When she had been required to help Asriel with his slipping marks, Chara had agreed to do so with mild annoyance. At first, she felt delighted that these sessions were shorter than what she had expected them to be, but then, as the pages flipped over, as the hours and days went on, the contradiction progressively dawned on her. If everything was so limpid to the young monster, could it be that he had simply been too lazy to open the textbooks on his own? It did not seem likely. I work in the repair department at a manufacturing company, and when our customers from abroad return their equipment to us for repairs, they occasionally choose to hire a freight forwarder to manage their shipment.

GTA Online is Rockstar's incredibly popular cash cow that has been keeping gamers busy since 2013. Although the game should be relatively mature at this stage in its life, it still has plenty of flaws, such as horrendous loading times. These loading time issues have annoyed countless players, and now one player has tracked down the root issue to improve performance.
GTA V fan T0ST recently picked up GTA Online again to finish some new heists that have come out since he last played, but he was "shocked (/s) to discover that it still loads just as slow as the day it was released 7 years ago." With some grit, determination, and perhaps even some spite, T0ST decided it was "time to get to the bottom of this."

In the process of digging into GTA Online, T0ST had to do due diligence and research to make sure no one else figured out the problem. Once it was established that no one had, he ran some benchmarks on his PC with an aging FX-8350 CPU, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 GPU, 16GB of DDR3, and a "cheap-o" Kingston SSD. Though these parts may be old, they should be plenty to get GTA Online off the ground in decent time, but that is not what happened. According to the data in the blog post, T0ST got into the story mode in approximately one minute and ten seconds, whereas it took nearly six minutes to get into online mode. After some polling, it appears that many other users are having the same issue . What could be happening here?

Using the task manager, T0ST found that his CPU was being eaten for around four minutes during GTA Online's load process. Perhaps it was just a bottleneck happening on his CPU alone, but that would not make much sense. To track down the issue, T0ST went to dump the running processes' stack, showing where the offending process is happening in RAM. This information, acquired through Luke Stackwalker, gave T0ST a place to look for whatever was causing issues.

After falling down the rabbit hole of trying to track down where the memory pointed, it all started to come together through assembly code reading and obfuscation. Evidently, when loading into GTA Online, a whopping 10MB worth of JSON is being parsed. It seems that it is data for something called "net shop catalog," which is likely just all the things purchasable in GTA Online using in-game currency.

Why this parsing takes so long is due to a function used called sscanf, which, in this instance, can be loosely equated to reading Romeo and Juliet by reading one word, then rereading the play, and then jumping back to the next word in the play. Furthermore, there is another bad programming issue just beside sscanf, which goes through the entire list of JSON entries in an array, one by one, and checks to see if there are duplicates by comparing a unique ID assigned to each item called a hash. Ultimately, it is a lot of extra and unnecessary work that slows down everything.
To solve this issue, T0ST decided to write a .dll (Dynamic Linked Library) and inject it into GTA so that sscanf is effectively streamlined. Also, rather than running duplication checks, they can just be skipped as items inserted into the storage array will always be unique, as was set up during the parsing effort. Once T0ST injected the DLL into GTA with both issues fixed, he saw his load times go from around six minutes down to a solid approximate two minutes.
As T0ST explains, this "won't solve everyone's load times - there might be other bottlenecks on different systems, but it's such a gaping hole that I have no idea how R* has missed it all these years." Ultimately, Rockstar needs to dig into this issue to save all GTA Online players headaches during loading. In any case, perhaps we will soon get an official statement from the development company, so keep an eye on HotHardware for updates.

One potential change I’m thinking of: drop 1 reaver and the weapons from the wracks to take a venom. Just to have another annoyance vehicle for tying things up and a little more durable than the reavers.

I received a job offer from a company that's contingent on passing a HireRight background check.
The company gave me a disclosure and authorization form to fill out with just my name, address, SSN, and signature.
I never got a HireRight invitation to enter any other information regarding my education or employment history. I never disclosed to the company my education or employment dates either, just my resume.
Today I received an email asking for a copy of my degree because my graduation date didn't match with "what was submitted" so I did just that to em email address ([email protected]).

This post might be a bit of a downer, and a long one, but please, bear with me.
Last monday completed one month that my dog, one of the biggest loves of my whole life, passed away due to heart and kidney issues. Her 9th birthday would be in April, about a month from now. Lola was the sweetest, most obedient, nicest dog I’ve ever known. She never misbehaved, always showered everyone with unconditional love, never complained when taking shots at the vet (a thing that became very frequent the last few years) and always took her meds like a champ. She was the joy of my life, and it’s been hard to adjust to a life without her barking at me, hiding under the table or going crazy for some lettuce (seriously). She was always, always cheerful, even at her worst days and I miss her like nothing else in my life.
In her honor, I decided to do a giveaway featuring two Pokemon that always remind me of her, Eevee and Rockruff, but I wanted it to be special. Random apriballs and a hidden ability wouldn’t be enough, so I decided to give meaning to all Pokemon aspects. I picked Friend, Love and Moon ball for the Pokemon, all inspired by her, and decided that all Pokemon should be females. I also chose seven natures that reminded me of Lola’s personality, one for each ball combo I wanted to use. Lastly, all Pokemon are nicknamed Lola after her. My idea is to spread dozens of tiny Lolas over the world, in hope that she brings her joy to more people.

I'm currently writing a story going over the entire events of the survival game as it took place in the 1st world. I've been doing a lot of research on the show's lore and asking questions/having discussions with other fans about this topic, and so far what I gathered is that in the 1st world:
- Yuno starts out much less crazy, and is even scared to kill others at first, leaning on Yuki for mutual support instead of taking the lead immediately from the start and doing all of the dirty work
- As a result, Yuki is much braver and willing to even take the lead much of the time (in the flashbacks to the 1st world, we see him confronting 9th in the courtyard with a gun and fighting Marco and Ai head on instead of Yuno)
- 4th finds out about his son's illness much alter and thus doesn't betray Yuki and Yuno, surviving much later into the survival game
This also leads me to infer these key points that will be central to my story:
- Yuki becomes serious about the survival game much sooner (at the latest, when 9th attacks him at school) instead of late in the game after the death of his father
- Yuki's love developed naturally for Yuno much earlier, as they worked together as equals to get through the survival game, and he did not see the bodies in her house
- Yuno's sanity is relatively stable throughout the first game (although not perfect, as she still went through accidentally killing her parents and developing an unhealthy obsession with Yuki as a result), but it breaks after she looses Yuki at the end of it, finally making her the Yuno we know and see in the show
I'd love to hear thoughts from anyone who might have input on this. Am I setting myself up well for a reasonably canonical story here? Are there any other key factors I should be considering? I see a ton of potential for a good story detailing the full events of the original survival game, the one we never got to see, and I also want to make sure that what I write is feasible in the world of Future Diary.

I am writing this post to share my story and seek support from those who understand the pain of being betrayed by an employer. I worked as an environmental engineer for a small company for over a year, and what started as a promising opportunity turned into a living nightmare.
This company had a total of 11 employees, where the junior engineers were all young females and the senior engineers were much older men. I was eager to learn and grow in my field, so I put in long hours and taught myself everything I could, as the senior engineers were unwilling to properly train me. Despite my hard work and dedication, I was met with constant negativity and discrimination.
I was made to feel guilty for taking my 5 vacation days, and was given a performance review where they demanded more from me without any clear explanation of what they wanted. One of the senior engineers belittled me and made sexist comments, and the company culture was toxic, with the senior engineers making racist Chinese remarks and even accusing me of having inappropriate relationships with field engineers.
The icing on the cake was when the CEO pushed me out a day before my last day. He berated me in front of everyone and demanded that I leave on the spot. He told me not to touch any of his property and to get out. I tried to clear the computer for them and all, but he wouldn't even let me do that.
However, even after quitting, the betrayal continued. My final paycheck was docked for not giving them the company laptop and iPhone password. The reason I didn't give the password was because my employment had ended, and I saw no reason to comply with their requests after the way I was treated.
I have contacted the Department of Labor, but I am still unsure of what to do. The thought of reliving this experience and fighting for what is rightfully mine is overwhelming, and I feel defeated and helpless.
I am reaching out to this community to inquire about what my next steps should be. Any advice or support would be greatly appreciated.

Just as the Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras have their roles and responsibilities, so too do the capitalists and the working class in the realm of economics. The historical context of this theory can be traced back to the Industrial Revolution, a time when the means of production underwent significant changes. This period saw a shift from agrarian societies to industrialized ones, where factories and machines became the primary sources of wealth and power. The owners of these means of production, the capitalists, amassed great fortunes, while the working class, who labored tirelessly in these factories, were left to live in poverty and despair.
Marx's Critical Theory aimed to analyze and critique the injustices and inequalities present in this capitalist society. He believed that the working class, or the proletariat, was being exploited by the capitalist class, or the bourgeoisie. According to him, the wealth generated by the proletariat's labor was appropriated by the bourgeoisie, resulting in a vast disparity in wealth and power between the two classes.

TL;DR: There was a change in BigQuery pricing models on both compute and storage. Compute price has gone up and the storage price potentially goes down with these changes. These changes go into effect on July 5, 2023. See links below for non-TL;DR version.
I am a BigQuery subject matter expert (SME) at DoiT International and authored one of these articles which we launched this morning along with the announcements. We have worked with the new billing models and documented them heavily along with discussions with the BQ product team to ensure accuracy.
Knowing the insanity, impact, and confusion this will have on many GCP customers we wanted to share with the community the full account of what changed today on both compute and storage. When I started this my head felt like it was going to explode from trying to understand what was going on here and since there is a tight deadline for these changes going into effect (July 5th, 2023) there isn't the luxury of time to spend weeks learning this, hence these were created.
Note that many posts and articles are just quoting price increases on the compute side without showing the inverse on the storage side. Both of these need to be taken into account because looking at just one is definitely not telling you the whole story on your future BQ costs.

Hi,
When I started at the company I work at a coworker and I became somewhat close (as close as you can be remotely) and was unbelievably helpful in getting me comfortable. She eventually left a couple years ago and we’ve spoken a couple times since.
I learnt yesterday that she had gotten into a serious car accident from my current and her former boss. I was told I should reach out over text or an email and I agree. I’m poor with knowing what to write in these kinds of situations and would appreciate any kind of advice.
I took a shot at writing something and I’m already starting to freeze up and am unsure whether this is appropriate:
