2023.06.02 18:39 autisticallyautistic Next step?

I am posting for Homegoods which is connected to the TjMaxx but the subreddit for Homegoods requires approval to post and I need this answered soon. I had an interview yesterday and got a callback today to schedule my orientation. I received another call from a different manager who told me I needed to go to jobs.tjx and fill out something before Monday? She didn't go into detail and was also very hard to understand. Does anyone know what I need to fill out?

2023.05.20 00:45 zeuqzav Summer job?

Hi! How open is TJMaxx/Marshall’s to temporary jobs? I’m only looking to work during the summer, any advice?
Thanks in advance 🙏

2023.05.15 03:58 thatll_do_donkey88 orientation?

hi! i just recently got a job at TJmaxx and i have a question. what should i expect from the orientation, like what will be taught/talked about? will it be like a training? will i get information on how to clock in and out, how the schedule works and what times i’m set to start working for example? after the interview i wasn’t told very much besides to bring my ID and SSC. sorry if this question is dumb, but i’m nervous and i have no idea what comes next so i’m asking it anyway. i just want to know what to expect. thank you

2023.05.13 06:43 goldminevelvet Thinking about leaving Marshalls and interviewing at Home Goods

When applying for jobs I applied to TJMaxx, Marshalls and Home Goods. Marshalls got into contact with me first, Home Goods called me after my interview at Marshalls but told me to call back if anything changes and I didn't hear anything from TjMaxx,
I just started but I applied as a merchandiser and at the last minute they told me they only needed cashiers. I stupidly said yes because I needed the work but I'm realizing that I can't do it anymore. I just can't stand in one spot sometimes walking a few feet to put away hangers/clothes. I can work fine moving around, I prefer jobs where I walk around and I also wouldn't mind still working at Marshalls and just being backup cashier. But yeah, 8 or even just 5 hours of standing in one spot is something that I can't do. I am wearing shoes with support, I'm wearing the same shoes that I wore when I worked as an e-commerce person a few months ago and I had no problems then.
Anyone, has anyone swapped to Home Goods? How do you like it? I'm leaning towards Home Goods because it seems most similar to a previous job that I enjoyed, World Market.

2023.04.25 20:55 SoiloquioDeSara Still waiting :D

Ok, so... I had my interview at tjmaxx 2 weeks ago. I called after one week and they told me I got the job and thet they were gonna send paperwork through email, I got not emails. I waited a little few more days to ask, and they told me they were vey bussy because of the inventory stuff and that they were gonna contact me on Monday. It's already Tuesday and I dont want to call again bc I dont want to be annoying lol. Are they really bussy or they're just ghosting me ? Or am I just desperate for a job? .-. I reaally need this jobjfdfhskjf.

1. The Inkey List - Caffeine Stimulating Scalp Treatment
--- Price: $9.45 (theinkeylist.com)
--- Date of Purchase: Nov 28, 2022
--- Thoughts: Easy to use, but it's very liquid and runny. Can't tell if it did anything, perhaps I should've use it for longer time. I do see a lot of new hair grow, but it could've been caused by other things (natural recovery, supplements)
--- Repurchase: Maybe
2. Ecru - Texture Dry Shampoo
--- Price: $7.99 (TjMaxx.com)
--- Date of Purchase: Mar 21, 2022
--- Thoughts: Pretty good dry shampoo
--- Repurchase: Yes at this price point
3. Natura Siberica - Pre-shampoo Bio Scalp Peeling Re-grow
--- Price: $4 (outside of US)
--- Date of Purchase: May 2022
--- Thoughts: Does the job done. Removes build-up and leaves hair clean for 1 extra day. This peeling is slightly thick, thus easy to apply because it won't run. Unfortunately, scalp peelings aren't popular in the US and it's hard to find an alternative for this one.
--- Repurchase: Yes!
4. Hyaluron Power - Volume and Conditioning Leave-in
--- Price: $0.5 (outside the US)
--- Date of Purchase: May 2022
--- Thoughts: I don't think it does anything
--- Repurchase: no

1. B&BW - Wallflowers - Champagne Toast
--- Price: $3.95 (B&BW online)
--- Date of Purchase: Dec 8 2022
--- Thoughts: I couldn't smell it, unfortunately. The scent is either very weak or I was nose blind
--- Repurchase: no
2. AirWick - Plug-in Refill - Wood Mystic
--- Price: unknown (BJ's)
--- Date of Purchase: unknown
--- Thoughts: It's a nice smell, but not strong enough
--- Repurchase: maybe
3. Glade - Bamboo

--- Repurchase: Yes
4. AirWick - Plug-in Refill - Lavender

1. B&BW - White Barn - Hinoki Wood & Lavender
--- Price: $16.95 (B&BW online)
--- Date of Purchase: Dec 8 2022
--- Thoughts: Positives: Burn was clean, did not tunnel. Smell was strong. Negatives: Burned out very quickly (maybe within a week). I used to be confused reading /GooseCreekCandles and B&BW thread at how people manage to go through so many candles in a matter of a month (I'm talking about 10-30 candles a month!). Now I know... These candles liquify within an hour of burn, their wax is very soft and burns out very fast. Another negative is the scent - though it's strong it's very artificial and air freshener like. It doesn't smell like Lavender, nor like Hinoki Wood. I almost feel like they labeled it just because and the name has nothing to do with the scent.
--- Repurchase: yes, but only if under $8. It doesn't cost the original price (which is about $25)
3. Leoben - Sandalwood & Musk
--- Price: $7.99 (Marshalls)
--- Date of Purchase: Feb 2023
--- Thoughts: Scent was nice and complex, not really wood-ey one, more like men cologne. That's the end of the positives. The burning was terrible. I had one of the worst tunneling issues with it. I tried to help it and ended up removing almost a half of its wax. Wick would curl and drown in its own pool of wax all the time. So far, out of 4 Leoben candles I had only 1 that didn't have burning issues.
--- Repurchase: no
3. Leoben - Wild Fern + Moss
--- Price: $7.99 (Marshalls)
--- Date of Purchase: Nov 2022
--- Thoughts: Had all the issues as the other candle above.
--- Repurchase: no
4. Nest - 3 Wick Mint & Moss
--- Price: $42.47 (Nordstrom Rack)
--- Date of Purchase: Nov 29, 2022
--- Thoughts: Positive: Wow, such a powerhouse. I feel like the smell was so strong and complex that it totally justifies the price tag. I could tell the difference between this candle and the typical cheap ones I get at TJMaxx. It filled my 500 sqft room completely. Burn was clean, lasted decent amount of time, didn't burn too quickly. Negative: Not my scent profile. It smells almost like ELDO - You or someone like you (fresh grassy mint) and I have love/hate relationship with that perfume.
--- Repurchase: yes, but in other scents

1. Dr.Jart+ - Vital Hydra Solution
--- Price: $3 (TJMaxx online)
--- Date of Purchase: Jul 9, 2020
--- Thoughts: I like these masks for instant hydration. I can't tell if the effect lasts for a long period of time (probably not), but they are very good as immediate dry skin help. Not oily or sticky. I also believe they are somewhat better than most of the cheaper brands I've tried from TjMaxx.
--- Repurchase: yes
2. Alba Botanica - Hawaiian Detox Frothy Scrub
--- Price: unknown, probably around $7 (TJMaxx or Marshalls)
--- Date of Purchase: unknown, probably 2019
--- Thoughts: Very nice scrub. Since I don't like to apply scrubs on my body I used this one as scalp scrub and it performed as good as my Oribe scalp scrub at a fraction of the cost!
--- Repurchase: yes
3. Lindo - Toothbrush 12000 bristles
--- Price: $2.5 (TJMaxx)

--- Date of Purchase: Nov 2022
--- Thoughts: Wow! First of all, it smells like a real rose and the scent is VERY strong. I could feel it around the apartment every time someone would wash their hands. Surprisingly, it costed less than an average soap at HomeGoods that were around $5-$6. Also, it is made in Italy.

2023.03.08 10:55 Normal-Pineapple-394 24 and still asking permission

I want to fly to Florida for my birthday. I live in a cold place and really want to see the beach. I have the money... I just can't get an OK from my parents. They say it's too dangerous to go alone as a girl. I have no friends to go with. So will I never go then? I dream of Miami but I guess I can never go unless with a chaperone. I can't walk in my neighborhood without asking my mom and she gets someone to go with me. I never take the bus and I spend most days at home. We mostly talk about my mom's everyday issues with my grandma who has memory issues. I can't find a job and I am scared of driving. I am like a goldfish in a bowl: well fed, happy most days, but feeling empty and bored. My mom takes me to Target, Marshall's and TJmaxx as an outing. I don't feel like buying clothes because I never have an opportunity to wear them. She picks them out for me anyway. The last time I looked in my closet I realized it was all clothes she bought for me..none that I have chosen. When I choose something myself she'll say, "don't you have something like that already?" And proceed to pick something she likes for me.. sometimes I feel like screaming because she seems to be able to look into the future and knows which step I take will result in a mistake. Do it this way, not this way.. everything I do is in some way wrong.. I feel like a failure. My parents tell me not to become like my aunt who was babied by her parents, and now stays home all the time and never got married. But I feel like they see that for me because of my fear of driving, not that there's so much to miss living in a suburban town, but at least I could hop from parking lot to parking lot. I feel like a burden to the few friends that I have because I can't drive. But they don't ever have big plans to go anywhere because they are strictly religious. Sometimes I think that's an excuse, maybe it's just outside their comfort zone. I feel bad asking to come along anyway... I can count on my hands how many times I've been out since turning 21. Now it's going to be my 25th birthday. I feel like I've barely been an adult. My friends are in school for law and medicine but I haven't been able to find work after school. I have been to networking events and got over 30 contacts and emailed them all but no one apparently knows of any opportunities. I hate asking. I hate being the one begging. I am on 3 different dating apps and am always the first to message with few replies, and in cases where the guy replies the conversation goes nowhere. As soon as they find out they have to drive to meet me they lose interest. They want me to deliver myself to them. There has not been one to suggest meeting halfway. I'm almost 25 and never had a boyfriend. It's my most sincere wish..but meeting someone would require freedom. Again, I'm begging. I'm the one asking for a favor. To live. To love. To make my own choices. But I'm going nowhere fast...and as they say, repeating something over and over and getting the same result is insanity...I think I'm going crazy. Thank you for listening to my meandering tale of woe... any advice is appreciated

February 2023 empties!
This post was a long due but I've been sick with some sort of a bronchitis/pneumonia (not Covid related) for about 2 weeks and had no will power to sit at the computer and write anything. These posts are a part of my journey as I'm attempting "buy lessutilize more what you have" since January 7th 2023.I made some binge purchases this month (candles and clothing) and I'm not particularly proud of how February went. I believe that I lost some enthusiasm in the 'utilizing my own stuff' thing too and used up less than what it was in January. I don't want to sound pessimistic :D Still, I made a progress and documented my empties. There is a no smooth journey, which makes it more fun!

HOUSEHOLD CLEANING

1. Sprayway - All Purpose Cleaner
--- Price: $0 (it was left in the apartment by the previous owner)
--- Date of Purchase: Unknown
--- Thoughts: I wasn't able to finish it to the bottom - it stopped spraying unexpectedly. I think the can ran out of gas, while I could hear the that there were some contents left inside (wasteful). I have mixed feeling about it. While I liked the fact that it sprayed a thin foam layer on the surface (thanks to the aerosol) at the same time I'd cough every single time I'd use it, because aerosol caused the tiny cleaner particles fly everywhere and be inhaled. I don't think it's healthy at all...
--- Repurchase: no, too afraid to inhale this thing
2. Bona - Hardwood Floor Cleaner
--- Price: $13.97 (Walmart Online)
--- Date of Purchase: Jul 2021
--- Thoughts: We have our floors finished with Bona water-based stain/finish, and I feel like this is a good product to maintain the floors. I use these to refill a Bona mop.
--- Repurchase: yes
3. Juniper - Surface Cleaner
--- Price: $0 (it was left in the apartment by the previous owner)
--- Date of Purchase: unknown
--- Thoughts: Typical bleach cleaner. The sprayer pump was broken, I had to put it in a different container to use it up.
--- Repurchase: maybe
4. Dawn - Platinum Powerwash Dish Spray
--- Price: unknown (BJ's)
--- Date of Purchase: Apr 2021
--- Thoughts: I didn't understand this thing. I had to force myself to use it, because I'd find myself reaching to the regular dish soap instead. Sometimes I'd spray it on the dished, leave it for a while, forget about it, it would dry out completely and then I'd have to use the dish soap anyways. Perhaps, I didn't get something about this product, but I found it strange, inconvenient and useless.
--- Repurchase: no

1. AirWick - Plug-in Refill - Lavender
--- Price: unknown (BJ's)
--- Date of Purchase: unknown
--- Thoughts: One of my all time favorites by AirWick. The fragrance is so clean and calming. Try it out if you are into plug-ins
--- Repurchase: yes, definitely
2. AirWick - Plug-in Refill - Lilac
--- Price: unknown (BJ's)
--- Date of Purchase: unknown
--- Thoughts: I like the smell, it could be a good closet smell - it smells like an 'old school' classy perfume. I couldn't smell any lilac note in it... I was expecting a different scent profile. It doesn't smell strong enough though.
--- Repurchase: no, too weak
3. B&BW - Wallflowers - Hot Cocoa & Cream
--- Price: $3.95 (B&BW online)
--- Date of Purchase: Dec 8 2022
--- Thoughts: I loved this so much. It does smell like a real hot cocoa and the fragrance was strong and present
--- Repurchase: definitely

1. GenAire - Metered Spray Refill - Cinnamon Twist
--- Price: $3.69 (Amazon)
--- Date of Purchase: Aug 24 2021
--- Thoughts: I don't like the scent. It is strong and present, but not my profile. I think it smells like wet carton boxes. Unfortunately, I bought a case of 12...
--- Repurchase: no
2. GenAire - Metered Spray Refill - Vanilla Bean
--- Price: $3.03 (OfficeSupply)
--- Date of Purchase: Feb 27 2021
--- Thoughts: This scent is my all time favorite! It smells like pure vanilla
--- Repurchase: yes, definitely

1. Vila Hermanos - 17oz Diffuser - Rome
--- Price: $24.99 (HomeGoods online)
--- Date of Purchase: Jan 20 2022
--- Thoughts: This one lasted almost a year and I could actually smell it. The scent was fresh and green. Not 100% my profile, but quite nice. I've tried to search for this brand but seems like they aren't sold in the US and normally are very expensive. I was lucky to purchase it, and I'll keep the bottle (Demeter sells diffuser refills, perhaps I'll try it one day). I had finished a citrus diffuser previously (same brand) and it was the best one I ever had
--- Repurchase: yes
2. GC Botanicals - 5.3oz Diffuser - Lavender Fields
--- Price: $7.99 (HomeGoods)
--- Date of Purchase: Aug 2022
--- Thoughts: I added those lavender reeds myself. It smelled nice and realistic like real lavender. The fragrance was on a weaker side though. It lasted only 2 months. Interesting fact: we have a Dyson air purifier, and every time I'd flip reeds of the Rome diffuser (the one above) Dyson would turn on and purify the air... (It has automatic censors that detect bad particles in the room air) Any time I'd flip the reeds of this lavender one, Dyson wouldn't turn on. Does it mean that this one is better for health?
--- Repurchase: yes

CANDLES

1. Manly Indulgence - 5 O'Clock Shadow
--- Price: $14.99 (HomeGoods)
--- Date of Purchase: Nov 2022
--- Thoughts: Nice candle. Lasted a decent amount of time, the burn was clean and it didn't tunnel. It smells like some typical men Axe kind of fragrance, which was nice, fresh and clean.
--- Repurchase: yes
2. Parks London - Amber, Citrus Amara
--- Price: $15 (for a set at TJMaxx online)
--- Date of Purchase: Jan 8 2020
--- Thoughts: The set included a room spray, diffuser (used up) and 4 small candles (probably about 2.5oz each). The scent is nice and smells deep, woody and 'expensive'. I had this candle for a while and it unfortunately became bland. It almost didn't smell until half of it was gone and this is where the smell finally hit.
--- Repurchase: yes
3. PaddyWax - Amber & Smoke - 2ct
--- Price: $9.99 (each, Marshalls)
--- Date of Purchase: Dec 2022
--- Thoughts: While the vessels are nice, the fragrance is strong and beautiful (smells like a fireplace), the burning gave me so much issues, I believe these were the most troubled candles I ever owned. Wicks would curl down and get drawn in the wax, they'd tunnel, extinct and the flame would be so puny at the time it was almost invisible. I've tried to cotton ball them, to straighten wicks, to pour away some of the wax, I've tried foil, a torch, whatever.. Nothing worked. The other day I saw these at Whole Foods and they were like $30 each. I'd be so disappointed if I've paid that price for them. I saved the containers and I'm going to pour my own candles in them.
--- Repurchase: no

BODY CARE

1. Ahava - Coconut Salt Scrub
--- Price: $6.99 (TJMaxx Online)
--- Date of Purchase: Mar 21 2022
--- Thoughts: Unfortunately, I got 3 differently fragranced ones and I didn't like it at all. It is made of salt, and dries the skin. Whenever I'd have small wounds or scratches it would burn so bad. I have never had a salt scrub before. I didn't like the smell either, it reminded me of brazilian keratin hair treatment smell.
--- Repurchase: no
2. Dalgona Milk Body Cleanser - Korean Cookies
--- Price: $5.99 (Marshalls)
--- Date of Purchase: Dec 2022
--- Thoughts: It smells divine, I wanted to lick it. I used to have another Banana flavored one by the same brand and I loved it too.
--- Repurchase: yes
3. Peckniff's - Liquid Hand Soap - Frosted Pinecones & Green Fir
--- Price: $5.99 or $6.99 (Marshalls)
--- Date of Purchase: Oct 2022
--- Thoughts: The smell is very fresh and not sweet at all. After some time I started to dislike the smell, because it was too harsh. It smells almost like pure pine oil.
--- Repurchase: no
4. B&BW - Sanitizer - Strawberry Snowflakes
--- Price: $1.60 (B&BW Online)
--- Date of Purchase: Dec 8 2022
--- Thoughts: it does the job and smells nice. It's very small and good to put in a pocket. It didn't dry my skin.
--- Repurchase: yes

TOOTHPASTE

1. Shmidt's - Toothpaste - Wondermint
--- Price: $5 or $6 (TJMaxx or Marshalls)
--- Date of Purchase: unknown
--- Thoughts: It's on a liquid diluted side and needs a large amount of the product to be applied. It didn't leave a clean feeling.
--- Repurchase: no
2. Marvis - Toothpaste - Black Forest
--- Price: $7.99 (TJMaxx online)
--- Date of Purchase: Jul 6 2022
--- Thoughts: I saw these sold at Eataly for $20 and I wouldn't buy it at that price point. Otherwise, it is very thick and concentrated and little goes a long way. The flavor is very unique and nice.
--- Repurchase: yes, at this price point.

COSMETICS MISC

1. Perricone MD - High Potency Classics Nutritive Cleanser
--- Price: $19.99 (TJMaxx online)
--- Date of Purchase: May 15 2019
--- Thoughts: this one is one of my all time favorites! It leaves skin very clean while hydrated and not greasy. It was the 3rd one I used up and I would keep repurchasing it at this price point
--- Repurchase: yes, at this price point
2. Boscia - Charcoal Pore Pudding Mask
--- Price: $9.99 (TJMaxx online)
--- Date of Purchase: Mar 18 2021

--- Repurchase: yes
3. Secrets of Pharaoh
--- Price: $2.99 or $3.99 (Marshalls)
--- Date of Purchase: Aug 2022
--- Thoughts: it's very decent for the price. It was a bit too orange for my brows shade, and I believe this color was already ash-y one. I doubt they have one that would closer match my color
--- Repurchase: no
4. Bvlgari - Man
--- Price: free sampler (Macy's)
--- Date of Purchase: Apr 9 2022
--- Thoughts: I don't remember the scent :D Which probably means it was a pass
--- Repurchase: no

1. VitaScience - Multivitamin fizzy pills
--- Price: $2 (not sold in the US, made in Germany)
--- Date of Purchase: unknown
--- Thoughts: I like these, I add them to a glass of sparkling water. They have orange flavor and make water tasty while they are good for health. I saw Amazon selling a similar brand for $10 for 4 tubes (20ct each).
--- Repurchase: yes
2. Golde - Skin Hydration Aide
--- Price: $6 (TJMaxx online)
--- Date of Purchase: Dec 14 2022
--- Thoughts: 6ct. I like these. Not sure if they make any difference for the skin, but I want to believe they do. They add a nice flavor to the water

1. Ahava - Coconut Salt Scrub
--- Price: $6.99 (TJMaxx Online)
--- Date of Purchase: Mar 21 2022
--- Thoughts: Unfortunately, I got 3 differently fragranced ones and I didn't like it at all. It is made of salt, and dries the skin. Whenever I'd have small wounds or scratches it would burn so bad. I have never had a salt scrub before. I didn't like the smell either, it reminded me of brazilian keratin hair treatment smell.
--- Repurchase: no
2. Dalgona Milk Body Cleanser - Korean Cookies
--- Price: $5.99 (Marshalls)
--- Date of Purchase: Dec 2022
--- Thoughts: It smells divine, I wanted to lick it. I used to have another Banana flavored one by the same brand and I loved it too.
--- Repurchase: yes
3. Peckniff's - Liquid Hand Soap - Frosted Pinecones & Green Fir
--- Price: $5.99 or $6.99 (Marshalls)
--- Date of Purchase: Oct 2022
--- Thoughts: The smell is very fresh and not sweet at all. After some time I started to dislike the smell, because it was too harsh. It smells almost like pure pine oil.
--- Repurchase: no
4. B&BW - Sanitizer - Strawberry Snowflakes
--- Price: $1.60 (B&BW Online)
--- Date of Purchase: Dec 8 2022
--- Thoughts: it does the job and smells nice. It's very small and good to put in a pocket. It didn't dry my skin.
--- Repurchase: yes

TOOTHPASTE

1. Shmidt's - Toothpaste - Wondermint
--- Price: $5 or $6 (TJMaxx or Marshalls)
--- Date of Purchase: unknown
--- Thoughts: It's on a liquid diluted side and needs a large amount of the product to be applied. It didn't leave a clean feeling.
--- Repurchase: no
2. Marvis - Toothpaste - Black Forest
--- Price: $7.99 (TJMaxx online)
--- Date of Purchase: Jul 6 2022
--- Thoughts: I saw these sold at Eataly for $20 and I wouldn't buy it at that price point. Otherwise, it is very thick and concentrated and little goes a long way. The flavor is very unique and nice.
--- Repurchase: yes, at this price point.

1. Perricone MD - High Potency Classics Nutritive Cleanser
--- Price: $19.99 (TJMaxx online)
--- Date of Purchase: May 15 2019
--- Thoughts: this one is one of my all time favorites! It leaves skin very clean while hydrated and not greasy. It was the 3rd one I used up and I would keep repurchasing it at this price point
--- Repurchase: yes, at this price point
2. Boscia - Charcoal Pore Pudding Mask
--- Price: $9.99 (TJMaxx online)
--- Date of Purchase: Mar 18 2021
--- Thoughts: this is the 3rd one I bought. I love this mask for deep cleaning my pores.
--- Repurchase: yes
3. Secrets of Pharaoh
--- Price: $2.99 or $3.99 (Marshalls)
--- Date of Purchase: Aug 2022
--- Thoughts: it's very decent for the price. It was a bit too orange for my brows shade, and I believe this color was already ash-y one. I doubt they have one that would closer match my color
--- Repurchase: no
4. Bvlgari - Man
--- Price: free sampler (Macy's)
--- Date of Purchase: Apr 9 2022
--- Thoughts: I don't remember the scent :D Which probably means it was a pass
--- Repurchase: no

1. VitaScience - Multivitamin fizzy pills
--- Price: $2 (not sold in the US, made in Germany)
--- Date of Purchase: unknown
--- Thoughts: I like these, I add them to a glass of sparkling water. They have orange flavor and make water tasty while they are good for health. I saw Amazon selling a similar brand for $10 for 4 tubes (20ct each).
--- Repurchase: yes
2. Golde - Skin Hydration Aide
--- Price: $6 (TJMaxx online)
--- Date of Purchase: Dec 14 2022
--- Thoughts: 6ct. I like these. Not sure if they make any difference for the skin, but I want to believe they do. They add a nice flavor to the water
--- Repurchase: yes

1&2. Economix - Gel Pens Black and Blue (not sold in the US)
--- Price: Unknown, probably around $0.50 each
--- Date of Purchase: Unknown, probably 2017
--- Thoughts: One of my favorite pens. Very ergonomic design. Line is thin but smooth.
--- Repurchase: Definitely yes, if I'd get a chance.

2023.03.02 03:37 leytourmaline I have an interview Saturday and was wondering is there anything I need to know?

I’m pretty nervous I haven’t been to a job interview in like 3+ years, so is there anything I should know about Dollar Tree? I currently work at TJMAXX but it’s getting wayyy too overwhelming with new management and constantly looking for hours, so I’m hoping to find somewhere else that gives decent hours (like16-20 a week). What are the pros and cons of working here? Are there any benefits?

2023.02.23 21:21 SignalEar8657 Can I change my availability to just two days a week and the specific time?

I actually work at marshall’s not tjmaxx but it won’t let me post on there but i’m imagining that it’s the same thing? Anyways I want to have Marshalls as my second job for only sat-sun opening cashier just 4 hours each day. Can I ask for those specific times? Or is it not enough and i’ll have to give more availability?

2023.02.05 05:13 Any_Piece_1564 former TJX associate

i worked at tjmaxx in high school till i was 18, it was the worst 2 years of my life. Tjmaxx is a shitty run company who could give 2 shits about there employees. the managers only care about things that affect them and will over work there employees to the bone. i was just out of high school working shifts 9-5 with little regard for my college schooling. when i have gone back to visit the store the employees have nothing but bad things to say, management could care less about what the floor looks like when they scheduled no one for registers and get upset when the floor is destroyed at closing time, not to mention since i’ve left there been about 5 new managers come around. this company is a joke and please get out of it while you can it’s not worth the stress and the affect it takes on our mental health <3i got a job at carters and got moved up to manager level within 5 months. they recognize hard work and talent within there employees. please think about how you are treated and if it’s a workplace you want to be in. i completely understand not wanting to leave your coworkers but the relationship will stay with you stay in touch. retail places are always looking for employees so look for something that fits you, smaller stores are way less stress and you can form more connections with the shoppers vs shoving credit cards down strangers throats much love a former employee

2023.02.02 21:09 Pretend_Hat8466 January 2023 empties!

January 2023 empties!
I'm still trying to figure out the format for this kind of posts.
2023 is going to be a no/low buy year for me.I'm reducing consumption of the new products, but increasing consumption of the products I already have!
Overview of the items I have used so far:
https://preview.redd.it/i4m7894h0ufa1.jpg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=96078bd0c259d95c8f5f1de52770d576fcc42d17
CANDLES 1:
1. DIY Candle
2. DIY Candle
3. DIY Candle
--- Price: $0
--- Date of Purchase: I made them in the end of November 2022
--- Thoughts: These are not really $0, because I purchased Soy Wax, Jars and Wicks. I didn't like how they came out. The flame was low, they tunneled very bad and had small to no throw. I should've used 2 wicks and added more fragrance. Unfortunately I have another 15 made already...
4. WoodWick Trilogy - Fireside Redwood Sandalwood Clove
--- Price: $19.88 (Walmart online)
--- Date of Purchase: Nov 11 2020
--- Thoughts: I like these candles. Nice crackling sound, clean burn. I bit pricey. The throw is okay (perhaps, my candle was too old)
--- Repurchase: yes, if under $20
5. WoodWick - Flickering Fireside Poplar & Pine Teakwood
--- Price: $19 (BB&B)
--- Date of Purchase: Unknown
--- Thoughts: I liked it, no complaints. The flame is a bit too large and looked dangerous even after I'd trim the wick
--- Repurchase: yes, if under $15
https://preview.redd.it/bit27h4k0ufa1.jpg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4fd7dae401ca31f2f160606ce67f7c4b522497e6
CANDLES 2:
1. Leoben - Peppermint Twist
--- Price: $7.99 (TJMaxx)
--- Date of Purchase: Nov 2022
--- Thoughts: The smell was unexpectedly nice. It does smell like Peppermint sweet bon-bons! The throw was strong considering the size of the candle. I am not sure if I screwed up the first burn, but I did have the tunneling issue with that candle - I was able to fix it with foil/torch and spooning the wax out. Lasted maybe 10 evenings, which is good considering the size.
--- Repurchase: yes, I liked it and it has a unique scent
2. Leoben - Vanilla Noel
--- Price: $7.99 (TJMaxx)
--- Date of Purchase: Nov 2022
--- Thoughts: Clean burn without issues (unlike the peppermint one). There is nothing unique about the scent though - it has a typical sweet vanilla cookie-ish fragrance. The throw wasn't strong enough to be present when burning this one together with the Peppermint Twist (the latter would outpower it). Lasted around 10 evenings
--- Repurchase: 50/50. The price was good, the burn was nice. It's just wasn't unique enough
3. Homesick - Ski Trip
--- Price: $9.99 (HomeGoods)
--- Date of Purchase: Nov 2022
--- Thoughts: Clean burn without issues. Strong throw. The scent felt of the high quality (it smells like fireplace/amber). I feel like this candle burned out too quickly though
--- Repurchase: probably yes (at this price point)
4. Market Candle Collection - Bonfire Nights
--- Price: $14.99 (HomeGoods)
--- Date of Purchase: Dec 2022
--- Thoughts: Large jar, 3 wicks. Had some small tunneling issues that would get fixed on their own after very long burns. Good throw, lasted pretty long
--- Repurchase: I would definitely try to find other scents from this brand if the price is under $20
https://preview.redd.it/mfxnenjn0ufa1.jpg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a631b5aebbe553fb3f8ceb5ebcb8b18a53b8a60
BODY CARE:
1. OleHenriksen - Wonderfeel Double Cleanser
--- Price: $16.99 (TJMaxx online)
--- Date of Purchase: Feb 4 2022
--- Thoughts: I hated this sooooo much and couldn't wait to finish it. I kept it in the downstairs bathroom and only used it at night. I tend to have shiny oily skin with clogged pores. I was fooled by the name 'Double Cleanser' thinking it would be strong as that orange Neutrogena. But in the winter I do prefer the more mild face wash that moisturizes skin. This one felt like washing my face with hand cream - it would leave film/oily residue on my face and on the sink. It didn't remove mascara. I had to follow it with Clinique lotion for oily skin and eye lid cleanser, otherwise I just felt like dirty and sweaty panda
--- Repurchase: Absolutely not
2. Eva-Nyc Lazy Jane Air Dry Shampoo
--- Price: $6.99 or $7.99 (TJMaxx)
--- Date of Purchase: Aug 2022
--- Thoughts: Husband's shampoo. He has shortish bob length fine hair. Never heard any complaints from him and his hair looked good. This tiny bottle lasted 6 month
--- Repurchase: Yes
3. Jurlique - Restoring Shower Gel - Lemon, Geranium & Clary Sage
--- Price: $12.99 (TJMaxx online)
--- Date of Purchase: Sep 15 2021
--- Thoughts: Smells lovely and lathers very good
--- Repurchase: Would try in other scents if under $15
4. Pacha Soap Co - Unknown Scent (smelled like lipstick in a way)
--- Price: around $5 I think, sold per Oz (Whole Foods)
--- Date of Purchase: Sep 2022
--- Thoughts: Smells okay, lasted only few washes
--- Repurchase: Doesn't worth the price imo
https://preview.redd.it/699kenoq0ufa1.jpg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e3131fbe59ba0fe12997223603822d5e33e67688
FACE:
1 Mesomatrix - Revital Express Gel Mask (not sold in the US)
--- Price: free sampler
--- Date of Purchase: May 2022
--- Thoughts: Didn't notice any effect
--- Repurchase: Wouldn't buy the large version
2. Dr.Jart+ - Ceramidin Facial Barrier Sheet Mask
--- Price: $2.60 each (TJMaxx online, sold in 5pk)
--- Date of Purchase: Jul 9 2020
--- Thoughts: Nourishing. I don't think it does anything to my skin, to be honest
--- Repurchase: No
3. EcoTools - eyeshadow applicators
--- Price: unknown (TJMaxx or Marshalls)
--- Date of Purchase: Unknown, probably 2018
--- Thoughts: I liked them. I found them during my skincare purge. They've dried out and turned into rocks.
--- Repurchase: Yes
4. Julep - Lid Armour - eyeshadow base
--- Price: $4.99 (Marshalls online)
--- Date of Purchase: Aug 23 2020
--- Thoughts: I didn't like it and used only few times. I found it in a drawer during my skincare purge - it dried out completely
--- Repurchase: No
https://preview.redd.it/j746jsqt0ufa1.jpg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5769f7ea1be443c6a2282e7718203bf2f413a687
HEALTH:
1. Curad - Eye Patch
--- Price: $2.72 for 20 (Amazon)
--- Date of Purchase: Nov 21 2022
--- Thoughts: I patch one of my eyes at night to keep it closed (I have dry eyes). Good price, but I had a few issues keeping it stuck and in place. Sometimes it would fall off by the morning
--- Repurchase: Maybe, but I'm exploring different options now (like silicone tapes)
2. Nature's Bounty - Valerian Root
--- Price: Unknown
--- Date of Purchase: Unknown
--- Thoughts: Husband's
--- Repurchase: Yes
3. Trader Joe's - Hand Sanitizer Spray - Grapefruit & Lemon
--- Price: $2.99 (Trader Joe's)
--- Date of Purchase: Unknown
--- Thoughts: Does the job well, may be a bit too drying in winter
--- Repurchase: Yes
4. Supplements - Misc
--- Price: varies, unknown
--- Date of Purchase: Unknown
--- Thoughts: Honestly, I don't know if they work. I didn't notice Genius Mushrooms's effect, perhaps, I wasn't consistent taking it.
--- Repurchase: Yes for GABA & B-12. I would consider getting another nootropic instead of Genius Mushrooms
https://preview.redd.it/g4w3thew0ufa1.jpg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8980a5c7c4df1063de68210387031dfa45351712
HOME FRAGRANCE:
1. B&BW - Wallflowers - Strawberry Snowflake
--- Price: $3.95 (B&BW online)
--- Date of Purchase: Dec 8 2022
--- Thoughts: The smell was very strong, but not my profile in particular
--- Repurchase: Maybe, if under $4
2. Glade - Cookie Caramel Rush
--- Price: $3.02 (Amazon)
--- Date of Purchase: Aug 22 2022
--- Thoughts: Delicious moderate smell
--- Repurchase: Yes
3. AirWick - Plug-in Refill - Lavender
--- Price: unknown (BJ's)
--- Date of Purchase: unknown
--- Thoughts: One of my all time favorites
--- Repurchase: Definitely yes
4. AirWick - Metered Spray Refill - Warm Apple Crumble
--- Price: $6.66 (Amazon)
--- Date of Purchase: Aug 24 2021
--- Thoughts: The scent is nice but very weak even in really small bathroom
--- Repurchase: No, too weak
https://preview.redd.it/cq1iswez0ufa1.jpg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=087a9289c38dee9b1482f9be56b82c50b6162ae1
STATIONARY:
1&2. Economix - Gel Pens Black and Blue (not sold in the US)
--- Price: Unknown, probably around $0.50 each
--- Date of Purchase: Unknown, probably 2017
--- Thoughts: One of my favorite pens. Very ergonomic design. Line is thin but smooth.
--- Repurchase: Definitely yes, if I'd get a chance.
3. Muji - Grid Notebook Refill - 50 sheets
--- Price: $2.90 (Muji)
--- Date of Purchase: Oct or Nov 2022
--- Thoughts: I like these. So far one of the best notebooks I had. The price is good too.
--- Repurchase: Definitely yes
  1. Pilot - Black 0.38 Gel Pen
--- Price: Unknown
--- Date of Purchase: Unknown
--- Thoughts: I absolutely hate this one (And I have one more in 0.38 point + one in 1.0 point. I'd use 0.38 for the sake of already having it, but will give 1.0 away). While it gives out a thin line, the pen itself is very thick and uncomfortable to hold. It almost felt like holding a thick pipe with my fingers
--- Repurchase: Never
https://preview.redd.it/duswuz141ufa1.jpg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=460e5ec668e56f0998164106a85a85df399cadcb
PERFUME:
1. Atelier Cologne - Orange Sanguine
--- Price: $2.43 Sampler
--- Date of Purchase: Nov 2022 (TJMaxx)
--- Thoughts: Lovely happy orange scent. This brand is notorious for its weak performance, but I feel like this particular one stayed long enough.
--- Repurchase: I may've considered to purchase the large bottle, but I have too many full-sized perfumes to last me a lifetime
2. Burberry - Her
--- Price: free sampler (Macy's)
--- Date of Purchase: Apr 9 2022
--- Thoughts: I liked it. It smells vibrant and fresh, very young-female profile. I tend to like more complex perfumes though. This one has typical pink juice scent. Very safe choice.
--- Repurchase: Not for myself, but could make a good gift for someone

2023.02.01 19:40 Pretend_Hat8466 One month check-in (Jan 2023)

My 2 weeks check-in is here that covers Jan 1 - Jan 16
The following is relevant for Jan 17 - Jan 31st.

I received several refunds for the items I bought in December and decided to return. I also got a VAT tax refund on a European purchase made back in October.
Few things that I remember buying while understanding that they were not a necessity:
  1. Got a candle set (3pcs) at TJMaxx when I went to return another item - $9.99
  2. Got a candle trimming set there the same day - $16
  3. Got 2 supplements there the same day - $15
  4. Got 2 supplements on Amazon that I don't truly need - $30
  5. Got another plant growing lamp set (I sort of needed it) - $22
  6. Bought planted tulips (it's not really on the no-buy list but still) - $5
Overall spendings:

Thoughts:
I think that my brain got calmer, I unsubscribed from emails, and barely check Instagram. I don't feel an urge to spend right now, I feel like I want to save more money even if I can only save a tiny bit of the income, since I don't work at the moment and we live off husband's earnings. Previously I thought there was no point in trying to save 'pennies' until I get a job and be able to contribute large amounts to it. A week or two ago I experienced an interesting thing - while I didn't want to shop for anything in particular, my brain would constantly check in with me and ask if I'm sure that I don't need anything at all. I subconsciously tried to come up with the shopping ideas, but couldn't get any. I no longer experience it to the same extend though.
This month I received refunds in A larger amount than what I spent!
I'm debating whether or not I want to splurge on a rug for the bedroom.

1. Curad - Eye Patch
--- Price: $2.72 for 20 (Amazon)

--- Thoughts: I patch one of my eyes at night to keep it closed (I have dry eyes). Good price, but I had a few issues keeping it stuck and in place. Sometimes it would fall off by the morning
--- Repurchase: Maybe, but I'm exploring different options now (like silicone tapes)

--- Thoughts: Honestly, I don't know if they work. I didn't notice Genius Mushrooms's effect, perhaps, I wasn't consistent taking it.

STATIONARY:
1&2. Economix - Gel Pens Black and Blue (not sold in the US)

3. Muji - Grid Notebook Refill - 50 sheets

--- Repurchase: Definitely yes

PERFUME:
1. Atelier Cologne - Orange Sanguine

2. Burberry - Her
--- Price: free sampler (Macy's)
--- Date of Purchase: Apr 9 2022
--- Thoughts: I liked it. It smells vibrant and fresh, very young-female profile. I tend to like more complex perfumes though. This one has typical pink juice scent. Very safe choice.

2023.01.17 20:19 BreadfruitUnusual275 Pretty new

I’m pretty new to Tjmaxx. I’m never had a job where I had to sell a credit card before. Will they fire you if you don’t get enough credits? I’m nervous.

2023.01.17 19:22 Pretend_Hat8466 Half month check-in (Jan 2023)

I started doing no-buy /low-buy on Jan 1st because I've admitted I had a huge shopping problem. I am unemployed still, and my husband is the only earner at the moment. I am studying and don't know when I'll be ready to start looking for a new job.
My problems are:
  1. obsessing over a category and purchasing lots of the items in that category. Same obsession applies to a newly discovered brand and my urge to order a haul from it.
  2. online shopping. I don't buy as much in the offline stores and in general have better evaluation of the price when buying offline. I think my brain doesn't consider online prices to be the real money
  3. returns. At some point I realized that I don't really care for the newly acquired items (I only get the dopamine hit at the point of clicking 'Purchase' button) and to minimize money damage I decided to start returning things unless I absolutely loved them (well, then my brain fell into convincing me that I love everything..). I was tired of never ending purchase-return-purchase loop and boxes laying everywhere in our apartment.
  4. money. It started becoming obvious that our net gain became negative as soon as I left the job but continued to buy in the same amounts. I put about extra 10K debt on the CC in just few months this fall.
  5. space. I no longer have free space in the closets and storage. And yes, I had to rent a storage to store my hoardings.
  6. mental peace. I am very very tired of this.
  7. usage. I rarely use anything that I buy, but I keep buying more and more. Now I'm trying to push myself using my things/consumables more.
So far, I slipped up 2 times and semi-slipped once.
  1. slip) I got a candle from an offline store ($45). It's okay.
  2. slip) A friend of mine was visiting with her kid, and he broke some of my Xmas decorations. While I could just forget about it, I decided to repurchase it and it was heavily discounted at TJMaxx site ($6). I got 2 candles along with it ($6 each). While it all totalled at $18, I think I should not shop at TJMaxx, as it used to be my weak spot and I left tens of thousands dollars there on useless stuff. I am trying not to punish myself for it.
  3. half-slip) I got Aarke soda streamer and a bottle for it. I used $160 gift card that I got through CapitalOne Shopping, so the out-of-pocket total was $100 for the streamer + $60 for the gas. = $160. I do believe it will help me to save on sparkling water in the future, as we already have good tap water filtration system and apparently Perrier got crazy expensive at $2.50 per bottle. So, while it was not absolutely needed, it will save the money in the long run, it is convenient, it is not clothing, my husband will use it too and half is paid by the gift card.
Total: -$223 + -$160(gift card)
Other purchases:
  1. $70 - my husbands vitamins. Allowed
  2. Aritzia Slouch coat + socks. While I hate the fact that I got them, I had $403 gift card, so the out-of-pocket total was $0.79. It was also my stupid mistake about how I ended up with that card: I bought few Aritzia pants when they had 10% off, and it turned out that they were too short for me even in the Long length. Apparently, discounted things are non-refundable and Aritzia issues a gift card. I was so mad at myself, but throwing that gift card would be stupid. I am also now biased and don't like most of their stuff and feel like they are very overpriced and have bad customer service/return policy. So, I thought I would get that coat and just forget about this whole story and the brand.
  3. bought 2 plant lights (around $13). Allowed.
  4. paper towels $45. Allowed
  5. gift for a friend - Japanese tea collection. $70. Allowed
Total: -$200 + -$403(in gift card)
We also got coffees out/ate at a diner after hiking with friends, got pastries for friends, food for a party etc etc.. But I don't count that.
I bought nearly no groceries and for the first time in a while I'm trying to eat what we already have in the cabinets/fridge. It feels nice and the fridge finally doesn't look like it's going to burst.
Normally I would not be able to move anything to the savings account, nor I'd be able to pay towards my debt more than the required minimum payment (which is about $700). It is amazing how stopping to buy relatively inexpensive things adds up to thousands of dollars. We still have 2 weeks to go until the end of the month.

2023.01.10 15:35 CelestialBeing-Earth Are all T-shirt sizes made the same?(SML)

So lately I've been noticing most of the shirts I own or try to buy all seem to have issues for me. I can fit in a medium, but with all T-shirts it seems like everytime I lift my arms up or pretty much shrug my shoulders my shirts come up pretty high. I have larger shoulders and upper body from sports and having a physical job, but I'm not sure what to do. Larges all seem really baggy and mediums don't fit my upper body it seems. Are all T-Shirts sold at stores like Kohls, TJMaxx, ECT all sorta made the same or is there some special kinds of shirts I should be shopping for? Thanks!
