2023.06.01 02:41 Mikazah This week's grocery haul: I got paid $10 to take $99 worth of Pork, Pasta, Toothpaste, Cat Food, Pesto, Tooth Paste, and More!

Here are the goodies.

First haul in a while. Got a nice mix of things today.

Total: $98.78

Coupons: None!

Total Cash Back: $108.60

Final Cost: -$9.82 - Money Maker!

Photo of the haul.

Here is the complete break down and sites used. The stores are listed in the breakdown image. I don't include sites that take any receipt such as Coinout, ReceiptPal, etc on my breakdown. Brandclub takes a while to credit, so the amounts listed are what I expect to get once it finishes pending. FieldAgent is an app that pays you to do a variety of tasks, including the one I did here where I made a purchase, took a couple photos, and left a review about the cat food.
Note: Individual deals vary by user for most apps. If you don't have the deals right now, you can try checking back later.

My Guides
  1. All rebate apps/sites I use and/or know about
  2. How I do my hauls
  3. Beginners guide to using rebate apps/sites - for those who don't know where to start

If you aren't interested in this kind of thing, please keep your comments to yourself. If you don't like what I buy, you can buy different products. If you don't like hunting for deals, you can do surveys, microtasks, games or whatever else you like instead. There is no need to discourage other users just because you aren't interested in the same things!

Some additional deals:

Afterthoughts

Man, today was stressful. In part due to the fact that I ended up going during a particularly busy time (I was planning to go after a doc appointment, but that didn't happen), and the fact that our Wal-Mart has rearranged 2/3 of the store, some of which in weird ways (they put all of the wet cat food in reverse order) But mainly it was due to what happened on the way to the store. For those curious, I'll explain further down at the end of this section since it's not explicitly related to this haul, but a TL;DR - I fucking hate my Jeep.

So, the haul itself went relatively smoothly. It's been a while, so I was a bit out of my groove. I messed up a bit on the deals. I meant to get 2 Arm & Hammer toothpaste and 4 Knoppers, but I swapped those around. Whoops. I also accidently got 11 deals when I only needed 8. I had decided to relook over MyPoints and found some deals, and it didn't register that since there were also deals for them on Ibotta, I could remove other deals. This wouldn't have been an issue if I were to aim to finish my big bonus this weekend, but... I'm not sure if I will be able to now.
Not a huge fan of Fetch's new redemption screen. It's pretty, sure, but it's no longer intuitive which defeats the purpose. I liked the old one. I also don't like how the videos seem to get longer each time. I also forgot about MyPoint's limit of 10 items per receipt, but then I found out you can just scan the receipt a 2nd time to get the rest of the rebates. So, what's the point of the limit? Lol. I also noticed a lot of rebates got added to aisle this past month... but none of them are good. Everything near me is mostly BOGO or just a buck or two back. That'd be fine if I knew I liked the products, but most of this stuff is really expensive, and I don't want two of something that I don't know if I'll even like.
BrandClub seems to have made some major changes. They added Kroger! I don't have one near me, but I see people post amazing Kroger deals all the time. Also, if I'm seeing this right, purchase rewards don't seem to be going into a locked status anymore (unless you unlock another reward with your purchase). For example, my Barilla purchases from last month all immediately unlocked their own rewards. I have nothing in the locked status for them. I did not add this change to my spreadsheet since I'm not 100% sure right now, but that'd be awesome if it were true. I also noticed a few rewards for watching videos. Unfortunately, they require a purchase to unlock. On the not-so-good side, brands seem to have different percent rebates now. Some items don't give any rewards, such as the Arm & Hammer, and they won't register or unlock rewards either. I know that Arm & Hammer toothpaste is in the system. I've bought it before, and it's showing in the search, but since it has no reward, none of my locked rewards were unlocked.

Instacart also gave me another offer for $30 off my next two orders of $50. Didn't take a picture this time, but I got almost $50 worth of groceries for $16 (they were out of something, so my total went down). Still not sure how to get them to use my credits that I earned before. It said it applied in the checkout, but it didn't. I have until the 9th to use the 2nd one, so maybe I'll figure it out then.

Now for the rant - In case you didn't notice, it's been a month since my last post. The last time I was at the store there was an obviously very ill jerk who didn't comprehend the concept of personal space. I ended up horrendously sick for the better part of 3 weeks. Not covid, but it was nasty, so I took it upon myself to completely self isolate. Looks like this cough is here to stay for a while though. My car apparently also caught what I did since it didn't want to leave the house either. Towed it to the mechanic, where the issue magically disappeared, he fixed a few things, and he wanted me to run it the next few days to try to see if the issue comes back. Well, it sure did. Car broke down on my way to do this haul. On a highway. Around a wide bend (I could be seen in time... IF they were paying attention). Going up a hill. In a place where people blow through at 45-55+ mph without thinking. Yea, that wasn't fun. There were a few close calls (mostly by school busses...), but thankfully it got towed away without incident. I borrowed a car and did the haul since I really did need to get some stuff after going almost nowhere for the past month. I planned to do another haul this weekend to finish my big bonus but... that probably won't happen. I'm not sure when my next haul will be.

Time Spent

I totally forgot to keep track today, sorry. I generally plan my hauls over the course of an hour or two while I play with the cat and eat breakfast. I spent a total of about 1.5-2 hours driving to a couple stores, getting everything including my shopping items, picking up my Aldi order, then driving the car back to its owner.

Food From Deals

This past month I made Buttered pasta, stewed apples, and cinnamon ginger tea, Tomato Tortilla, High Protein Tomato Crackers, "Pizza" Sandwich, Pesto Steak with Jasmine Rice, Pizza Pocket, and Cherry Pancakes

Do you guys want me to continue showing things I've made using ingredients I got from rebate apps on these posts? Let me know in the comments, or you can vote on this poll if you want to remain anonymous.

2023.06.01 02:03 VegetableInvestment Suspicious pricing at Walmart?

I was just picking up some groceries at Walmart, and they had a sale on some meat. The sale was about $0.50 per pound off, so we were pretty excited, but when we got to the cash register, it scanned that the price was the same as before the sale. We started looking at the package thinking maybe that was already the sale price on the sticker, but realized that the poundage listed on the sticker was different than what it was reading on the computer. The weight difference was the exact amount so that with the discounted price per pound applied, it equaled EXACTLY the same price as before the sale. We got an employee over to the scanner, and they even weighed it, proving it wasn't the higher weight shown on the computer.
Anyone else encounter something like this? I wouldn't be suspicious if the prices weren't exactly, to the cent, the same.

2023.05.31 09:18 adpsy Counting app that read/print barcodes.

Hi, for my store we order stuff manually, from websites that can search products by barcode.
I want to read a products barcode, then I count how many product I see and type that in. When I'm done I need the program to print a list with all counted product's:
amount;
scannable barcode
(name, it would be nice if I could build a database like this barcode=name but it's not a must)
I'm open to any suggestion, I could do it by phone, barcode scanner, or I have a Symbol 3000 pda.
It can be a program an Android or iphone app, it really doesn't matter.
I'm also open to subreddit or website suggestions where should I look for this.
The main point is to print the listed 2 thing, and to be as simple as possible.
Thanks in advance :)

2023.05.31 06:53 Koodiddy What is this little guy?

What is this little guy?
Bought this plant at Walmart but it was one of a kind with no others left on the shelf. No tag, barcode or anything that I or the employees could fine so the cashier offered a deal of $8.97 for it and I took it! It caught my attention because it looked fake on the shelf in the garden section.

2023.05.30 19:07 AdTimely4605 Questions as a new picker

Last week was my first week working for Amazon as a picker and I just have a couple of questions. When do I mark an item as missing? I know I do if I have looked in the bin and the item isn’t in there but if I have multiple of the same item and none of them match the correct barcode do I mark that as missing or unscannable? What do I do if the handheld scanner isn’t working at my station? What do I do if I can’t pull an item out because it’s squeezed in real tight? Will I get a write up if I make any mistakes?

2023.05.30 11:11 SpookyGunzzz On site job

Hey, I’m new to this subreddit. I just have a question. I got hired by a local business. This building has a barcode scanner to get entry, but it’s a one-way door (you can leave without using the card). There are many flaws in their security, but I was curious if there was a barcode skimmer you could place on the scanner to get the information and clone your own barcode with it. Thank you all!

2023.05.29 15:16 itesonline Make Informed Business Decisions With Customized Data Processing Solutions

We live in a world of data. It can fuel almost everything in your business—from SEO to scalability, but only if you know how to harness its power. This is where data processing services come into the picture. It is the process of transforming raw humongous volumes of data into valuable information. Businesses across financial analysis to healthcare leverage data processing to make sense of the data. No doubt it has become an increasingly important aspect and a valuable tool for modern businesses looking to gain an edge in the industry.
Data Processing Cycle
Raw data is of no use to any business. It needs to be collected, cleansed, processed, analyzed, and presented in a readable format, making it fit for business consumption. By translating raw facts and figures into readable formats such as charts, graphs, and documents, employees can understand and use this data to propel growth—and this is what data processing does.
The process includes a series of steps where input in the form of raw data is converted into actionable insights using machines. The entire procedure is repeated in a cyclic manner and each step is taken in a specific order. The output of the first cycle can be saved and stored as well as fed as the input for the next data processing cycle.
Step 1: Collection
Data collection lays the foundation for the data processing cycle. The quality of raw data collected hugely impacts the output. Therefore, data should be collected from defined and verified sources to ensure that subsequent findings are valid and reliable. This includes user behavior, website cookies, monetary figures, profit/loss statements of a company, and so on.
Step 2: Preparation
As the name suggests, data is prepared in this stage. The raw data is sorted and filtered to eliminate inaccuracies, duplication, miscalculations, incomplete, or missing entries. It is then transformed into a suitable format for further processing and analysis.
The data cleansing/preparation step removes bad data (redundant, erroneous, or unnecessary data) to get high-quality information at easy disposal. This info can be further used in the best possible way for business intelligence. In short, the purpose of this step is to ensure that only the highest quality data enters the processing unit.
Step 3: Input
Raw data is translated into a machine-readable language, which is then fed into the processing unit. The input can be in the form of data entry through a keyboard, RFID tags through a barcode scanner, or any other input device.
Step 4: Processing
Here, raw data is processed using Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Artificial Intelligence algorithms to generate an output. Based on the source of data being processed, such as online databases, data lakes, connected devices, etc., this step may vary slightly from process to process as well as the intended use of the results.
Step 5: Output
The input is finally translated and displayed in a human-readable format such as pie charts, graphs, tables, audio, video, vector files, documents, etc. The results of this data processing cycle can be stored for further processing in the next cycle.
Step 6: Storage
As the last step of the data processing cycle, results from the previous steps are stored for future use. It not only facilitates quick transfer, access, and retrieval of information but also allows analysts to use this result as input for the next data processing cycle directly.
Types of Data Processing
Just as every business has unique requirements, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach that can be used to process data. Based on the source of data as well as the steps taken by the processing unit to generate an output, there are different types of data processing. Some of these are listed below:
Data Processing Applications
Data processing helps businesses to unlock their true potential, streamline workflows, enhance security, make data-based decisions, and maintain their competitive edge. Here are some important reasons why companies should lay special emphasis on high-quality data processing:
Wrapping Up
Data processing is the method of gathering and deciphering raw data into valuable information. Experienced data processing companies can help enterprises to collect, filter, sort, process, analyze, and present their most valuable digital asset into usable insights. Thus, businesses of B2B and B2C contexts can leverage these insights to create data-driven strategies and maintain a competitive edge.

2023.05.29 02:47 ZiolaBleu Vote With Your Wallet - Assistance Needed

I need developers and researchers to assist me in creating a website and application that will give the majority of the citizens in America the ability to truly vote with their wallet. I believe a lot of you are with me when I say, the indoctrination and ideologies being promoted and lobbied for by companies in this country has to stop. The only way we can effectively vote out this lunacy is to stop funding it.
The application we need is called GoWokeGoBroke and it should allow users to use a barcode scanner to scan items, the companies associated with the scanned item should receive a wokeness grade 1-10 with sources that support the grade. This application should be a community driven database that allows users to scan and request information if no data for the product is found.
It should also allow you to search for companies by name.
Maybe have it received two ratings, "Our Rating," and "Community Rating," so that if any action taken by the companies is yet to be recognized by our rating, can be visible by the community rating and comments.
This is the only true way that we can ensure that we are not buying products from companies that do not have our interests at heart.
If you are interested in brainstorming and working on such a project, join the discord, http://GoWokeGoBroke.live

2023.05.28 20:22 AnamorphicWeirdWill2 A breakdown on how the code for Dragon Balls Hunt is generated. (NOTE: Doesn't really serve any purpose aside from learning something cool.)

So, you may know that QRcodes store data (similar to barcodes but two-dimensional instead of one-dimensional), it can be links, webpages, plain text, images, hell even entire files.
For example, a wi-fi password can be converted into a QR. A smartphone can scan it and connect to the access point by decoding the QR into text again and use the password. This all happens automatically and you won't notice it.
In Legends' case, in order to generate the right QR codes the game needs some informations first, text which then gets converted into a QR so that you may share it with friends. When they scan the code it gets reconverted into that text info so that the game can check if it is valid. Most of the text code is actually already shown below the QR when you click "get code".
If you use a QR to text converter, and put in there the QR legends shows you, you will get the full text code which will look something like this: 4,xxxxxxxxYYYYYYYYYYY (of course it will have specific numbers and letters in place of x and Y for every code)
You may notice 3 distinct elements:
1) 4, <- this is some sort of identifier the game uses to define which game-modes can use the code, other in-game QR codes that are not related to DB Hunt should have a different identifier. It's the same for every single user and it's the only part that's not visible in the text code under your QR when you press "get code". The next 2 parts are.
2) xxxxxxxx <- a string of 8 lowercase letters or numbers (sometimes letters only, sometimes a mix) which is YOUR "friend code". You can send friend requests if you know other people's friend codes.
Naturally, this second part is different for every user but the same for every code generated by a specific user, since it's just your friend code.
The third part is never the same for any generated code:
3) YYYYYYYYYYY <- a string of 11 capital letters (only) which is the complicated part. It basically contains the data about the exact time when the code was generated, down to the millisecond. The main function is that the game checks if the code is too old, if that's the case it will give you a "code expired" message. How do those apparently random letters give any indication about time? We will get there.
For part 3) developers chose to use letters ranging from B to T, but also excluding letters "I", "L" and "O". No particolar reason to not use those specific letters, but if you do the math it means there are 16 letters left. Every space will contain one of those 16 letters. You may notice that the more you look to the right of the text code, the more quickly they change when you generate a new code. You will understand why soon.
Everyone of these 16 letters actually corresponds to a number, ranging from 0 to 15 (so 16 possible numbers in total including the 0). The decimal system uses symbols (numbers) which, of course, range from 0 to 9. However the hexadecimal system, which is very common in software developing and system designing because of how well they "get along" with the binary system, uses 16 different symbols, ranging from 0 to F, with letters from A to F replacing numbers from 10 to 15. You can read more by googling it, otherwise this post would never end and it's already long enough. The takeaway is, if you sort the available letters and give to each their respective "number" you will get something like this:
B=0 C=1 D=2 E=3 F=4 G=5 H=6 J=7 K=8 M=9 N=A (corresponds to 10 in the decimal system) P=B (corresponds to 11 in the decimal system) Q=C (12 you get the point...) R=D (13) S=E (14) T=F (15)
So if your part 3) of the code is CKKHEFFBNCB, using the conversion table above you get 18863440A10. Now this is a proper hexadecimal number. If you go to an online converter you can get the decimal number which will be 1685292583440. This, again, may appear completely random but it's actually a very specific way of indicating time: the so called "epoch" or unix-time. This kind of timestamp is used in unix and unix-like operating systems (again, google it if you're curious). The important thing is that the "zero-time" for epoch corresponds to January 1st 1970 00:00:00 (GMT +00:00).
In very simple terms, unix time defines how many seconds have elapsed since the unix "zero-time". Note that the last 3 digits are actually milliseconds and are not always displayed in other applications. If you go to a unix-time converter and put that decimal number we got before, we get May 28th 2023 16:49:43.440 (GMT+00:00). So the game checks your phone time, corrects it for any time-zone discrepancies, and follows the reverse conversion process to generate that 11 capital letters part of the code, which gets embedded into the QR alongside the rest. When you scan it legends re-converts everything to read it and does its checks.
In theory, you could "cheat" the system and manually generate a code with a generation time set a few months into the future, following the entire procedure in reverse, generate the QR from the text you got and give the resulting QR code to Legends' scanner every single day without ever generating other codes (without even having to ask your friends every time). Unfortunately, legends devs weren't that stupid this time around. If the "code time" is set into the future, the game knows it couldn't possibly have generated it yet and gives you a "failed scan" message. In previous years we could, and the timestamp part of the code was even much easier to decode.
You can still manually generate codes outside of legends without asking friends, but you have to regenerate them everyday. It doesn't matter if there isn't the db legends icon on the QR, the game accepts it. There are a few guides which have been posted in this sub. This is useful:

2023.05.28 17:31 MrDrewMEN Google Wallet app not able to use camera

My Wallet app worked perfectly until a couple of days ago, when I noticed that it is unable to access the phone's camera if I try to scan a Qbarcode in order to add loyality cards. But in every other app, I can use the camera normally.
As showed in these screenshots, when I try to add a loyalty card using the scanner I get a black screen with no camera view at all; in the other pictures, you can see that I have already allowed the authorization for camera access for both Google Wallet and Google Play Services apps, since someone suggested in a Google Wallet support page that maybe that could be the problem.
My phone is a OnePlus 8T (but the problem affects also Samsung devices and even a Pixel, as someone pointed out on those support pages) updated to the latest OxygenOS 13.0 and security patches. I do not think it's a OnePlus releted problem, because this doesn't happen on my OnePlus Nord 2, same Google Wallet and Play Services version.
By the way, in OxygenOS 13 you got the graphic display of a green dot when an app is accessing your camera or mic, this does not show at all when I use the scanner function on Google Wallet.
Did this happen someone else? Or did anyone find a solution? Because it's driving me crazy, and what I attempted didn't solve the issue, I even tryed to uninstall all the updates of Google Wallet and then update through the Play Store, but nothing seem to have solved the issue.

UPDATE 29/05/2023: I updated the phone to OxygenOS 13.1, nothing changed. So I decided to do a factory reset and at the beginning the Wallet app seemed to have solved the problem, but after updating the apps from Play Store, the problem came back again. I asked the Google Support Page giving them detailed info about this issue, hope they answer soon with at least a solution. I'll keep this post updated.

UPDATE 30/05/2023: After a second factory reset of the phone, the app now works correctly, even after the updates from the Play Store. I noticed that the Wallet app that comes preinstalled on my OnePlus 8T with OOS 13.1 is 2.186.523463501 and after the update from the store it goes back to 2.189.528496136 again. I don't think at this point that is a specific version of the app that has the problem, but at the same time I exclude it could be OnePlus' fault too because, as I stated before, the Wallet app works like a charm on a OnePlus Nord 2 running the latest software and the latest app update.

CONCLUSION: At this point, I think it's Google's fault, it's not the first time I have to factory reset a phone in order to make an app to work properly, I have experienced a similar situation with the Contacts app, where it was impossible to delete some labels the app deliberately had created and even in that case the app used to worke fine on other smartphones.
I'm still waiting a response from the Google Support page, as they reached out this afternoon asking the same old questions (did you give the app permissions? can you still add loyalty cards manually? which Google Wallet version is your phone running?) but they did not provided a solution yet. It goes without saying that if they answer the mail with a proper solution, I will happily share it on this post. For the moment, if you happen to be in the same situation, the only workaround is to do a factory reset, which is a shame of course, this should not happen and in my case I had to do it anyway due to the new system update or I usually do it every year or so...

UPDATE 01/06/2023 ...where we left off? Basically, after less than 2 days the Google Wallet app started to malfunction again, this time I maybe found the real problems. I have a scrap phone, a good old OnePlus 5, to which I installed LineageOS 20 with Android 13. This morning I discovered that the problem happens on that phone too, but if you followed along you remember that this problem does not present itself on my OnePlus Nord 2 instead. As a rule of thumb, I think that the problem is showing only on Android 13 smartphones at this point, because the Nord 2 still has OxygenOS 12 with Android 12 onboard, whereas my OP8T and OP5 both have installed Android 13, either through OxygenOS 13.1 or LineageOS. The other thing that "triggers" the problem, I guess, is the update of the Google Play Services to the last version, because as soon this app updated in the Play Store, I was no longer able to use the camera for scanning Qbarcodes.

2023.05.27 23:58 Isotop7 Product inventory tool

I‘m a sysadmin doing some coding on the side and want to showcase my product inventory tool.
https://github.com/Isotop7/isgood
Its alpha stage and consists of a MQTT handler, a database backend and a WebUI. The MQTT messages are later sent by a ESP/Arduino and a connected barcode scanner.
I would love to get opinions on my code and its structure and ideas on how I can improve and extend my app. All the things I‘m currently working on are created as issues.
