Hey folks,
I bought my 92 miata last week. I got a fantastic deal on it ($5k, 90k miles, hardtop, sweet blue paint job, and aftermarket stereo) and I love it.
But, it needs a bit of mechanical attention. It runs and drives but I've been noticing lots of noises and slightly strange behaviors. Nothing seems terribly serious, but I get quite stressed about car problems, and it's been worrying me.
I bought the car anticipating having to work on it. While I don't have much experience working on cars, I'm pretty handy and have an education in mechanical engineering.
I've just been feeling discouraged because of the stress of finding all these noises and problems.
For reference, here is what I've noticed:
  1. A whiny tone to the engines sound that follows RPM's
  2. Occasional near-stall (droop to ~200 rpm) on startup followed by a high idle (1500-2000 rpm's) for about 20 seconds
  3. Occasional jitter / twitch in the tach when stopped and at idle (twitches between 1k and 0 rpm's, despite engine sound remaining constant)
  4. Sluggish feeling acceleration in the low RPMS (I know this is to be expected for a 1.6, but it feels excessively sluggish)
  5. Static-like noise when letting off the gas, usually in third gear, seemingly coming from the gearbox
  6. An intermittent electrical buzzing sound coming from near the coil pack
  7. Code 9 CEL (water thermistor short or open circuit) and code 10 airbag light (Faulty diagnostic module, System-down fuse burned
I guess I'm just posing this to vent and maybe hoping someone sees a connection in the problems I am experiencing. My list of things to replace/check are water thermistor, coil pack, vacuum hoses, ground connections, possibly injectors, possibly throttle body and check ISCV and AV.
TL;DR I love my new miata, but it's old and needs attention, and it's stressing me out.

Hello friends,
With the recent movement of sharing albums and music lost to time, another person and myself have teamed up in an effort to archive as much music as we can in as high of quality as we physically can. While we do plan on releasing the archive when it is finished, we are putting out a public call looking for specific songs that we do not have backed up. Much of what we do have are the albums that were physically released, so many of the titled albums released under One-Eyed Doll and Kimberly's names are safe and are not necessarily lost media. So many of the classic songs you know and love are safe.
However, the problem comes with the more not known songs aka singles. Many of the songs released as singles are not archived, and while we have managed to recover SOME of the singles, there are still many we do not have. These songs were available in the decade the Bandcamps were live, but without them we no longer have access to them. After much surfing and sifting through listings and such, we have created what we believe to be a comprehensive guide of everything that was released.
In the below image, I have the songs that are missing and songs that possibly have higher bitrates. If you have any of these songs, please contact me immediately so we can release this archive.

While some of these songs, like You're a Vampire, Mirror Mirror, and Battle On, have been re-released in compilation albums we are still seeking out their singles because of A) completionism and B) for their original artwork and any possible subtle differences in releases. We appreciate any help or any leads anyone has to offer on this project. Once again, send me a DM if you have or know someone who has any of the non-colored songs or has any of the yellow songs in a higher bitrate. If you see any songs missing from the archive, also let us know so we can update it!

2023.03.30 00:49 Oscinu Server Crash - After Using Wrench in Tech&Trains - Java 15

Good Evening,
Any help is appreciated.
The server was more or less fine apart from some issues with FTBChunks / FTBTeams. These where rectified by promoting people to server admins. As this is a server between friends it should not have caused an issues (If you need more information on this please let me know) please correct me if I am wrong.
Server Description: The server is built around Tech & Trains - 1.3.2 and has mods added for ease of life purposes. Java version when working is 15 and after diagnostics (see below), this is running again on 15 after removing the ImmersiveRailroading-1.16.5-forge-1.9.1 mod.
Gameplay Description: For the best part this has been fine, as above we had some issues with chunks and teams.
Server Crash: I built scaffolding from IR (Immersive Railroading) and when hit with the wrench this crashed the server (crash report below).
Error: The server boots but crash's shortly after (5 seconds) loading the world.
Diagnostics in order so far:
Reason for so many Java Installs is the Java Version didn't recognise the install files for being outdated or post-dated and was suggested on other forums.
Backups: I am not aware that I setup any backups (After the first issue I should have done and its an oversight) for the world folder, but if this is automatic by default then I can restore the world and remove the mod (will reintroduce but only when tested). When booting without the IR Mod it did say it had made a backup of the world to the save location

Station 26 stood out as a beacon in the near infinite darkness of space, a lone source of light in the void, so far from stars that, if not for the neon signs and spotlights, the view from the ship would have been a black canvas with pinprick lights.
Around the station stretched the Avertani asteroid cluster and the thousands of mining ships moving around within it. The cluster was the reason there was a station here in the first place, the Daggeral had opened a massive mining operation here long before humanity came to the stars, centuries after they’d been kicked out, Station 26 was still here, still discovering new deposits in the seemingly limitless asteroids.
The Galaxy needed lithium, so there was always money to be made.
Victoria had been glued to the front of the ship since we’d broken out of the veil offering waffling comments on whether Station 26 was brilliant or ostentatious. I would have offered an opinion but it wouldn't have been constructive without context, and I wasn’t about to give context.
“PHMS Gunboat Diplomat, we’re still getting approval for your landing codes, thank you for your patience.”
I sighed at the message and pressed ‘mark received’ as opposed to responding over the radio. Victoria looked over at me.
“What’s going on with you and this place?”
“Hm?”
“You clearly don’t want to be here. I don’t think it’s just a safety thing.”
“Well, Station 26 certainly isn’t safe.”
“Not why I’m asking.”
I checked the computer to see if the landing codes had been accepted. Longer processing times were never a good sign.
“As your client I think I deserve to know.”
“As your handler I think I should know why the Meritocracy is coming after us,” I answered without looking up at her.
Victoria left the cockpit. I’d been forthcoming with her about most things so far but she wouldn’t understand the history of Station 26, even if she did, understanding wouldn’t be useful on the Station. The best thing for both of us would be to keep our heads down, get the ship repaired and head toward Ovigaia before we got tangled up in one of the myriad messes that acted as structural support on Station 26.
On the table, freshly out of storage there were two guns I’d left half-assembled when we’d been traveling through the darkness of the black. I took one last look at the computer, ensuring that our codes were still pending, and set to putting them back together. Dvall would have called taking out a gun a nervous tick. I understood it as therapy. I’d done it enough times that it was a mindless thing to do with my hands while I waited for news or anything else.
The Nurse, a precision rifle from the human military, was an old habit. I hadn’t used the damn thing since Dvall had been on the ship but I’d stipped and cleaned it more than anything else here. It was uniquely meticulous compared to the other human weaponry I owned. Not the kind of thing you brought planetside unless you were hired for an assassination.
Beside the Nurse, there was a Fotuan Overmaster, a gun that I’d never stripped before. I’d gotten my hands on it years ago and it had been a trophy since then. The Fotuan military didn’t provide weapon schematics, seeing as they weren’t part of the GMDA which meant I wasn’t 100% sure how to put the damned thing back together. It wasn’t like I’d been keen to burn the energy on streaming a how-to video when we were in the black.
Instead the arcane workings of something that, in theory, would make complete sense to Victoria sat on the table in front of me.
Most weapons that I owned were built under GMDA regulations, which led to a useful degree of standardization when it came to taking apart and modifying the weapons to break those regulations. I could be sure that the firing chambers used the same dampeners across Anteraxi, Daggeral, Ovishir and Human weapons, alongside some others. Other species had guns that I couldn't even fire, like the Thirik’s bio-electric trggers.
The Fotuans, as far as I could tell, just built things differently to be a pain in the ass.
After poking around for a moment in the outer frame of the gun trying to find the clips I’d undone to open it up in the first place I sighed. “Victoria.”
“Yes,” she said from the back of the ship, having left me alone by the cock-pit.
“Mind coming over and taking a look at this? I can’t quite figure it out.”
“Isn’t this your job?” Victoria asked before walking over to me and looking over my shoulder. “That’s the Fotuan one.”
“Mhm.”
“And-”
“I can’t figure out how this is supposed to clip back in.”
“Then why did you take it apart?”
Curiosity,” I lied. Anxiousness didn’t feel like an answer that would inspire confidence.

So I got a promotion in my job to junior software engineer(from senior technician). They sent me to a bootcamp and we learned how to write programs in python(yes I know the sub in in but hold on) and sql and basic web scraping. Graduated boot camp and starting to transition into new role.
Now the fun part, I look at the code base im supposed to work with and it's all in a special version of c(I think it's by national instruments), parts are from 2005 and tens of thousands of lines across like 50 files and alot of it is calling calling special functions from national instruments. I can't say exactly what the purpose of the code is but it's basically to run measurement equipment to test our primary product.
What is the best way to learn to work with a new code base? Should I just start at main() and step through every line step by step and searching through the documentation from national instruments for every function I can't find in our code base? That seems like it would take forever.
Should I just look at the biggest functions since those are probably most complicated and need the most potential time to understand?
Maybe just look at most common function calls?
Am I completely wrong and I should do something else?
