salam alaykum friends, this is gonna be a long one so strap in and thank you for reading š¤
(also any questions i ask are meant to be very innocuous, i do not want to seem like i am judging anyone or anything as i have so much respect for islam growing up around it and am hoping to reconnect)
i was born into a muslim family (well⦠more like half muslim but thatās a whole story basically iām mixed) and have always been one of a more open and inquisitive mind than others in my family. i mean this with no critique of their thought processes and in fact i wish i could think more like them at times as they seem to find comfort in their religion)
as many middle and high schoolers as well as people who go through college, i began to question whether or not i subscribed to any religion at all, for me the possibilities of the universe are infinite (which is a concept none of us can even truly understand since we are finite beings but i digress). but recently as someone who has been out of a heavily structured environment for some time now iāve taken a step back and wanted to see if connecting with the side of my culture my religion came from (palestinian) could also potentially mean reconnecting with my religion.
for just a teeeeeeny bit more background iām first born in america on the side where my religion came from
enough backstory, time for the meat:
as someone who was raised muslim but in a way that was so weirdly gatekept (long story) that i never really learned as much as i wish i had; and i never understood many things and why they are seen as necessities in the religion, and wonder why as times move on why certain aspects of religion do notā¦
1) drinking/smoking weed/drugs: yes i know it impairs judgement and in cases where itās medical that is fine (i mean this more for weed/drugs than alcohol lol) but iāve always wondered why itās so widely frowned upon in the recreational sense especially in amounts that arenāt over the top
2) sex before marriage: the concept of virginity is made up because i know muslim men who have never been shamed for it yet the women in my family have been nearly cast out simply cause their hymen (if they even had one!!!) tore
3) tattoos: iām an artsy fart with a heck of a lot of piercings yet my muslim parent argued on the topic intensely after meeting with a sheikh (my parent themself has tattoos)
if i can think of more i will but this is the big three for me right now š
[also been seeing lots of ignorant people saying that islam doesnāt accept LGBTQ+ people and as someone with a family who is all very religious, they not only accepted my queer and trans heart but continue to support me all they can, happy pride habibis and habibtis (my arabic isnāt great and i know itās a gendered language but for my nb friends: happy pride habeebs is i think what some people are going for) š³ļøāšš³ļøāā§ļøš¤

As the title suggests, i am looking at getting a AWD /4WD car. specifically a 4 runner (4WD) or Highlander (AWD). I live in Iowa, so winters can be brutal, wonāt be doing any off-roading , mostly highway miles. I am worried if i get the 4runner, that i will have to switch it to 4H every time i turn on a city street, as opposed to having full time AWD in the highlander. seems like a hassle. what are your thoughts?

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) Online Free
Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklynās full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters the Spider Society, a team of Spider-People charged with protecting the Multiverseās very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must set out on his own to save those he loves most. Anyone can wear the mask ā itās how you wear it that makes you a hero.
After a grueling five-year-long wait, Marvel fans everywhere will finally be able to return to the animated multiverse with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The upcoming sequel's predecessor requires no explanation, as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse not only ensnared audiences and critics alike but also caught a prestigious Oscar win with a Best Animated Feature award. With "New York's one and only Spider-Man," Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), now becoming a household name, fans of the first film eagerly awaited the day they could see young Miles swing into the Spider-Verse again.
Thankfully, the wait is almost finally over, as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will return to screens soon. This time Miles will not only be reunited with Gwen Stacey (Hailee Steinfeld) and Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) but he'll also be introduced to an entire multiversal society of Spider-people created and led by a particularly pessimistic variant of Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac). Though some of the other variants in this secretive organization view Miles as a nuisance more than anything else, they'll have to learn to put those apprehensions aside if they hope to save the multiverse from an all-new terrifying threat. How to Watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
There's been no official announcement regarding Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's streaming release date, though we know it will eventually be released on Netflix, rather than Disney+ or HBO Max.
In terms of which of the streaming giants Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be released on, Netflix will house the film upon its streaming debut. While again, Sony does not have its own dedicated streaming service, a deal was struck in 2021 between the studio and Netflix. The deal, stating that Netflix would stream Sony's films after theatrical release, was penned for 5 years meaning Across the Spider-Verse is part of the arrangement.
While Sony's Spider-Man content is also streaming on Disney+, due to the collaborations between Sony and Marvel Studios in recent years, Across the Spider-Verse will be a Netflix release. While the deal struck between Marvel Studios and Sony may extend to this film, Disney+ is only allowed to begin streaming Sony's Spider-Man releases upon their release on Netflix. As a result, Netflix will be the first streaming service that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be available on after its theatrical release.
Because itās airing on FX, you can of course fire up Into the Spider-Verse via FX Now. But in addition, the animated flick is streaming on both fubo (which offers a free trial and has cord-cutting plans starting at $74.99/month; sign up here) and DirecTV (which also offers a free trial and has cord-cutting plans starting at $64.99/month.
Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in Theaters?
Not only was Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse the subject of rave reviews, but it also pulled in some gargantuan levels of cash at the international box office, with a final tally that quadrupled the film's ninety-million dollar budget. With incredible success like that, it's only natural that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse would also be taking advantage of a theatrical release. That is the case, as the upcoming film will be exclusively available in theaters when it premieres on June 2nd, 2023.
When Will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Be on Streaming?
The Spider-Man franchise is in a pretty interesting place regarding streaming. The various films of Sony's franchise have typically been scattered across multiple services. That said, following a historic deal between Sony and Disney, the many stories of Peter Parker and beyond are now available on Disney+. This includes the original Sam Raimi trilogy, the first Amazing Spider-Man film, and, starting mid-May, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Venom. Notably absent from the Disney-streaming platform so far are The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Morbius, and most significant of all, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Some of the films are not currently available on the service because Sony has pre-existing partnerships with Starz, as that's where most of the absent films are available to stream. That is except for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which is instead only streaming on Fubo TV and FX Now.
If Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse comes to Disney+ before Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's theatrical run concludes, that would make the House of Mouse's service a likely contender for a streaming release. However, Sony has also historically partnered with Netflix for streaming releases. Up until recently, that's where Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was available to stream, and Sony still brings their other big releases to the service, like Bullet Train and The Woman King.
When will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse be streaming on Netflix?
Sony Animationās big new Spider-Man movie is about to hit theaters and will be headed to Netflix (at least in the United States) later this year. For a prediction as to when and a bit more about the new movie, hereās what you need to know.
As we covered in 2021, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be headed to Netflix as the service gets both Sonyās animation and live-action content via a first window deal struck in April 2021.
The deal stipulates that all Sony theatrical movies come to Netflix in the first window, which at a minimum, is 120 days after its theatrical release date. If it arrives exactly 120 days after, itāll be streaming from September 30th, 2023.
With that said, given how big this movie is, we may see it release a few weeks after the fact. Either way, we expect the movie to be available between late September and November 2023.
Will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Be Streaming On Netflix?
Yes, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is coming to Netflix approximately in December 2023.
In 2021, Sony and Netflix signed a five-year deal that gave the latter exclusive first-pay-window U.S. streaming rights for Sony Pictures titles after their theatrical and home entertainment windows. Fans can expect to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Netflix six months after the filmās theatrical release, thus in December 2023. The date seems reasonable considering that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse dropped on Netflix on June 26, 2019, six months after its U.S. release on December 14, 2018. The pay-one window usually begins about nine months after a filmās theatrical release, but it might start earlier in particular cases.
Will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Be On HBO Max?
No, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will not be on HBO Max since itās not a Universal Pictures movie. Last year, the company released its films in theaters and on the streamer on the same day. However, they now allow a 45-day window between the theatrical release and the streaming release.
Will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Be Streaming On Disney+?
Yes, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is also coming to Disney Plus approximately in 2025.
Once the pay-one window runs its time and Netflixās exclusive rights expire, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be available on Disney Plus. The pay-one window might last as long as 18 months, which means it will be a while before Disney Plus subscribers can watch the much-anticipated sequel. Unlike in other countries, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse isnāt yet available on the Disney-owned streamer in the U.S.
American fans will have to wait until 2024 to watch Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and at least until 2025 for its sequel. We will update this post once there is an official Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Disney Plus release date.
Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Available On Hulu?
Viewers are saying that they want to view the new Marvel's animation movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Hulu. Unfortunately, this is not possible since Hulu currently does not offer any of the free episodes of this series streaming at this time. It will be exclusive to the MTV channel, which you get by subscribing to cable or satellite TV services. You will not be able to watch it on Hulu or any other free streaming service.

When Will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Be on DVD and Blu-ray?
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will likely be coming to DVD and Blu-ray around the same time as the streaming release. With theatrical films, on average, coming to streaming sooner than ever (usually ninety days after theatrical release), we'll likely see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse get a DVD, and Blu-ray release no later than Fall 2023.

What is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse About?
Returning with many of your favorite characters, including Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman, Peter B. ParkeSpider-Man, and of course Miles Morales as our primary Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set one year after the events of the previous film. Miles (Shameik Moore) is coming into his own as Spider-Man when he is unexpectedly approached by Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) with an extraordinary opportunity. Does Miles want to help a team of Spider-People, led by Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac) protect the multiverse from the terrifying threat of a man known as The Spot (Jason Schwartzman)?
Obviously, Miles is going to say yes, setting him up for an adventure that will expand this movieās concept of the multiverse in every possible way. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse promises tons of new characters and worlds, without losing sight of what people have come to love about this particular Spider-franchise.
Miles Morales has become a massively popular Spider-Man, and you can be certain heāll be at the center of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verseās chaotic blend of action, comedy, comic book aesthetics, and large-scale science fiction. It seems more likely than not that Across the Spider-Verse will be the biggest animated release of 2023.

2023.06.04 06:58 Practical-Rope2526 Help: Severe religious/existential OCD and despair
Hi, I am in midst of crisis on going about 3 months with OCD and I am the lowest point o my life. I can't find joy in anything, life honestly doesn't make sense for me, I am hopeless and completely dysfunctional. I need help, so writing here is a last resort.
Just a bit of context, I am 21M studying in college ( physics ). I've battled with OCD for 3 years, but right now it's the worst i've ever been. I've had Pure O, contamination OCD which ruined my 1st year of college and my grades, which were good in the beginning. I am in my 2nd year now, and again at the start of this year everything was going great, I was getting the grades I was aiming for, I was beginning gainning self-confidence in my academic abilities ( I think I've had pure O thoughts concerning this also) but it all went downhill again, it started with OCD about counting calories and it's now the worst theme I've ever had, Existential/Religious OCD ( although I know when we're stuck in a particular theme it always seem the worst at the moment).
I was already doing therapy before college however it really didn't work as it was a form of CBT but without ERP ( kinda like socratic dialogue in albert ellis style, which worsened my symptoms in some part). During the final 1st year of college I went to my present therapist, we began doing ERP together with ACT, which worked great for me. However, ACT has philosophical basis or similarities with eastern religions, and after I read some spiritual books recommendations that my therapist gave me in order to help me I began researching obsessively about this topic. I'd been exposed to eastern religions before, particulary buddhism. I was meditation a lot, realizing about metaphysical doctrines as sunyata (emptiness), anattã, personal ego, dukkha and samsara, but this time was not moved by curiosity/intereset but by anxiety/worry. I began reading all the main suttas of buddhism as well researching in buddhismstackexchange, every single day for hours, I was even loosing sleep.
I quickly tried to rationalize ways of proving ways of why buddhism couldn't have the ultimate truth because of logical/doctrinal inconsisties: the myth of creation in the aganna sutta, the misogny present in sectarian buddhism, the fact that buddhism as an intentional system of ethics whilst also believing in a kind of deontological moral theory given by karma/rebirth, the fact that rebirth was something born out of the human desire to atribute make sense of life ( missfortune or good fortune are based on past karma etc.), however then a conter thought appeared "what if this is actually true and you're wasting your life studying while you could be preceving absolute truth", or the scholars opinions about texts like the aganna and other suttas being later addictions rather than buddha's own doctrine. I've also read about Refrational frame theory, skinner, the historical development of ACT, academic papers of Steven Hayes, some relating buddhism and ACT. The problem is, while ACT hasn't been explicitly developed based on buddhism ( it was on based on radical behavourism and some work of Aaron T Beck, initially) it is a 3rd wave cognitive behavioural theory movement which began with it's roots in buddhism, namely MBSR and gestalt. Because all of this, added to the fact that I attached myself to buddhism in the past, as belief system ( OCD wasn't getting better with CBT therapy so in order to survive I told myself buddhism has all the answers I need, and meditation really worked for me), I developed severe scrupulosity, fear of going to hell, of not following dharmma etc.
Added to this is the fact that I genuinely think buddhism has a robust philosophy, the 4 nobles truths, dukkha, the unstatisfactorianess of life, the boredom and repetition inherently present in the human condition, and also I myself have found utility in it's framework of understanding and training my mind, I think I've developed strong cognitive bias added to the OCD. It's driving me crazy, to the point I dont know what I actually believe anymore or what is OCD distorted thoughts, it's eating me alive. My biggest fear is "what if buddhism is true", then what I am doing right now is actually useless because it would not lead to nirvana, cessation of becoming, this perpetual cyle of life/death. I can't study because I am constantly having panic attacks about this possibility, I loose sleep and I am completly depressed by this, because whether people admit it or not buddhism core philosophy is really pessimistic, as it basically defends the meaning of life is to cessate further life (nirvana).
I've talked to my therapist about this, but he did not give me any reassurance ( as he should) and quickly dismissed my premisses, however I've just thought " he really doenst understand buddhism as well as I do" so he wouldn't know any better. This question is eating me alive, because I've this thought in the back of my mind " You know buddhism is true and you're just making excuses to not do the hard work, leaving pleasures and being an ascetic". I think OCD is kinda taking advantage of my personality trait of being extremely diligent ( to the point Idc how I feel as well I acomplish a higher goal) to harrass me, but its just a guess.
Please I need help, someone. I don't know how to deal with this, and buddhist scrupulosity is quite rare, as I didn't find any materials. Kind regards everyone.
PS: english is not my main idiom so sorry for any mistakes

2023.06.04 06:58 HeavenlySkip Why are Irish people so pale
Im an American with Irish ancestry. Iāve been pale as a ghost since birth. For the past few years Iāve been running outside nearly everyday, and Iām still as pale as the day I was born.
In college I found that people with Irish (or generally Celtic) last names were really pale compared to other white people.
Is this just due to small sample size, or is there a reason for Irish people being pale?

Hello, my name is Rod and I remember this strange dream-like video. It could've been one of my dreams, but I just wanted to make sure. If this helps anybody, I was born in 2009. The time-period this seemed like it was from like possibly 2016, because I remember being at least 6-7 years old. Maybe, I could've made it up but I'm not sure. But it was like a hospital room, and two kids. The father left to go somewhere it was like some weird hospital room in like a Walmart. There was a little girl, who had the name of my deadname, Rose. She had a sister Aswell in the room, but she was like coloring and telling her sister about her drawings and then she went on to say there was a lady in all white that climbed on her walls. I could've made this up because I was a creative child, but I remember it so well. It also had an old almost analog horror look too it.

Caution: Caution: Plant traffic ahead! Allow enough space between plants to avoid overcrowding. They need their personal space, just like we do on the dance floor.
Show your cauli-plants some love with proper ventilation. Keep the air circulating to prevent humidity-related issues like fungus and diseases. Fresh air equals happy cauliflower!
Keep your cauli-garden clean and tidy. Regularly check for dead leaves or pests that might crash the party. It's time to kick them out and keep the cauli-vibes strong!
Raise the stakes and support your plants. As they grow, provide sturdy support to keep them upright and prevent flopping. No cauli-drama allowed!
Be the water hero! Maintain a consistent water level in your hydroponic system, ensuring the roots are always moist but not waterlogged. It's all about finding the perfect hydration groove!
Time to cauli-harvest! Pick your cauliflower when the heads are firm and compact. Don't wait too long, or they might lose their charm. Enjoy the fruits (or florets) of your labor!
And last but not least, don't forget to give yourself a pat on the back for being a cauli-master! Growing cauliflower hydroponically is no small feat. Embrace the process, have fun, and celebrate your cauli-success!
So, are you ready to turn your hydroponic garden into a cauli-wonderland? Get those cauliflower seeds and let the hydroponic cauli-adventure begin! Remember, it's all about the cauli-flower power!
Share these tips with your fellow garden enthusiasts and let's spread the cauli-madness together!

2023.06.04 06:55 Alaq_99 Why the emphasis on Birth control
Before starting I want to ask men that
"In your opinion, what do you believe are the most important factors for men to consider when deciding whether or not to have children and take on the responsibilities of fatherhood?"
There are many things to start with but let's use the 4 main things regarding this topic.
- Short-term Authority
- Long-term Authority
- Short-term responsibility
- Long-term responsibility
So the story begins with a man fucking a woman, he has complete authority whether to impregnate or not. The authority is solid, and it's short term cause you know the process doesn't last long.... yeah very short-term.
So a short term solid authority to choose to impregnate is what a man has, but not the woman. Authority on.... Woman Responsibility on ... ManPoint #1 finished.
Then comes the long-term authority which is becoming a dad to the baby that's born, it is long term until the baby grows up to be an independent adult. Authority on ... ChildResponsibility of ... Man and womanPoint#2 finished.
Now comes the connections.
Short-term responsibility = Deciding whether you're responsibile enough to raise children and provide for the family as a whole the right way before impregnating the woman. Responsibility on ... man Point#3 finished
Long-term responsibility = Taking responsibility of the children and your wife making sure they're happy as to your full capacity. Point#4 finished Responsibility on ... man
Folks, now here comes the math, connecting the authority factor, we can see that man is obliged to be responsible on 2 cases = short and long term responsibility because primarily he has the short term authority where it all begins with.
The idea of birth control suggests that if you're not enough responsible to raise children the right way, it is best to take control of the short-term authority before impregnating the woman.
So here's the equation for men
Short term Authority = short and long term responsibility.

2023.06.04 06:50 darkpinkfairy Friends not even making the slightest effort to use pronouns or name :(
I came out officially about a year ago now and as of recent Iāve picked out a new name but Iām pretty shy and donāt really correct people or inform people too much. Ik ik I should but I donāt, but there are some people who definitely know like my roommates for instance !! Iāve told them multiple times about my name, they have heard people use my name, my pronouns⦠hell they even told me jokingly that I canāt celebrate pride because Iām in a heterosexual relationship and like technically Iām not because Iām non-binary and I say that and Iām sick of being deadnamed and Iām sick of him introducing me to people by my deadname and like idk man like why do do this to me? Itās annoying. Idk man Iām just at a loss. I donāt even have the courage to fully come out at work and tell everyone that my name is Sage and I thrown out here and there that Iām not binary but I donāt know I feel like people just donāt actually respect it. Iām just sad because I just want to be respected you know.

2023.06.04 06:49 jealousyM I don't love my brother like I'm supposed to
My brother is 1 year older than I am, he's 19, and I'm 18. Growing up I was always very jealous of him.. I never really let it be known and have always treated him as any brother should. There were times that I felt like I hated him, he's always been better in comparison in literally every way, if I was good at something, he was even better at it.. better with girls, taller, smarter, better looking, you name it. Combine that with him being the first born and boom, the fucking golden child. I wasn't given much attention growing up and my parents made it clear who their favorite was all the time.. my mother would never admit it, but my dad has explicitly said that he prefers my brother, but loves us equally (doubt).. I grew up to be very insecure because of this and I still, till this day feel a bit of resentment towards my brother.. which actually is not fair. He has been nothing but good to me.. acted as a big brother when I needed it, showed me a lot of what I know and has generally always been there for me. I've never let my jealousy be known to him, but in the past year I have gotten better at just being content with who I am.. I try to become fully content, but it just feels so impossible. I know that I don't hate my brother, but because of my upbringing.. I feel like I don't love him like I should, but I know that I want too. I almost feel that the love I have for him is similar to a strangers.. and he honestly deserves more than that. My parents just fucked me up real bad.. even extended family members made it clear that he was the favorite. I feel like I'll forever be in his shadow and subconsciously I blame him for the lack of love I never received.
Jealousy is a very evil thing.
