2023.05.14 04:49 welpkelp84 My girlfriend’s checking and savings accounts were accessed by unknown party. How is this possible?
My partner banks with Truist bank and is very protective of their information. They rarely use their debit card to pay for things - usually they use one secured and one unsecured credit card to pay for gas, groceries, etc.
Two weeks ago, 3 transactions at different Atlanta area auto parts stores appeared on her debit card statement. The truist fraud line was contacted but they couldn’t stop the transactions while they were pending (they were flagged instead).
Last weekend we woke up to several notifications that atm withdrawals and in-store purchases at hartsfield Jackson electronics shops had been performed - all whilst we were at home and sleeping. Money had somehow been taken from checking and savings. The most puzzling transaction was a 1000 dollar purchase that was verified by pin - even though the debit card was 50 miles away.
We have shut down the compromised checkings and savings accounts and are operating with cash and money orders (the rent money was withdrawn by the scammer). Everything is getting back to normal except Truist has denied the request to restore my partner’s balances. They claim that since purchases were verified with chip/pin, that they could not been performed by an unauthorized party.
Today we went to the police to file a report and ask for an investigation - anything to get back the stolen money. What do we do next? Does anyone have experience with this situation?
Any advice is appreciated

2023.05.09 23:38 charge556 Banks that allow cash deposit at ATM
Just found out that truist is no longer allowing cash deposits at any of thier ATMs (they already stopped weekend hours after the merge with suntrust)
As a nightshifter this completely screws me over. Which banks still allow cash deposits at thier ATMs.
Thanks
EDIT about an hour or two after posting this I called to double check and the person I spoke to said the first person was wrong. Which is strange because they gave a crazy detailed response (the first person) about how a notice was going to be sent out to all members and they were in the process of slowly shutting down cash deposits branch by branch and how drive up teller would still be an option etc etc. So either a) first person gave wildy wrong info or b) first person gave info not yet told to other employees.
Im betting a.

2023.05.08 00:02 Ok-Beautiful-8403 Drive-thru ATM stolen from Truist Bank in Baltimore County
2023.03.23 15:24 duligan76 financial questions
This is a long story,
February 15, 2023,
My computer had locked up, I was given a 800 number to call.......somebody from "Microsoft" He had told me that someone was stealing large amounts of money ($5,600.00) to look at "Child porn"
And said that he would have someone call me. Someone from "Truist" Anyway He made me book an Uber, Instructed me to go to a Truist Branch, Withdraw $56,00.00 (all this while he was on the phone with me guiding me through it, And he said Not to say anything to anyone) He then instructed me to take it to a gas station, to make a transaction on a the atm and turn it into Bitcoin. Luckily, The uber Driver stayed in the parking lot (it did look suspicious) He came in, asked me what was going on, And I told him,
He was nice enough to drive me to my local branch, And re-deposit the money.
So, I was telling the teller this story, And the Branch Manager Overheard me, And asked me.
To make a long story short, I closed one account and opened another, But one I closed account is still active, cause deducing from my credit card. So, I attempted a reverse To try to close this new account and reopen my old one (which never Compermised in the first place.
How would I go about "reopening" The old one, Will it open if make enough deposit's
And, would I have to give the bank a reason for reopening it?

2023.02.22 04:00 exhausted-panda Cash deposit hold through ATM?
I put $100 cash in my Truist account through an ATM. On my Truist app it shows $100 in green with pending written under it, and above it shows the same transaction in red with "Deposit Hold Adjustment" Never before have I had my funds withheld from me. What in the hell is going on? Why are they randomly holding my money from me?

2023.02.14 15:42 pettyw0p Does USAA have an ATM deal with Truist?
I noticed a few months ago that their ATMs had stopped charging me fees and that they haven’t come back. Their banks don’t show up on the ATM locator map though. Are they just charging the fee to USAA directly or something?

2023.02.09 18:45 ScottATL Hold on Check
I regularly write checks to transfer money from my money market account to my Truist checking account. I deposited a check for 1000.00 and Truist has placed a hold on it. I called the issuing bank and they tell me the check has been debited and cleared and everything looks normal on their end. I am now on hold with the SECOND Truist representative (the first one placed me on hold then hung up after 5 mins.). I am currently going on 20 mins waiting for a supervisor. I deposited the check Feb 7th (mobile deposit...like I always do). They are trying to tell me the funds wont be released until the 16th of Feb. No one has been able to tell me why there is a hold. According to Federal law there can only be a hold placed on your deposit if:
- this is a new account
- you made the deposit from a non-Truist ATM
- deposit is over 5000.00
- the check was returned and redeposited.
- there is a REASONABLE expectation that the bank will not get paid
None of these apply. The supervisor is trying to tell me it takes them 10 days to receive funds yet the issuer told me the check is already cleared and they have been paid. One good thing about being on hold for 20 mins is that it was more than enough time to file an online complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which if you have a similar problem I would advise you do the same. I am again on hold as the supervisor is "escalating".

2023.01.23 05:12 ConquestLunatic Best Debit Cards to have on hand in Japan?
I know I'm going to have to go to the ATM quite a bit and pick up some cash every now and then. I've got several bank accounts (Chase, Truists, Bank of America, Sofi...) with different kinds of cards (Mastercard, Visa).
Any idea if any particular card would be best to use in Japan over the other? Does anything claim to have no ATM fees? Will anything run into serious issues when doing withdrawals?

2022.10.24 00:20 maxgorkiy Issues with M1 Debit Card and PNC Bank ATM
Has anyone had any issues with M1 Debit Card at other banks' ATM machines? I tried using M1 Finance Debit Card for my Spend account at PNC Bank ATM. The "Withdraw" option was grayed out and NOT selectable. Later I tried using M1 card in Truist Bank ATM and it worked fine. Has anyone had similar experiences? I just opened a support ticket with M1 Finance as well.

2022.09.29 17:20 Fifi343434 ATMs that give small bills?
SunTrust on Cherokee Blvd used to give out $10s, $5s and even $1s!
But now that they are Truist it is back to only $20s. Boo!
Are there any other ATMs that give out smaller bills? I know I can go to a bank and trade in, but ATMs are obviously easier.
Thanks!

2022.06.16 06:10 DerekLudwig06 I played with a scammer and now I think they are messing with my phone
Earlier today I got a message saying "TRUIST_BANK: We Have Locked Your Debit/ATM Card Due To Unusual Activity Detected, Sign On “potentially malicious site” To Verify Your identity" I do not use this bank nor plan to so I decided to open it and insert the text "your mom" into all the fields where I would put sensitive information and completed the account recovery form. Now I was making a TikTok and it said my location was in Indonesia so I turned on my vpn and It changed to Florida. I know what I did was childish but honestly I did find it pretty funny as I put a fake credit card in the information. What should I do?

2022.05.22 03:56 drtyhppi Checking/Savings Cash Deposits
My boomer brick & mortar bank was recently taken over by Truist, then abruptly closed down and now the closest Truist bank is 45 mins from me. My daughter is working her first job as a busewaitress and gets paid in cash and I'm her bank. I really like Sofi and if I'm going to switch banks, I'd like to go with them. I've been doing research on ATMs and participating locations for cash deposits. The closest Allpoints ATM is 100 miles from me, but there is a Walmart and Walgreens in the my town that apparently allows the following:
- Reload with cash
- Reload Online Accounts
- Add Money to PayPal
My questions are as follows:
- Can someone please explain what those first two options mean? Can I literally go into Walmart, hand a cashier cash and ask to have it deposited into my SoFi checking/savings account?
- If the answer to #1 isn't basically "yes", then what is the experience like with the PayPal option?

2022.05.12 23:55 Andraste47 What denominations do the ATM's give?
I've recently moved and it looks like the only major bank here is Truist. Generally the only thing I need a physical bank branch for is getting five dollar bills out for occasional tips for grocery delivery. It has admittedly been an age since I've used an ATM and was wondering if Trusist allows you to choose smaller denominations than 20 for a withdrawal. I've not opened up an account yet so I can't just go up to an ATM and check.

2022.04.29 00:17 Willbudz00 Wells Fargo Atm Question
Went to try and put my payroll check dated tmw in the atm after work today, and check was rejected. Tried with the mobile app and same thing. Never had a problem a truist using the atm or mobile deposit a day before the checks date. Am not able to get out and deposit tomorrow, so just wondering if this a Wells Fargo thing. Does anyone know if I take this check to the atm after 9 tonight if it will accept, or if mobile is the only option how much/any would I receive if I mobile deposited tmw morning? Thanks

2022.04.20 16:21 Magic_Short_Bus IDK what to do about this Money mule
Hello, let me give you some back story. I got an email from an employer that wanted me to interview for a position (not unusual because I was applying to internships at the time). So i took the interview and I ended up getting the job. For a week I was tasked to do random assignments and then bang, they asked me to deposit a check. At the time I didn't think anything of it so i cashed it a few later and waited for it to clear (which it did but still under review).
Then in a later email the "employer" told me to take out cash and send them bitcoin through a bitcoin atm. (fake check Scam) so I declined and told them I do not want to do that. They went on and on about sending it even screaming at me. I told them to F off and filed a report for Money Muling on a government website.
But heres why I am confused. i still have all the money in my account. Im pretty sure its going to register as fraud later in the week by Truist and get taken out right? what do I do with this im so lost.
Do i just wait? I dont really know where to go from here tbh.
Edit: added Fake check scam

2022.04.15 19:37 DontBeScaredHommie Truist won't process Modification paperwork as part of COVID forbearance program due to messy BB&T and Truist merger? What to do?
Hello,
I am helping out my Mom & Dad who entered into the COVID Forbearance program, my dad was left disabled after being hospitalized with COVID for two months in Dec 2020. They entered into the forbearance plan due to loss of income as my Mom had to leave work to help take care of Dad after he left the hospital. After the COVID forbearance program ended, they decided to opt for Modification plan with their bank BB&T.
The terms BB&T sent them paper work to make 3 trial payments for $X amount before:
Dec 1st 2021
Jan 1st 2022
Feb 1st 2022
They successfully made the payments and checks cleared in Nov, Dec, and January and posted to the account.
- In January after making their final payment they called and they were told they successfully completed their trial payments and should be receiving modification paper in 1-2 weeks.
- They called again in late February after not receiving their paperwork and were told one of their payments was sent in early. The person said they will open a ticket for it to be corrected and they should receive their paperwork soon. They were told they had no payments due at this time.
Here is where it gets funny, BB&T was acquired/merged with Truist during this time:
https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/business/banking/article258920513.html#:~:text=The%20%2466%20billion%20merger%20of,ATMs%2C%20credit%20cards%20and%20website.
- They called again in March and were told that they have no notes of the previous calls and that they had sent in the payment early, outside the trial window. The person said they would create an email for their account to be reviewed and to call back. They said they cannot escalate.
- After calling back they were told the response to the ticket/email was that of the payments was sent outside the trial window and that they need to make another payment and call back again after that payment.
- They made another payment and called back again in April. They were told the original payments were made outside the window. After contesting the payment was not made outside the window with the person on the phone and requested the person on the phone pull up the original paperwork. This person realized their loan was a BB&T Loan which has different forbearance terms than the Truist loans they typically deal with. They confirmed the payments were made during the right window but they cant do anything. They said they would open a ticket w/ the details and to call back in a couple of days. But the last time this happened, it didn't get resolved. Truist was expecting payments to be sent in December, January, February.
- This person also said they have no history of past emails/tickets sent.
I am wondering what legal options they have here? Should they get a lawyer? Is there a government complaint they can file to speed things up? Any magic words to say on the phone? Everytime they call they get a different answer and their issue does not get resolved. There is no way for them to track the internal tickets the people they speak to on the phone create and they receive no written communication from Truist.
They are worried the bank will due something stupid like attempt to foreclose. They are also accruing payments at their old monthly payment amount rather than the smaller payment of the modification payment, so they are being financially harmed by this.

2022.01.23 15:14 BabyBlackBear Checking Account for Cash Deposits
Hello folks of Reddit,
I'm looking for a business checking account best for a business (LLC) dealing with a lot of cash deposits (rarely if ever withdrawals and not that many transactions, say around 50/mo). Best is having a wide national deposit ATM network in major cities throughout the US. Reasonable / low / waivable fees.
The best I've seen is Truist (SunTrust/BBT) Dynamic Business Checking. Up to $25000/mo in cash deposits. $20 monthly maintenance fee, waived for balances over $5000. Plenty of locations in my primary area. But lacking in ATMs in some other areas I frequent (West US).
They seem like my best bet at this point, but I figured I'd reach out here before I finalize my decision.
Thank you for your time.
