2023.06.04 05:30 Buckeye_419 Replaced front breaks & tacked back up the black plastic underside cover; now I hear metal vibrating
I have a 2012 Buick lacrosse. I changed the front break pads on both sides. The rotors still looked like new so I didn’t change them (only break pads).
I had no issues whatsoever getting the tire off, popping the 2 nuts off, pulling the pads out and swapping them with new. Both sides went very easy.
While I was doing the breaks, I noticed that black hard plastic cover that is under the front end, was kind of loose. So, I grabbed a washer & put it on the bolt and ratcheted it up to put the black plastic cover on a lot tighter than it was. All good.
I drove the vehicle, I noticed when I got to a steady spread of like 50 mph (and held that speed), I’d hear this tin-metal sound vibrating. Sounds directly underneath the car. Not the wheels/brakes. No in-cabin. But basically directly under the car. I’m wondering if this had something to do with me re-tacking that black plastic thing back up? Metal nut vibrating? Something else? Tomorrow I am gonna re-look back under there and see.

2023.06.04 05:13 space_10 Acoustics. Decibels to get through a wooden fence over 25KHz at 7 to 15 ft?
TLDR: how loud does a 25+ KHz dog silencer need to be to get through a wooden fence with 3mm gaps at a distance of 7 to 15 feet?
I'm sure this has been asked or thought of before.. What decibel level would a high MHz sound (25- 35KHz) have to be to get through a wooden fence at 4 to 15 ft? With the speaker placed at 3 - 4 ft from the fence? The wooden fence has a plastic or clear vinyl wall on top of the fence and a metal roof on top of that, so no aiming it above the fence.. The gaps in the fence boards are about 3mm. The boards are a little under 16mm thick. A yappy dog that will not shut up is always within 3 1/2 ft of the fence when barking. & yes, I have talked to them..
& would an additional sort of funnel behind the speaker help?

Anthony Sowell raped and killed at least 11 women from 2007 - 2009. The former Marine turned scraper was 50 years old on the day of his arrest Halloween 2009. The stench around his house permeated the entire neighborhood so badly that Ray's sausage company across the street was blamed. This was no stench new grease traps were gonna fix though. Anthony slept, ate, & lived amongst the corpses. It's been said that when he would come into a room people would become ill to the point of throwing up. He was released from prison as a sex offended in 2005 shortly after his release began smoking crack. Using it as bait to get drug addicted hookers back to his house of horrors w whispers of sweet nothings and promises of a good time. One survivors report as to what happened described walking down the hall of the third floor where Anthony lived in squalor. Plastic covered one of the doorways on a walk back by it she glanced in and saw a woman's body propped up wrapped in plastic w no head. when he escorted her all the way back downstairs and out to the steps. She recalls that walk as being extremely painful as her face was injured, her female organs were injured, and she lost control of her bowels. When she called to report it she was told she would have to come to the station to make her statement. He had 5 bodies buried in his back yard. Bodies were in the crawl space of the basement, one under the stairs beneath a broken table and some just left in a room w plastic over the door. Later he stuffed towels along the bottom of the doorway. Some neighbors recall seeing Anthony dragging large garbage bags down the streets to dumpsters that were also permeated w the smell of death. After his arrest he admitted to the crimes and blamed the voices in his head. He claimed he didn't notice anything unusual in his house yet his boots found at the scene were caked w dead maggots. My source on this is Serial Killers True Crime Anthology 2014 by Peter Vronsky my favorite true crime author. He pulls no punches and spares no details this was my twenty-first book I completed by him.

I've been thinking about getting a breast augmentation for the past two years but I'm pretty apprehensive. I can't afford it, and I'm scared of getting implant illness. . .
Having bigger boobs would make me feel prettier x100, however ; I feel like if I actually went through with a major invasive surgery like that, afterwards I would probably feel even worse about myself.
I might look at women on the street ( with my small breast size ) who never had to consider getting this surgery and hate myself even more. I would probably think "Why were they accepted without having to get a dangerous surgery, and I wasn't"?
I would also hate myself / feel ashamed for getting cosmetic surgery in general. I have nothing against how I look, the world around me does. I don't want to drastically change my appearance because this is just how I look. I can't explain this feeling.
I want plastic surgery to feel pretty . . . but I don't want it because of pride in my current looks . . . sigh. 😔 ( I don't make sense sometimes ).
When I'm around 30 I'll start to consider plastic surgery more seriously. By then IDK if I'll still be alive though. If my position in life hasn't changed by then it never will.

All these high profile celebrity deaths, especially of younger people. Are actually just actors simply wanting to go back to having a normal life and getting out of the constant spotlight while still keeping their money. Get crazy high quality plastic surgery and boom get to be just a normal rich person. Certainly would be a nice way out instead of people turning to drugs, which is what seems to usually happen.

i had a referral from my doctor to surgeon, someone they thought were better suited to help with my HS. the dr overwhelmed me a bit. while she was poking and prodding at my breasts and armpits, she kept repeating how she’s seen this for 40 years and this is the worst case she’s ever seen. she continued to tell me i have a lot on my plate (i have a pilonidal cyst as well) and that i had a very long road ahead of me. this all made me feel very anxious and defeated.
she asked what i was taking for the pain in which i responded ibuprofen so she prescribed me something that is meant to help w inflammation and pain. then went on to ask about what i’ve tried in the past. she gave me my options (plastic surgery for a skin graft and some kind of surgery i don’t remember the name of or to see a dermatologist to see if i can get it under control.) it’s safe to say i couldn’t hold my tears back, i sobbed the second she walked out of the door. i’ve been so used to doctors looking at me like i’m a freak of nature and pushing me out their doors. even though she didn’t have the best bedside manner, she’s trying. and i’ve never had a doctor do that before.
i opted for a dermatologist first, then she gave me the info for the plastic surgeon.
what should i ask the dermatologist?
the medication she put me on is naproxen 500 mg, 1 tablet a day for 10 days and clindamycin hydrochloride 300 mg 1 tablet 4 times a day for 10 days.
has anyone taken these for their HS?

I am still waiting to make my appointment with ucsd which is the plastic surgery department of the University of California San Diego. I have looked up and they all seem to have provided transgender surgeries including top surgery. I was wondering if anyone has gone there. What their experience was like? Also I am a bigger dude and im worried that I'll have some fat still left on my sides a little bit under my underarms. I don't know what it's called the little bit of fat still hanging there. Is there anyway I could ask for them to also take the fat out there? Or how does that really work? Thank you so much for reading.

37 F, suffered from HS since I was 10, diagnosed at 32. Over the years I would show up to a derm or urgent care to help with painful boils in my buttocks and groin (they surmised cysts or MRSA, lol) but have self managed for years or just taken oral antibiotics or used topical treatments.
I haven’t gone to urgent care in years but this current flare was so painful, felt like the size of a ping pong ball on my inner butt cheeks and it was actually two connected boils. The nurse practitioner incised and drained it. But she also packed the wound which hurt like holy hell.
Now I’m home and and the wound is hurting. Especially if I have to walk. If I go pee, urine gets on the wound. How am I supposed to care for a packed wound and how the hell am I supposed to get the gauze out.
I have a consultation with a renowned plastic surgeon who treats HS in less than two weeks and I can’t wait to talk surgery options. This life is hell.
*Editing to add that the assessment paper from the clinic diagnosed me as having a “vaginal cyst” and being obese 🙄 and no mention of wound care.

The VAST majority is so quick to talk trash about people that color their hair, get extensions, get acrylic nails, get tattoos, plastic surgery, PMU, but YET these are the people that get the most attentions. The celebrities, the influencers, the people were following. Personally I enjoy these things on others and have to and plan to do a few of them myself. But I gotta know why many people front that they don’t like it but still offers all their attention to it.

Hey! I have submitted primaries to all TMDSAS schools, and I was wondering about my chances for schools like UTSW, Dell, UT SA, and McGovern. I know my MCAT is low, but I can't retake it for this cycle because I am in the UK for postgrad, and all the test centers in Europe are booked through August. I grew up in the south, when I moved to LA it took me a full year of consideration before I could even step into the lgbt center for hormones, and once I was there, I felt like an alien. I grinned, smiled, and stared at people like they were animals at a petting zoo, as to let them know "I'm not one of you".
Flash foward, and I've spent 4 years of my 5 year transition still in "boy mode", and only just the last year did I ditch my entire boys wardrobe in an effort to always be myself..
It's been ROUGH!
I often find myself reaching for my most masculine articles of clothing, Tshirts, jackets, sweats, and still lowering my voice subconsciously if I feel that I'm being perceived as male. Or else I worry strangers think I'm failing at "playing pretend". I do this more often now that I've been forced to move to the south, even though I'm desperately trying to get back to CA.
Not to mention my Mom has already told me she "won't have the time to take care of me" if I get the surgeries done, so I shouldn't do them. Toppled with her preaching these surgeries won't change my life and suddenly make me popular and lovable in other words.. because that's what she believes they are for.
But I'm wondering if me denying myself these big surgeries, like breast augmentation, or only considering ffs if I can tell my surgeon to do "minor changes", a form of self hate/transphobia?
I grew up feeling very much that all the fake plastic bodies of Hollywood are disgusting. As I aged, I began to see that it's fine, they should "just tell people what they've done so they don't set unrealistic standards". But if I Really think about it, a cis woman who already has all of these things and is actually enhancing them, and that isn't the same thing as a trans woman getting some of these things (hips, and visible breast) for the very first time.. is it?
It's rare a cis woman will be genuinely mistaken for a male without surgery, and begin to spiral, like a trans woman may, so how can it be the same thing? And if that's really the case, why am I, as a trans woman, walking into these surgeries with the same mindset as if I'm a cis woman?
I hardly even allow myself to ponder these questions because I quickly get myself too hooked on the fact that these surgeries are Risky! And my poor people's insurance seems to Only recommend me the sloppiest of the sloppy, but even then, even with a proper surgeon, all I can think of is, what if I die, or they botch me!? My self esteem is already in the gutters.
But now I'm wondering, is all of this self enforced negativity just a way of denying myself happiness?
After 29 years on this earth, 5yrs of hormones, and 1 severe case of social anxiety later, there's 1 thing I can honestly say, and it's I can't keep going on like this anymore!!!!
Doing the same things over and over again, expecting different results,... insanity!
I'm back in "boi mode" and in the south again, and anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm Depressed.. Severely! I don't even have to tell them.
I did have one brief stint at being "passable", I had pretty hair that covered half my face, I wore a mask as it was during covid times, and I felt mighty confident! Guys wanted me, women felt comfortable around me, it was a good times, that Didn't last for long!
I struggle with knowing who I am seeing as something as pivotal to my own existence, such as my gender identity, can be dropped/kicked/taken from me in the blink of an eye after a semi successful year of fighting for it! And if oight So Hard!!! I don't want to fight anymore!
Id love to wake up, and have everyone else see me for who I am, without always having the pressures of spending hours in the mirror, simply with hopes of being called a she again. That or feeling terrified of taking off my mask. I want to be happy with who I see in the mirror. I want a happy social life!
Something is keeping me from going outside as often as I should, and I believe the problems are based around my gender identity and people's perception of me.
I just don't know what I should do!

I have unfortunately made quite a few mistakes these past couple years, and have found myself in significant amount of debt with a pretty bad credit score. I am aware of the various options one has to get out of debt, and I know they all come with their own sets of pros & cons. I have come up with a plan that I hope will help me get a better place without having to do anything too drastic.
Here's my a breakdown of my situation-
*- This should be the balance at the start of July after all of this month's payments are made. **- I have rounded the minimum payment up so they are all divisible by 10. ***- This account is in my father's name, but he allowed me to borrow it so I am responsible for the payments.
*- This is technically a credit card, that is in my father's name but he allowed me to "borrow" his credit so this is my responsibility.
I don't have a complete breakdown of my monthly expenses, but the estimated total is roughly $800/mo.
My partner and I also in the middle of a move, that we cannot afford at all. However, we do not have a choice, and will have to make due some how. Our current landlord has decided to sell the house we are currently renting with a couple of friends. The lease ends in July, but the landlord has given us all to okay to break the lease early, without penalty, if we move out before it ends in July. We have found a place that we both love and will be able to afford the monthly payments at, and have been approved. Unfortunately the upfront costs are going to be a struggle, and will likely result in us owing more money to family & friends. Which is not desirable, but is far better then the alternative, homelessness.
I make $17/hr working about 30 hours a week, and get paid every 2 weeks. State and federal taxes are taken out automatically + an additional $50 towards federal, and $50 goes to a HYS account that I refuse to touch again. After deductions I take home up to $1,600/mo. Due to my health/disability I am not always able to work a full 30 hours a week, so I will some times make less.
Up until November of last year I had been doing fairly well managing all of my financial obligations. However in December I had to reduce my hours at work due to my health, and had been quite irresponsible when buying gifts for family & friends. Come January of this year I had surgery and was out of work, without pay for a couple of months. I did qualify for temporary disability, but the payments did not come until a month after I had returned to work. During that time I had completely wiped out the small about I had in savings, borrowed from family and friends to cover some costs, and had to let some items go without payment. I have since gotten almost everything current (the last 2 will be current by the end of the month), and I have paid back my friends who had lent me money. I still owe my father about $500 and the amount changes each month as he is making the payments towards my sewing machine. I do not have to rush to pay my father back, as long as I make small payments towards what I owe him whenever I can.
I have come up with a plan to help me get started on my journey to being debt free. This plan mainly focuses on getting my credit card debt paid off, and relies on a few things in order for it to work- 1- My monthly income being about $1,600; 2- My monthly expenses being around $800; 3- Only paying $250.04 towards my loans (student & personal); 4- My dad continuing to pay towards my sewing machine & letting me make small payments to him whenever I can;
Based on the research I have done, the "snowball" method seem to be what I thing might work best for me. Because I am not always the best with numbers, and I will often do better when they are divisible by 5 or 10, I have rounded the minimum payment amount up so they are all divisible by 10. This makes the "minimum" due to $280/mo and I know I can easily but another $20/mo towards this for a total of $300/mo.

Based on the research I have done, the "snowball" method seem to be what I thing might work best for me. Because I am not always the best with numbers, and I will often do better when they are divisible by 5 or 10, I have rounded the minimum payment amount up so they are all divisible by 10. This makes the "minimum" due to $280/mo and I know I can easily but another $20/mo towards this for a total of $300/mo.

- Credit Card 2: $30/mo 07/2023-10/2023; $80/mo 11/2023-01/2024; $80+ 02/2024

My "other options"-
- Personal/Debt Consolidation Loan- I am not currently eligible for any sort of loan at the moment because of my credit. I did take out a personal loan last year as an attempt to consolidate my debt and take an emergency trip. However, due to my own negligence and being irresponsible, that loan has only added to the problem.
- Debt Consolidation Program- While I know this is a valid option, and I has helped countless people get out of debt, I'm not sure it is something I want to do. The thought of allowing all of my accounts to become delinquent, and likely ruining my relationships with my creditors is completely undesirable to me. I opened my first line of credit in December 2019 and did not have a singe late payment until November 2022. (Credit Card 1- Opened November 2022, no late payments; Credit Card 2- Opened November 2019, no late payments; Credit Card 3- Opened October 2022, late payments January-March 2023; Credit Card 5- Opened July 2020, late payments November 2022 & March-April 2023; Credit Card 6- Opened November 2020, late payments December-March 2023; Personal Loan- Obtained February 2022, late payments February-April 2023, Student Loan- Obtained June 2020, no late payments).
- Bankruptcy- This is a very valid option for people who are in horrible situations, with no other way out. To put it simply, this is a nuclear option, and my situation does not call for me to take such a drastic approach.
- Collections- This option in by far the WORST option, and is something I am actively trying to avoid. I also think it is fair to say that nearly everyone is also trying to avoid this as well. This option, like a debt consolidation program, would require me to allow my accounts to become delinquent. While this option does allow me to choose which accounts become delinquent, the risks are far too high. However, because of my job, if I were to be sent to collections for any of my accounts, I do have an understanding of how the process works, and how to avoid a judgement being entered against me.

I'm dealing with UARS & mild sleep apnea (Doctor diagnosed, not self diagnosed).I've had 2 sleep studies, one showed 11 RDI/h and 2.5 AHI/hr and the second measured an AHI of 5.9 /hr. That second study does not measure RDI. I also use the Oura ring and I constantly see oxygen level drops almost every night, and tons of movement.
Had septoplasty and turbinate reduction ~1 month ago which helped nasal breathing a lot but obviously did not fix anything. However during the same procedure I've also done DISE and found 100% collapse at the soft palate, 50% collapse of oropharynx and 25% base of tongue. No collapse at epiglottis. I'm using a MAD which helps a tiny bit (started experiencing dreams lately) but I still feel like there's not enough space for air to go through.
The Doctor that did the DISE has recommended me a barbed reposition pharyngoplasty (they also have to do tonsillectomy before) and said it should help and might cure me, even though he said "it's a pretty rough procedure for a relatively mild condition". I don't feel like my symptome are mild :)
I also have malampati & friedman class 3 -- always feel like there's not enough space in my mouth for air. I read that patients with friedman class 3 might benefit from BRP the most.
I'm also considering MMA but feel like it would be the next step if the BRP would not work. I'm honestly very afraid of the pain and any complications of the MMA surgery.I plan to do CBCT soon and check my airways.
WDYT about that BRP - waste of time & effort? Anyone has done it? Should I just go for MMA?
Also, very curious, does anyone experience neck pain and headaches at the base of their skull, almost all day every day?

 | Lady Abigail or Abbi as she was usually called was my first pup I had after I moved out on my own. We got Princess Belle (Belle or a few random nicknames she answers to) at 5 weeks old, she is 1/2 Jack Russell & 1/2 yorkiepoo but the Jack attitude won out. We also had a yellow lab named Ed that was 2 years younger than Abbi. Abbi was apprehensive of the lil bit as was Ed but he ended up playing with her a lot. The second photo is to show Belle’s size then and now at 13 (she weighs 12 ish pounds). Abbi was so good with her outside and would stay close to her pretty much like she would do when we had our friends young children over at our house. Abbi & Ed have both since passed unfortunately and I’ve added dachshunds to my pack but I wouldn’t turn away another black lab.
