2023.06.04 01:14 prologicmultiv Are my headaches, eye and ear pains caused by allergies?
Hi, i’m a 22F and over the last month i’ve been dealing with some pretty bad headaches, stabbing eye pains and most recently, migraine headaches and ear pains.
Originally i thought the head pain was from a dental infection. i broke a tooth last year and got an implant, my dentist and doctor told me the infection was in my nerve giving me neuralgia pains in my face and head. They did ease up after my course of antibiotics, and several ER visits. They just gave me pain killers until my dental appointment (first appointment was a no go, they couldn’t freeze me because the infection was too bad). I got i fixed last week.
I’m now dealing with other pains, migraine headaches behind my left ear, temples and top of my head. I’m also getting sharp pains in my eyes (especially when i’m outside but they also come out of no where) i’m also dealing with a lot of pressure, and some sharp pains in my ears aswell. After another ER visit they told me i had sinusitis. I’ve been taking a nasal spray (flonase) an antibiotic (azithromycin) and naproxen. The pain did get a lot worse and i ended up in the ER again days later with terrible migraines and nausea. They did a CT which was clear, and blood work that was also clean.
I have already made an appointment with my doctor which isn’t for another 3 days and i intend on getting a referral for an allergist. I’m just wondering if the migraines, ear pain and eye pains could be allergies? I want to be prepared. I also have severe anxiety and every time they pain starts i start to panic and imagine the worst. I’m working on it with my therapist, but i just want to know if anyone else has these issues.
I live in Ontario, Canada. The headaches have been going on since March (it’s early June now) and i have never experienced allergies before now. I’m aware that the pollen is a lot worse this year according to the news and medical articles i’ve been reading. Any response appreciated.

2023.06.03 11:46 EERMA If you’re wondering whether adverse childhood experiences are negatively impacting you as an adult, you probably already know the answer.
In my work as a hypnotherapist most of my clients are mature adults experiencing issues rooted in anger, anxiety, depression - or a mixture of these. Often, they are wondering if their present issues are linked to their childhood experiences. More often than not, the answer is yes.
Research carried out since the end of the last century has led to a greater understanding of how adverse childhood experiences impact on long term wellbeing – both physical and psychological. The key findings are:
• Childhood trauma is very common: even in so-called well-to-do areas.
• There is a direct link between childhood trauma and chronic disease in adulthood.
• The more types of trauma a child experiences, the greater the risk of them of experiencing social and emotional problems as adults.
• Those who experience childhood trauma often experience more than one type of trauma.
You can calculate your own ACEs score by responding to the following questions. Give yourself 1 point for each question where you experienced that category of trauma before your eighteenth birthday.
- Emotional abuse: Did a parent or other adult often or very often insult, demean, belittle, humiliate, verbally assault, or threaten to physically assault You?
- Physical abuse: Did a parent or other adult often or very often grab, slap, push, or hit You?
- Sexual abuse: Did a parent, adult, or someone at least five years older than you ever touch your body in a sexual way or attempt or have oral, anal, or vaginal intercourse with You?
- Emotional neglect: Did You often or very often feel that no one in your family loved you or thought you were important; or your family did not look out for each other, feel close to each other, and support each other?
- Physical neglect: Did You often not have enough to eat, had to wear dirty clothes, had no one to attend to your medical and dental needs, or had no one to protect you?
- Loss of parent: Were your parents separated or divorced, or did you lose a parent for any reason?
- Domestic violence: Did You often or very often witness or hear violence between your parents or other adults where someone was being grabbed, shoved, slapped, hit, kicked, had something thrown a them, sexually attacked, or threatened with a weapon?
- Family member with addiction: Did You live with anyone who was a problem drinker or alcoholic, who used illicit drugs, or who was addicted to any other substances?
- Family member with depression/mental illness: Did you live with anyone who was depressed or mentally ill, attempted or committed self-harm and/or suicide, or hospitalized for mental illness?
- Family member incarcerated: Did you live with anyone who went to prison?
ACES Score (0-10) =
As ACE scores increase, so does the risk of disease, social and emotional problems. With an ACE score of four or more, things start getting serious. While studies in different locations return slightly different results, the figures suggest around 11% of the population have experienced four or more adverse childhood experiences.
Fortunately, brains and lives are somewhat plastic. Resilience research shows that the appropriate integration of resilience factors — such as asking for help, developing trusting relationships, forming a positive attitude, listening to feelings — can help people improve their lives. Research in to post traumatic growth has identified five broad areas of growth:
• greater appreciation of life,
• closer relationships with others,
• increased personal strength,
• new possibilities in life, and
• spiritual “development
Which correlate very closely with the dimensions of wellbeing psychology:
• Positive emotions
• Positive engagement
• Positive relationships
• Positive meaning
• Positive accomplishments
• Positive health

2023.06.03 05:17 flashbang10 Advice needed - acute attack? Back from ER.
I have a history of bad headaches/migraine, but never before like this week. It’s been 5 days now of constant mid grade headache with visual aura, eye soreness/blur, temporarily going black/seeing stars when I stand up, and pulse whooshing in my ears. I woke up in a panic last night thinking maybe I was having a stroke or hypertensive event, it was so bad and new to my experience.
I broke today and saw my PCP - who sent me straight to ER. ER ran the cardio diagnostic gamut, CT scan, extensive bloodwork - all normal. They gave me IV Reglan, Rx for Compazine, neuro referral. I think the Reglan barely touched the pain, and mostly just made me feel weirdly anxious and restless.
I still feel the same - going crazy, can't look at screens at all and stuck. Lining up new appts to make sure it’s not my eyes or dental related. Any similar experiences or advice would be much appreciated!

2023.06.02 04:01 LemonBerry365 Never posted my symptoms
Hello all, I never posted my symptoms I dont think and would love some insight or advice. Ill try to get it short. This all started in 2021. Feb-april randomly got symptoms of, Tingling starting in feet working its way up my body, getting hot like on the inside, feeling faint, a wave like dizzy feeling, heart racing, legs shaking, palms sweaty and flushed afterwards. They did not last long at all. Then I developed 2m later racing heart and sweating on top of Pppd and bp spikes and only in the docs office. Minus the PPPD the other symptoms resolved.
I had intense PPPD for a while and still do some days now. Id have weird headaches and wave feelings of im describing them right.
Fast fwd to march-may of the year and Bam i get hit with weird symptoms again. Tingling in face and tongue, weird taste, pit in stomach, wave like feeling that is quick and intense in head, then heart racing and legs shaking and I get so scared. Then again in the docs 2 times Bp spikes, heart racing and sweaty!! Pcp and Therapist both think these are not anxiety related but that I did develop anxiety due to the unknown of what is going on.
Sat I had an "episode" just chillen in the car(i wasnt driving), i felt super funny for a second, then bam tingling/numbness in mouth, weird taste and it was over within seconds. My husband says I freeze for a second like im buffering. Then monday i was laying down talking to a friend on the phone and my legs felt super hot on the inside for a few seconds and it went away. They almost make me feel like im gonna faint but never do!
Normal MRI and Ct scan Normal vit/mineral blood work Normal EEG 2 echos were normal Ep study- couldnt get me into SVT Loop Recorder- no arythmia but picks up when i go into tachycardia No covid that i know of and no vaxx TTT not set up until oct Ive heard SVT which nothing concrete shows up, possibly dysautonomia/pots, maybe focal Siezures, its all anxiety, and you're a mystery.
Im scared and get major anxiety now with any procedures i have to have done. I even canceled dental a few times and eye appointment bc I dont wanna feel the symptoms 🤦♀️ all of this came after these epsiodes started!!

2023.06.02 00:21 _newbie2003 Advice needed for legal action for malpractice
Last year, I found myself in a difficult situation when my dental insurance ran out. However, I received a email from my dentist's office about a free sedation camp last year 2022, offering treatments such as tooth extraction and fillings. The camp involved interns who would gain certification upon completion.
It was at my dentist's place, so I was attended to by one of the interns. I needed a filling for my tooth number 30 MOD, and the intern performed the procedure while I was under anesthesia. Unfortunately, I couldn't assess the quality of the treatment at that time.
Same 2022 year, After a couple of days, I started experiencing persistent pain in my tooth number 30 MOD. Concerned, I visited my regular dentist at the same practice, who took an X-ray and discovered that the nerve had been disturbed during the treatment due to the presence of a deep cavity. My dentist recommended a root canal and prescribed a combination of ibuprofen 800 and Tylenol. Thankfully, the pain subsided, and everything seemed fine for about six months.
However, just recently 2023 (Today), I began experiencing severe pain in the same tooth again. I promptly visited my dentist, who conducted a CT scan. The scan revealed that the nerve had died, indicated by a black area at the root bottom, and a crack was visible on the side of the tooth (resembling a black hairline). Regrettably, my dentist informed me that the tooth cannot be repaired at this stage.
To address the issue, my dentist presented a treatment plan consisting of extraction, bone graft ridge, implant, and cap, amounting to approximately $5000. Unfortunately, I am unable to afford such a significant expense.
Considering the initial mishandling of my case by the interns, which resulted in the current situation, I believe there may have been malpractice involved. If the interns had informed me that the cavity was deep and couldn't be filled, I would have opted for a root canal and saved the tooth. Now, I am faced with the unfortunate prospect of losing my tooth, which is distressing. Consequently, I am contemplating taking legal action against the responsible parties for malpractice.
In light of this situation, I would appreciate any advice or suggestions regarding my options.

2023.06.01 10:37 RainViewerCreator Tropical Cyclone Freddy is a powerful storm that formed in the Indian Ocean and affected Southern Africa multiple times.
| Ranked as a Category 5 storm according to the Saffir-Simpson scale during its first landfall, Freddy became the longest cyclone ever observed in the world. The first time it hit the south of Mozambique was on February 24, 2023, when 1.5 million people suffered from its consequences. On March 11 it returned, affecting the northern regions of the country and then moving to southern Malawi. Freddy caused significant damage to the coastal communities of Mozambique and Malawi, including the destruction of homes, buildings, and infrastructure. The tropical storm also resulted in widespread flooding, which can lead to long-term impacts on the affected communities. According to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology and the US Joint Typhoon Warning Center, the storm formed on February 6, 2023, in the Indian Ocean northwest of the Australian coast. It began to move west, and the wind force reached 167 mph (270 km/h) at its epicenter. On March 7, it broke the record for the longest-lasting cyclone since weather records began, according to the World Meteorological Organization. By March 11, the storm had already been on the move for 34 days. The previous record holder, John, raged for 31 days in 1994, crossing the Pacific. Freddy also crossed an ocean and thus gained strength. From its birthplace near Australia, it went from east to west across the entire South Indian Ocean toward Africa. In total, Freddy traveled about 5,000 miles (more than 8,000 kilometers). Via Mauritius and La Réunion, the storm finally hit Madagascar on February 21 and Mozambique on February 24. See what Freddy looked like on RainViewer’s radar animation as of March 5-7. (attached) Tropical Cyclone Freddy on the RainViewer map (March 5-7) In addition to its longevity, Freddy also broke the record in the accumulated cyclone energy (ACE) index - 84.7. It is a metric that weather agencies use to represent the total energy that a tropical cyclone discharges over its duration. So now, as of 2023, Freddy appears to be the most energetic storm on the planet. The previous record holder was Hurricane Ioke in 2006, with an ACE index of 82. Finally, Freddy’s got the highest number of rapid intensification cycles as compared to other tropical cyclones - 7. 2023.06.01 06:20 TulipsinGarden PASSED INBDE 17/19 MAY
Hi everyone!
I just wanted to share my two cents on the exam. I just got my result today and so grateful! This group helped me a lot while I was preparing for it so I wanted a chance to be able to help back a little. Just as a background, I am currently enrolled in a MS Oral Biology program at UIC. I am a recent grad but a foreign trained dentist from Pakistan. I am also currently working as a Dental Assistant part time and prepared for INBDE for around 4 months. I was and still am supremely busy but I scheduled an appointment and stuck to it, had faith in my skills and my prayers.
I got 3 month subscription of boot-camp, went through mental dental videos and used booster notes along with it. I went through all videos of pharmacology, operative , ethics, medicine , endodontics and pathology. And for the rest fields of dentistry I mostly relied on booster notes. I also made a lot of notes for myself. I did use ADA ethic notes as well and I used RQ files to review a few days before my exam.
I went through as many questions as possible on bootcamp, and I always tried to understand the explanation of whatever question I attempted wrong instead of skimming through. I also got someone’s booster subscription after reading a lot of posts here for a few days (14 days) but I honestly felt the questions were hard and they made me much more anxious/nervous about the exam so I decided not to use it.
Honestly, I feel like I did a lot of silly mistakes in the exam itself as well, there were a lot of tough sections that I got confused in but at the end it was mostly how to be calm, have firm control on your nerves and think through with logic and your knowledge. I truly think if I can do it, anyone can! I wish everyone a lot of luck going forward and I hope you guys ace it. 🌸
