated gender identity journey, and he credits me with a lot of his personal growth. We realized we weren’t great as a couple but have continued a beautiful and supportive friendship with healthy boundaries. He is forever family to me and I proudly call him my best friend. I have a really strained relationship with my biological family and don’t feel safe in their home, so the plan was always for me to move in when I finished school. I still did, and we’ve been living together and coexisting well for a couple of months now.
After a while, we both got more comfortable talking about our respective dating lives with each other. We would tell each other funny stories, show each other who we matched with on dating apps, and even laugh when we matched with the same people. I really didn’t mind or ever feel jealous, and I don’t think he did either. One week while I was away, he let me know that he had somebody over and was telling me how it went. He showed me their Tinder profile, and it ended up being somebody I also matched and chatted with. I felt a little weird about it, since they had actually hung out and he seemed into them, so I didn’t pursue talking to them any further. It sounded like they had a fun night, he told me he was happy to have made a new friend, and I was truly very happy for him.

We have a new-to-us travel trailer. We housed it in a friends yard for two weeks b/c we have an HOA. We visited it to decorate several times, then we took it on a four day camping trip at a state park. We drove immediately from the state park to a covered RV storage facility. It’s been a week since we left it at the storage facility and we stopped by today in advance of our next trip. Today we found mouse droppings throughout the kitchen cabinets and drawers and in the shower. This is hard for us, because we spent quite a bit of time, scrubbing things down, sweeping and mopping before we left. We also took everything out of our refrigerator, mostly emptied the pantry, and took out all the trash. The mice were able to find one thing to eat in a flimsy package. We spent a few hours cleaning up mice droopings and wiping down everything.
Before we left the TT, we put down three sticky pads in various places, and we opened the top of a large citronella candle and placed it on the floor.
What else can we do to rid ourselves of these mice? What should we do in the future to prevent mice? Thanks so much.

2023.06.04 04:02 Milkshakemaker95 Capacitor replaced, not cooling again.
We live in PA and it’s been upper 80s-early90s all week. I noticed the vents weren’t blowing cold air & the house was warmer than thermostat set. I also noticed, the fan was running non stop. (I had temp inside set to 68) we tried replacing the filter (we do this often anyways) cleaning the unit itself off, taking apart the lines and blowing compressed air and trying to clear any clogs (there were none) & also replacing thermostat batteries, just incase. Got no where, and called in a repair man. He immediately & only replaced the capacitor. Worked beautifully for two days. Now, same thing. Warmer than usual air blowing and house has been 72 just about all day. When i got up this morning it was set at 68 & was 68, fan was off because obviously the temp was being met.. left and came back to the house being 72 and fan and warm air blowing, which hasn’t stopped? What would the next step be? Call him back and see if we have a refrigerant leak? Replace thermostat all together? Any advice appreciated. It was also 92 today, could it possibly be the thermostat was set too low for outside temp? Still doesn’t explain the warm air blowing (or does it)?
